I said this on YouTube as well but yeah you hit the nail on the coffin about light. he thought himself better than everyone before getting the death note. now he sees everyone including the death note & the people around him as his playthings. that's why L & now near are such perfect opponents for him as despite differing morals where it counts, L & near have such a similar personality to light. which is why it's such a fascinating watch. despite wanting light to lose

Im proud of Near he's getting close and its interesting to see Light slipping in some spots where with L he was on top of his game even when he had his memory of the Death note gone his plan was still in effect
