Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths

The president is Deathstroke, not deadshot. He's the guy with the half orange mask that you met in Arkham Origins, and one of the main villains of the Teen Titans. In the some continuities, his daughter rose is a hero named Ravager.

I think that Batman really likes the Flash but would never admit it. It feels like Batman is like an older brother to Flash, the type of older brother who would never admit how much he likes and respects his younger brother Flash. Correct, that was Slade Wilson, Deathstroke. Though a couple times I think you said Deadshot. It's really confusing because they're both some of the most talented assassins. Deadshot is more shooty and Deathstroke is more stabby.

So some interesting info about this one: This movie was initially conceived as a movie sequel to the justice league cartoon, bridging the gap between it and its then upcoming sequel series Justice League Unlimited. However due to various behind the scenes stuff the idea ended up getting scrapped and later the concept was repurposed for this standalone movie unconnected to the show. As part of this various connections to the show present in the original script were removed or changed. I'm not gonna talk about them due to not wanting to spoil anything for the show since you're currently watching it. One i will mention since its spoiler free is that the sequence where batman summons other heroes to help fight superwoman and her goons, originally those heroes would have all been ones we'd seen prior in justice league or superman/ batman the animated series. For example Supergirl one going to be in the original scene. Aquaman is the only one in both versions, though I assume in the original version he'd have had his hook hand to keep in line with his justice league show episode. Another change they decided on just cause they could now that its standalone was replacing John Stewart with Hal Jordan. The script for the original version surfaced online within the last year or so though i wouldn't recommend looking at it since again potential spoilers for the justice league show. For some more backstory the Crime Syndicate was introduced in 1964 in justice league of America issue 29 where they are presented as being from Earth 3. Various versions of them have been introduced over the years with them even getting their own comic mini series a couple of years ago. Arguably the most popular version was introduced in the new 52 in the 2010s where Earth 3 is presented as an entire universe where people don't believe in "right" or "wrong" and instead believe in strength above all and the weak deserving death. On this planet committing crimes is normal behaviour for most with all sense of law being inherently corrupt and self serving. The new 52 versions are likely most popular because they did really interesting twists on each core syndicate member. To answer your question the woman wonder woman fights at the factory is in fact her evil counterpart not superwoman. Whilst Superwoman does fill Wonder Woman's spot on the Crime Syndicate roster she is in fact not an evil Diana. She is instead the evil equivalent to a dc character called Mary Marvel who is the sister of Captain Marvel, or as he is known in modern comics Shazam. Likewise her goons are in fact the other family members of Shazam. The one with the beard who you thought was blind is Shazam. His eyes are drawn like that to resemble how shazam's eyes were drawn in his old comics. The younger one is Shazam Jr (originally called Captain Marvel Jr) and the older man is Uncle Shazam (originally Uncle Marvel). In the comics Superwoman is an odd character as she is for some reason is never a version of Diana. In original comics she is presented as an Amazon but never named. In 2000s comics as in the movie she is evil Mary Marvel, in 2010s comic she is in fact an evil superpowered Lois Lane and in her recent 2020s version she is Donna Troy who in the regular universe is Wonder Girl. Owl man is also an interesting case as modern versions of him are presented as not Bruce but instead "thomas Wayne jr" with it being revealed on Earth 3 Martha and Thomas had two children with Thomas jr being Bruce's brother. Thomas Jr would convince Bruce to help him kill their parents so they can inherit their money but Bruce would chicken out of it causing Thomas Jr and Alfred to kill Bruce alongside their parents. This would leave a hole in Thomas Jr's life as he deep down cared for Bruce, a gap he'd later try to fill with his universe's version of Dick Grayson. There's so many alternate versions of dc characters in these movies It would take too long to go through them all. But to point out one of the ones you questioned yes that was an alt version of Lobo. If there any other specific ones you wanted info on I'd be happy to point out their equivalent.

Owlman's nihilism is quite scary but the man is dedicated. "You blinked" certainly goes down as one Batman's coldest lines. I think it's kinda sweet that Batman's like, yeah there's no way I'm gonna let MY flash die doing thing this. And I love that this is how they decided to give Wonder Woman her classic invisible jet. Thank you for reacting to this!

Love this movie! FYI, there is a sequel to this called Justice League Doom, and all the voice actors are the same as in the animated series you’re watching! It’s really good!

Gandhi_18

This alongside Justice League Doom are some of my favourites. Hopefully you can watch Doom later on!

