Love your reactions!!! This was a great one, I'm late to the party! Also, not sure if anyone said this already, but the asgardian actor who plays Thor is portrayed by Chris Hemsworth's brother, Luke Hemsworth XD

misti-step

this movie has some of my favorite loki scenes, and thats saying something with how many great loki scenes there are in these movies!

Mage Reacts

YESSSS Tom Hiddleston absolutely killed it tbh

HeroesKey

Still my absolute favorite Thor movie. This movie made me a big fan of Loki and even more of a fan of Thor. I just love how epic they made Thor especially with his lightning. I can’t get enough of the scene with him on the Bifröst bridge with his eye glowing and just looking epic before he starts kicking ass. I love it! Also after you guys rewatch Black Panther (since I think you guys mentioned you watched it already), I’m gonna be eagerly waiting for the Avengers Infinity War reaction. I know that reaction is gonna be amazing!!

Onno Smits

Want more Taika Waititi? Try "Jojo Rabbit" (2019) which he wrote and directed. It's my favourite non-MCU movie from the past decade. It's a brilliant blend of weird/sad/funny/satire that absolutely smashes.

Taika is, in fact, a God. In this movie Loki just keeps getting better, our little SCAMP. Also, the introduction to Valkyrie *chef kiss*. We love our bi Queen. Also nerdy Bruce 🥰 And Odin finally dies, that alone makes it a perfect Thor movie🎉 😂

glad u guys loved this! it’s one of my favorites! i always feel conflicted ab odin bc of how important he was to thor but also bc of how much he reminds me of my own father. i think ppl’s feelings ab these characters reflects their own experiences which is great bc everyone is different! can’t wait for y’all to continue the journey!

Joel

sorry, I understand your feelings about Odin. but the screenplay is giving you the answers and y'all are apriori rejecting it. Why does the blame stop with Odin? why not Frigga, or his father King Bor? Y'all are so adamant about pinning all the negative things on Odin and absolving responsibility from anyone else. And apparently, Odin isn't allowed any redemption but warmonger Tony Stark can change and is suddenly loved?

Tony Nav

okay lol i get the hate for odin but two things can be true at the same time. odin is terrible. hella is horrible as well. even worse tbh because odin stopped conquering and genociding but hella wanted to keep doing it so he trapped her to stop her. odin definitely shouldnt have tried to cover it up though, thats horrible. they are both horrible lol also, very glad you guys liked this movie, the humor is fantastic!

FearTheTREMOR

Eh Odin *was horrible. Odin has had a dark past. But quite literally everyone in the world is ashamed of things they want to hide. That's why he was so harsh to Loki. He was going down that same path. But he made quite a turnaround from a galaxy conquering warlord. Did he make bad parenting decisions? Yes. The whole family made questionable choices and that includes Loki. The good thing is, he told Loki he loved him without adding that he wish Loki was better or anything else. He loves him. No it wasn't ideal, they all needed more time to speak their hearts, but he said what needed to be said.

FearTheTREMOR

Well she's said before that her trauma hits home with Odin, so it's gonna be clouded. I disagree wholeheartedly with it cause yeah it's kind of hypocritical, as hes made bad parenting choices, but theres a clear cut valid ass reason why he's so harsh to his kids' choices. He saw Loki and Thor in the first Thor movie going down the same dark path he went down, which was not okay by any means. It probably reminded him of Hela going down the same path too. But people have their own hurts and that's okay. Trauma blinds people, literally that's how all (well written) villains are made. Not that Meg is a villain, but Hela was blinded, Loki too, and luckily Loki saw that he was loved, and that encouraged him to make good decisions.

Earth Angel Shelbs

i understand your frustration but saying “trauma blinds people” is kind of presumptuous because trauma doesn’t look the same for every individual nor does it necessarily “blind” them to things. personally, i’m able to empathize with odin in some ways bc he reminds me of my father but that doesn’t change the fact that his behavior/actions can be triggering for many ppl. everyone is different and there’s no one right way to react to some of these characters.

FearTheTREMOR

No but Meg has talked about her trauma with parents before, and what you would say "triggering" is what I meant by blinding. I'm not meaning to shove words in Megs mouth or anything like that, and yeah some people may not feel sympathy for the people I think deserve it, but the hypocrisy can he explained with the triggers like you're saying. Like if someone like Kratos can be redeemed as a father, then certainly someone like Odin deserves the chance to do so as well, with the time he had left since he was essentially on his deathbed. What else could Odin have said to Loki other than certify his love? Did he leave a huge problem on their plate? Absolutely. But Odins biggest offense to Loki was lying to him about being adopted. He constantly expected him to stop acting out, instead of letting him know he's loved. But he amended that the best he could in his final moments. And lest we forget, if Loki hadn't cast a spell on Odin, he wouldn't of died that soon, and they could have worked out their issues more so like 🤷‍♂️😅

Tony Nav

odin definitely had a redemption but that redemption is something that has to be an active thing forever, its not like one day hes fully redeemed and all is forgiven

FearTheTREMOR

I hear you but redemption isn't a rewards card. It's not something to be taken away. And you can't always be good. You're going to fuck up and make mistakes. Anyone who thinks otherwise is literally living in a delusion. Odin is much better than the person he used to be, but he makes mistakes in his parenting. That doesn't make him a bad person. It makes him human (He's not a human but you know what I mean. To exist is to be imperfect) that's the point I try to drive home whenever people hate on a character. To be redeemed is really just to try and do right by others. Be the best version of you that you can be. The Odin that died, was a MUCH better person than the murdering overlord he used to be 😅 he was flawed in parenting, but there's a reason for it. Each of his kids he failed and they went down the same dark path he did. He went harsh because he wanted to correct that path and keep that from happening. Thats totally valid. But he got what he needed to say out. He loves his kids. In his case, that's enough for the time he had.

