This was really good. I'm so mad about how Henry was treated.

Oh no

The music, visuals, symbolism of Jesus and acting was sooo good ugh Hans Zimmer music is the best in this and Clark was so just lucky and blessed to have an amazing family on Earth and Krypton in his life both wanting him to make his own choices growing up. If you ever get around to seeing Smallville btw the Johnathan Kent gets much more developement than just having a few scenes then dying. Only negative I have in this is how Johnathan died but I get the point of it narratively. Keep going Meg your knowledge of DC is only gonna get deeper and I LOVED during the gravity machine part when its holding him down his face looks like Christopher Reeve I was bawling seeing that scene

And with this reaction we begin your journey through the DCEU. Visually I love what Zack Snyder did with this movie and with the other DC movies he did following this. I also thought Henry Cavill was an incredible choice to play Superman/Clark Kent and I think for the time he had, he did a fantastic job with it. Even though I was never a fan of the vision that Snyder had for this universe, I think it’s okay for what it is. And if there are people who really enjoyed his films, I'm happy for them as well and would never shame them for it like I've seen some do. It's a real shame that WB meddled a ton with these movies and pretty much tried to rush Snyder into making their cinematic universe in order to catch up with the MCU. It's why with all the negativity surrounding the DCEU, I was happy you got hooked on DC through the games and animated stuff first since many people who have watched only the live action stuff, especially the DCEU films, were not fans of the direction and tone of the movies. And while I can understand that, the feeling most people felt about the films basically made general audiences bail out of watching anything DC related. Not even giving the animated stuff a chance. It's why I love your reactions Meg cause regardless of negativity surrounding a movie or show, you always seem to bring out the positive of it all and/or you yourself just loved it (as I can tell by the thumbnail). I'm interested to see your reaction and hear your thoughts on this as well as the other DCEU films eventually. Also I haven't watched the reaction yet but Meg idk if you noticed and I don't think anyone has pointed it out but the actress who plays Clark's biological mother Lara Lor-Van on Krypton is the same actress who plays Vanessa in Daredevil

I've always been someone who liked Man of Steel tbh. I won't spoil things for future reactions, but i liked BvS and disliked Justice League. However, i was never a major hater the way some were, and I always liked this one and Wonder Woman.

Also I must say, one of my favorite things about Meg's reactions is that she's very empathetic to people in the films/television shows. It makes her an inherently compelling person to react to because she really attaches to the story/characters. I'm having a great time with her full length reacts.

So, like you said, while there is no Man of Steel 2, BvS and Justice League DO continue the stories of the Superman you met here. Both movies had mixed receptions, but are for sure worth a watch if you enjoyed this! And the Snyder cut of Justice League is LONG but SOOO good and much better than the theatrical release (which had some issues due to studio intervention and Snyder having to leave early due to personal family issues (death of his daughter)). You meet some other characters in Justice League and can watch their movies after too! Loved the reaction and your thoughts on the themes of the movie!

I can just see her crying at the Flash show if she ever saw that least S1-3

I feel you on that. It’s why I’ve been subscribed to Meg for so long and keep coming back to these reactions cause I love how attached she gets to these characters and the story. Regardless of my feelings towards a film or show, Meg’s reactions to them brings so much more enjoyment to them and I kind of gain a new appreciation for the movie or show that maybe I didn’t have when I saw it the first time. It’s why it makes me so excited for her to get into the other DC movies and shows eventually. Both animated and live action. Cause I know she’s going to not only have so many more emotional moments during them but also to hear her thoughts and ideas on what she thinks of them

2026-09-19 16:00 If you decide to watch Batman vs Superman, you better watch Ultimate Edition. Its better than theatrical cut.

I agree, and Lois is a much more developed character in the ultimate edition.

Great reaction...I hope you watch the pilots for Lois and Clark, and smallville....as a fellow Fan of Henry Caville I have heard he is taking on another iconic character in a remake of Highlander. The first Highlander movie would be a great one for you and Caleb to check out. The Highlander TV series is great but all the sequel movies are not very good. Keep up the great work.

I saw this movie twice in theaters, and many times at home and my eyes still tear up at multiple points. I love your enthusiasm for this Meg. And yeah that was Doctor Hamilton from the cartoon series. Also when they were in the arctic that one military guy at the computer played Doctor Hamilton in Smallville. So in that one scene there were 2 Doctor Hamiltons actually. I love the Pa Kent's character, he want's his son to be a force for good in the world, but at the same time is terrified how the world will treat his son, and these 2 ideas are kind conflict with each other. The Kent's didn't have all the answers but they were doing their best for their boy. Also your question about the title "Man of Steel" it's kind of a nickname for Superman like how the Dark Knight is a nickname for batman. I hope you watch the Batman v Superman ultimate edition, because the theatrical cut... well it cuts out vital scenes. The Ultimate edition is the better version.

Love your reaction as always! I really like this movie. I think this continuity definitely has its ups and downs, but this is definitely a good one! Really enjoying getting to continue with you on your DC journey!

Finally got to watching your reaction and while I still have some of the same complaints about the film that I had initially, as I've said in my first comment, I definitely have more of an appreciation for this movie watching this with you. With how much you get emotional and empathetic for these characters makes watching this all the more worth it and it's why I always come back to not only your reactions but some of your playthroughs like your God of War and the Batman Arkham games. I'm interested to see what you think about Batman v Superman The Ultimate Edition as while I don't really like that movie overall either, there are some aspects of it that I do really like. BVS is also the movie that I remember when I started to see a lot of the divisiveness for Snyder's movies. So it'll be interesting to see what you think of it and I'm sure you'll probably cry just as much as you did in this as it does get heavy in that movie as well. I also hope that once you upload the Youtube version of this reaction and the BVS reaction eventually that the people in the comments are nice. And while I can understand the sadness of Henry Cavill no longer playing Superman, I do have some hope for James Gunn's DCU, even though I'm also still hesitant of what his universe will be. I'm also interested to see how David Corenswet will do in the role. And while I can understand how similar he and Henry look, I really dislike the people saying that he's just a discount Henry. Like yes they look similar but both of them look like Superman and that should be one of the points. So I don't really care for the hate he gets, especially when Superman Legacy hasn't even started filming yet. But anyhow, I'm interested to see what you think about the rest of the DCEU. Also I'm super excited for whenever you react to Superman vs The Elite. Still my favorite Superman movie of all time!

Mage Reacts

Definitely watching extended version, even if it has to be in chunks, lol!

Spidey Productions

I hope you either watch the movie on hbo or play the game Lego Batman 2 Dc Super Heroes unite awesome story

SomeOneGuy

I absolutely love Man of Steel, Batman V Superman (Directors cut) and Justice League Snyder Cut. Also, I live in Kansas City, so when the Man of Steel came out, a lot of people in my area were ridiculously excited to see Clark wear that Royals t-shirt. I mean to a crazy degree even the local news channels had a story on it. Apparently a lot of people either forgot or didn't know he was from Kansas lol!
