Oooooo I’ve been waiting for this one

HeroesKey

I was waiting for this and being introduced to the Court of Owls. The Court to me is one of those answers to the question of why Bruce doesn't do enough to help the city. One of is cause the city is actually cursed and the other is cause the Court (which is filled with Gotham's richest people) undermines everything he does to genuinely help the city in order for it to be controlled by them. Bruce escaping to find the Court at a young age not only reminds me of Damian and the many times he has escaped but also the other Robins as well. Dick himself said in this movie that he used to sneak out of the house when he was young and we even saw him do what a young Bruce did in BTAS when he was trying to find his parent's killer Tony Zucco. I don't remember if Jason Todd did the same thing but I wouldn't be surprised either. I feel like this movie is when I slowly started warming up to Damian cause when he was first introduced, lots of people didn't like him. Granted I never hated him like some people but something I didn't really like that they won't show at all in this DCAMU (because he doesn't exist) is how Damian just replaced Tim Drake as Robin since Tim was still Robin in the comics at the time Damian was first introduced and it was kind of just accepted. And I won't go into it much in case you want to read the comics on it but Tim and Damian do have a bit of a rivalry between them. The Dollmaker in this is an amalgamated version of two other Dollmakers that being the second Dollamaker, Anton Schott, the son of Superman villain Toyman and the third Dollmaker Barton Mathis. I loved seeing Nightwing in this as well and seeing the fight scenes he had alongside Batman but I do feel like they really nerfed both of them in how good they are as fighters. I think with the fight Bruce and Dick had with Damian you could say they were holding back a lot cause they obviously don't want to actually hurt him. We don't actually find out who Talon really is. They just left him unnamed. I kind of took Bruce telling Dick that Damian is not like any other child to how he sees himself in him in a way. Cause Bruce was not like any other child, whether it's cause he was rich and privileged or how after his parents died, it didn't take long for him to begin his training to become Batman. So I feel like he can relate to Damian on not being like an ordinary child and living a regular childhood, especially when Damian was trained and groomed to be an assassin and the perfect heir to Ra's Al Ghul. I will say I can understand being bothered with seeing a child like Damian doing all these things can be problematic but you could say the same thing for the other Batfamily members. But this was amazing and I can't wait for Batman: Bad Blood! Also two more episodes of season 1 for Justice League

One of the few DC movies I’ve been waiting for you to see! A good movie that highlights Damian’s character growth and Batman being a dad. Not the best movie but had great development between Bruce & Damian. Like you brought up, this movie is adaptation of the Court of Owls storyline that was made in 2012. The Court of Owls story became one of the best Batman stories in the last decade and the Court of Owls themselves became huge that they became important part of Batman lore since then. They appeared of course in this movie and a few other things that I can’t cause of spoilers lol. One thing to note is people really want to see the Court in a live action movie particularly Robert Patterson’s iteration of Batman. While cool it wouldn’t work with the zombie Talons not fitting with the grounded world that movie set in unless they just make them normal ninjas. I think they would be cool villains in the new DCU James Gunn is building.

Another thing to mention is The Dollmaker is one of the newer Batman villains. For the little you see of him, you can see he’s one of the more disturbing villains next to Professor Pyg. I think the villain you were referring to was Professor Pyg in terms of that mission in Arkham Knight. Both are pretty similar in terms of motives. I mention in the Son of Batman reaction that when Damian was introduced in the comics, there were some people who didn’t like him because he was kind of a brat and jealous of the other Robins. Of course he was raised by Ra Al Ghul so it’s understandable why he’s the way he is but over time he did grew as a person and develop strong bonds with Bruce & the Bat family particularly Dick viewing him as a older brother. He and Selina even bonded over their love of animals feeding stray cats. I’m excited for your reaction to Batman: Bad Blood.

I'm probably in the minority, but I'm not a fan of this movie whatsoever. I think it has great choreography and action, but personally i prefer how the Court of Owls was handled in the comics (definitely recommend reading the whole story, and if you like it, read Scott Snyder's New 52 run). As for Damian, i think the main issue is that most writers don't know what to do with him, and his controversial introduction alongside some of the racist stuff surrounding Talia (they couldn't even help but do it the next movie...) doesn't really help. If you're interested, there's a really good Damian and Jon Kent (Superman's son) comic called Supersons that came out about 7 or 8 years ago, and it's probably the best writing Damian has had in my personal opinion. There's also an animated movie called Battle of the Superson if you're ever up for that one. It's not a must watch, but it's fairly good. Great reaction as always!

I loved the court of owls story i was 11 years old when the comic run by scott snyder began in 2011 and i was obsessed i even memorized the court of owls oath. Then they released this film a few years after and I quite enjoyed it despite it not being a direct adaptation of the comic. I hated damian tho but now i appreciate him but as a teen i thought he was a little piece of u know what lol