FearTheTREMOR

Odin stuff aside, Loki is right to be angry, but no you can't really take out your pain on others. Not even the cause. That's never really okay. Like Odins death was directly Lokis fault 😅 he stripped him of his power, leaving him weak like a mortal. Lokis cool and all but he still takes blame for his choices as does Hela. Odin was on a terrible path as a warlord, conquering world's and most likely slaughtering innocents. One day, most likely he witnessed something that woke him up and made him realize he has to stop. Once Hela found out, she seemed to have refused and got hostile when he made the choice. The Choice to continue this behavior is on Hela. Odin wasn't about to fight his kid, so imprisoning her was the only option. Like Odin isn't blameless, but he had an epiphany and stopped being a piece of garbage. Thats a good thing. What else should he have done? I'm not being mean but I like discussing this. He did what essentially Kratos did. He was really awful, then he had a turn around. Odin deserves the chance same as Kratos even if he doesn't express the love as he should. He expressed it and you can see Lokis face looking up at Odin saying that he loves him, despite his past actions including literally brainwashing him 🤣 its not some realization that Loki sees Odins nature Odin professed his love in the final moments of his life. It's not that he decided to leave them its that he died, which he has no choice over. It's not right to absolve Loki of sin while putting it all on Odin just saying. The choices someone makes, no matter how fucked up, are on the people that made them. Loki decided to invade Earth. To repeatedly deny Thors love. To manipulate Thor over and over like come on Meg. It was Helas choice to continue her violent choices. Odin didn't lock her away like a weapon that's mere speculation. He decided to stop being a murdering conqueror, and Hela wasn't having it. Yes it's bad parenting to act like that around her in the first place, but Odin isn't some mastermind manipulator that his kids need to learn to outgrow. He never enabled the behavior of his kids. He was the first one to stop. Kids generally copy their parents, so Hela probably thought it was normal. That part is on Odin but how is he at fault for deciding to be better? The answer is he isn't. And Odin didn't want his kids to fight so they aren't somehow playing into what Odin wants, since he literally wants the opposite of violence and war. He had a dark past, realized his evil, stopped himself and tried to correct his kingdom including his daughter, and did the best he could trying to keep his kids from repeating the mistakes that he made. But in the end of the day, he loved them. Denying Odin any credit whatsoever that he couldn't talk to him in the afterlife is just wrong. Yes, that was Odin so there's no point in denying it. If you rewatch the first Thor, Odin said to Thor he was proud of Thor. Like he's shown Thor his adoration before and it's pure madness to try and deny truth tbh. Side thing, no the Grandmaster is not the same as The Collector, although in the comics they are brothers so are are similar in a way. Loki wasn't scared for Thor in the fight, he said he placed a wager against Thor, not for him. So he was looking for his brother to get hurt once again and he was scared cause Hulk gave him the fattest beat down of his life last time he saw him 🤣 Hulk and Bruce are two completely different people. They are essentially two different personalities. So Hulk is not just Bruce all angry. It's another mind. And you guys laughing at Bruce literally dying on the bridge is absolutely criminal 🤣 He died he wasn't just hurt holy hell that was crazy

Narutoanime16

I love how it was funny and sad at times and getting more with Bruce and Hulk as people and Thor and Loki everyone grew this movie I loved it! I can so see Thor having fun with the Guradians if he ever meets them. I related to Thor a lot in this one and Bruce everyone had good arcs for the screen time they had

Mage Reacts

I'm confused because I think we did acknowledge almost all of the characters' shortcomings? Except Frigga but she wasn't mentioned a lot in the movie. We see more of Tony's redemption arc because there are many movies with him proving he wants to be better. I'm editing the video but I'm 10000% sure we talk about where the others went wrong. It's heartbreaking to read comments that we're not listening to the screenplay, my trauma is "blinding" me, idk it makes me want to be way less active on here. I'm taking a step back, but please realize that speaking in this tone to anyone can make them feel small and excluded from the fandom. - Meg

Joel

I'm not the one claiming someone's trauma is blinding them. that's a presumptuous claim. my comment was about how the context and exposition of the script should inform our feelings about characters. You rightly point out that since we've spent more time with Tony that it's evident the arc his character has gone through. But by that same logic, since we don't have much screen time showing Odin's path as King of Asgard, we shouldn't be quick to burden him with the majority of the blame in the story of Thor and his family. Odin has issues for sure, but he also loves his sons. And the story about Hela was later revealed to be more about her ravenous pursuit of the throne and it drove her to massacre the palace.