This is another of my favorite animated JL movies! In this one it was about a Lex Luthor from an alternate world who was actually the good guy and he needed the main world league's help to free his world from an evil version of the league called the crime syndicate. I know you loved this one Meg!

Good reaction! This movie gives you glimpse of the larger DC multiverse with introducing you to Earth 3 which is where the Crime Syndicate are from which is their earth in the comics as well. The president is a version of Deathstroke with his daughter Rose Wilson. Can’t say much on her in the comics in case of spoilers but she’s different in the main universe compared to the version of her in the film. What’s cool is you seen movies based on some of these different universes from comic multiverse. The Dark Knight Returns where an old man Bruce returns from retirement is Earth 31 or Gotham By Gaslight where Bruce fights Jack the Ripper is Earth 19. Many of the cartoons or live action stuff can be viewed as part of the multiverse as well. Last thing to mention is the main comic universe is viewed as Earth Prime or Earth 0.

The Amazing Webhead

Another thing to say is you got to briefly meet some other heroes being Black Canary (who is the blonde you want to cosplay as), Black Lightning, Red Tornado, & Firestorm. Owlman is a good evil counterpart to Batman but you might be surprised to know his identity. I sent a short that explain his background in the YouTube rec chat but I see that another comment explain it. Glad you like the film.

Yeah this is one of my favorite DC movies of all time. This movie gives you a look into DC's multiverse. In the comics, the Earth the Crime Syndicate live on is called Earth 3 and it's a world where all the heroes and villains we know in the main universe have their roles swapped. Basically Superman is the evil one and Lex Luthor is the good one for example. I'm also glad that you brought up shadowselves again cause that is exactly what I was thinking and the question of what would you do if multiverses exist and you met an alternate version of yourself. It's an interesting concept People will probably tell you in the comments already but you were right at first that the president was Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke. The heroes that Batman brought on the Watchtower to fight Superwoman and her henchmen were Aquaman, Black Canary, Black Lightning, Red Tornado and Firestorm. You'll get to know them eventually. Also the three henchmen that Superwoman had are based on members of the Captain Marvel/Shazam family. Specifically Captain Marvel, Captain Marvel Jr. and Uncle Marvel. That ending scene with Batman and Owlman is probably my favorite scene. Owlman's nihilism is terrifying and it's so interesting to see how similar but also how different both him and Batman are. Speaking of Batman, I know Flash said he thinks Batman doesn't like him and then Martian Manhunter said he thinks Batman doesn't like anyone, I personally look at it as Batman does like people, especially his allies and friends. The reason why he comes off as being cold to them is because I don't think he knows how to express those emotions. So he distracts himself with something he does know and that's the mission at hand, to end the never ending battle on crime. But at the end of the day I do think Bruce does like people and those he surrounds himself with. It's just that he doesn't know to express it to them. Plus he doesn't really trust people a lot cause he's had people betray him before and proved him wrong about how good they really were. But yeah this movie was amazing. The late great Dwayne McDuffie rewrote this as the plot of this movie was actually going to be part of the Justice League show that you're watching. So he had to remove all elements that were connected to the show. I can't wait for you to check out the episodes he was part of since they're some of my favorite of the series. In fact, I think the next episode for the show are the first that he worked on. So I'm excited for you to check it out eventually!

Other than it being a very good movie there are some interesting philosophical concepts here that I think you would find very interesting. (Apologies if you know all this already but I didn't catch any mention of it in the analysis). The climax is based on a quote from late 1800s German philosopher Frederick Nietzsche, "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you." Definitely take a deep dive into some of his theories when you can if you're not already familiar. Ironically, he has another concept called the "Ubemensch" or "Superman" which is a whole other rabbit hole.

Buttahfingr

Omg Meg you look so pwitty, loving the fit!

The 'mirror universe' was a concept first introduced by Star Trek I believe, inverting all our heroes' moral centers and making them the villains of that reality. Lots of other media have had a fun time with this idea, and I like having the usual baddies like Luthor, Joker and Deathstroke (and his daughter) as heroes. Shame we never see a good Darkseid- I'm told he's the same vile tyrant no matter what the universe. Owlman (James Woods) is the standout of the Crime Syndicate, seeing the implications of a multiverse and being crushed by them into the bleakest of nihilism; a mission to destroy all life. More than one comic book story brought Owlman back to plague Batman again.

The Flash’s VA is an iconic voice for Spider-Man in arguably the best Spidey show ever made: the Spectacular Spider-Man
