Batman Beyond Splicers

I never noticed this as a kid but I'm realizing Terry is a really bad boyfriend. He didn't have to pull that batman disappearing act, he could have just said "I have to go Dana," I've always heard chimera pronounced "ky-MEER-uh." I think the show is just mispronouncing it. Ace the dog really makes this episode top tier. And I don't know, I guess I'd get some kind of hawk eye enhancement or something like that because I want better vision.

Such a freaky episode for a first episode of a new season. But considering you're watching this in October, it does work with Halloween. It honestly would be so weird and obviously dangerous if this actually became a thing IRL. The idea of teens splicing their DNA with an animals to turn into some hybrid creature is pretty messed up. I like how you pointed out when Terry got spliced by Dr. Cuvier, he was like Bruce by having just enough willpower to resist the change as we've seen Bruce get poisoned or hit with some chemical and be able to resist its effects through sheer willpower. I also find it funny how Terry basically became Man Bat with his splicing. Makes me wonder if Bruce had flashbacks to him fighting Man Bat. I also love how much they showcased Ace the Bat-Hound in this episode. How he was willing to throw himself into danger to protect Bruce and then later Terry, even if it means he gets hurt a bit. That's very on brand to what he's like in the comics as well. I can't wait for you to continue watching this and also eventually Static Shock season 2. I also hope you'll be able to mix in Green Lantern the Animated Series since it's on Tubi. And if you have time, to check out the Green Lantern lore videos I put on your discord cause I love seeing your reactions to some lore as well

We are back! Great reaction. This is good timing as this episode clearly felt like a Halloween episode lol. It’s interesting you brought up Man Bat a few times cause believe it not but while it wasn’t stated in the episode but Cuvier based his splicing formula from the one used by Dr Kirk Langstrom aka Man Bat. Also the doctor from that one BTAS episode, Tyger Tyger which had that scientist turn Selina into a literal Catwoman. In a tie in comic, it was revealed that Cuvier worked with that Doctor & overtime used the Man Bat formula to make his splicers. Of course we see Terry turn into a Man Bat which Bruce clearly had flashbacks in that encounter. Also why Bruce already had an antidote ready too. If anything, this is another example of things from Bruce’s past coming back in the future that Terry has to deal with. We saw with Mr Freeze returning, Bane’s venom being used to give to teens, & now seeing that Man Bat creation led to people getting spliced in the future. I’m excited for you to see s2. I do agree to watch this & Static to have variety and be a way to get to Justice League Unlimited as I know you are excited to see it. Of course take all the time you need. I do think for s2 as it’s the longest of the three with 26 episodes is to do a list of important ones. I made that list in your Beyond 1x13 reaction of which ones to watch on camera if you like. Also I hope you do decide to check out Batman vs Dracula since you mention on your recent stream that it fits with the spooky season. It’s a underrated gem and one of the more creepy dc films in terms of atmosphere. It is set in the world of the 2004 The Batman cartoon which is another iteration of a year 3 Batman but it’s a standalone story that you can watch it without having to seen the show. But it does at least give you a look into what the series is like with the animation, tone, voice acting, & seeing different interpretations of the characters. :)
