LEGENDARY REFRESH (I definitely haven’t been refreshing every dozen hours)

So any bets on how long it will take Lola to tear up on the new Frieren episode? I'm setting the over/under at 2:45 lol

I'll put my money on himmel. Lola sees himmel and starts crying. :D

this episode is so horrifyingly beautiful, and I think the arc with the last episode is that Don has a couple of immediate reactions to people he cares about that on the surface don't seem as significant to him as they of course are to the other people - the money at Peggy, the firing of Lane. Don's core characteristic is his own deep guilt and wrongdoing that allow him to see others less judgmentally. But in these episodes he has lost that - to tragic consequences, for him and for others. Don's actions previously have put the company in jeopardy (the federal form Pete has to interfere with) and Lane's actions are not more endangering than Don's have been and are a smaller breach of trust than Don's life-long one. And Don's reasons for not coming clean are similar to Lane's. In the end, after it all, Don asking Glenn what he would do if he could do anything feels to me like Don remembering to not abide by the possibly-arbitrary-in-life norms of what is allowed and what isn't. // Also, Lane in the Don conversation sounds like Don in the Peggy conversation of last episode - all the emotions and trying all the arrows in the quiver (as beautifully referenced in a comment on the cut version of the episode). Don's superpower is his own breaches of norms/trust/truth and how that helps him to see the humanity in others in key moments. That is endangered in these late season 5 episodes. I heart Don, and his run to Lane's office because "we can't leave him like that" ruins me every time. In true crisis, the softer empathetic Don surfaces. In 'office crisis', he forgets it at times. For me the other catalyst is Roger's outreach to Joan - so sincere and genuinely caring.
