Daniel Molina

Im ready for that damn reindeer to hurt me again 😭

Carlos

The audacity to pull off such serious heartfelt dialog in THAT wig

Yic17

like first. watch later. 😆

I've been waiting for ya'll to watch this ep, one piece is the anime/show that has destroyed me the most, like to the verge of throwing up... ever since you girls started saying "yeah this show is so happy, i love that it never hurt us" i figured there was no saving for you😭😭😭, and the fact that this is not even the saddest backstory either... girls you're in for a ride lol

Maria

One of my favorite parts of this story is when Kureha tells Chopper that there is no cure-all medicine, and thats why doctors are needed. This ties into why Kureha criticized Hiriluk, because Hiriluk wasn't properly trained as a doctor and would often do more damage than good to his patients (the frog case for example), and Kureha essentially is telling Chopper that if you want to help you need to know what you are doing, you can't just go off vibes and good will. However, Chopper still wishes to become the cure-all himself, bridging both Hiriluk and Kureha's ideals. He knows he needs knowledge to cure people, but he still has the dream of being knowledgeable and capable enough that he can cure anything. Chopper inherited Hiriluk's dream and Kureha's skills, and that makes him the best version of them :)

The author has never said this, but I think Chopper's character might be heavily inspired by Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein' (one of the greatest pieces of literature). Both have innocent beings trying to learn what it means to be human, and what greater example of humanity could Chopper have had than Hiriluk? Watching Chopper slowly learn kindness and compassion through his father never fails to make me cry. And Hiriluk protecting that innocence and love that Chopper gave him by not letting the mushroom kill him... oh this will always haunt me. One piece has this ability to combine the most absurd things you've ever seen with some of the realest human emotions you could ever find, and transform all that into a joyful experience. I'm so glad you girls loved this!! i can't wait for your thoughts on the end of the arc!!

giantevilbaby

bro gave a 99.9% accurate hiriluk performance, the wig didn't even seem like a costume

When does a man die? Is it when a bullet pierces his heart? Or he's stricken by an incurable disease? No. Is it when he eats soup made from a poisonous mushroom? No. No, no, no. No. No! A man dies when he is forgotten. I may disappear, but my dream will live on! And the ailing people of Drum will be healed. Dr. Hiriluk

Idk if you’re caught up with the story, but I think Oda might be purposely not revealing that this season for a certain reason… so idk if we should be letting the girls know this rn

Robert Dirk H.

This is probably my favorite episode of the season. Mark Harelik did a great job portraying Dr. Hiriluk. Mikaela Hoover did also a great job giving her voice to Chopper.

Alessio Del Gallo

they truly understand the spirit of One Piece, they have their own fanon where they take characters that should die for the plot and make them survive 😂 Oda would be proud

mingofn

This is the one, also them talking about loving witches… they might as well watch witch hat atelier

Truemeathead

Tripped me out when I was randomly watching an episode of Big Bang Theory and Dr Gablehauser strolled on screen. Took a moment to recognize him without the killer do but it eventually clicked. He was so good in this episode. I better at least see a guest actor Emmy nod for this dude if not a flat out win.

Robert Dirk H.

The costume design is great. It doesn't try to remove the cartoonish part out of story. It's not like X-Men or Batman where everything has to become realistic.

Scarmath

I love that Dr Kureha and Dr Hiriluk both represent different important parts of being a doctor: Kureha is the scientific knowledge, and Hiriluk is the compassion and empathy. And because Chopper learns from both of them, he ends up with a perfect balance.

My Toasty Toast

Haven’t seen the episode but seeing the caption I am immediately concerned for the reindeer

KittensandMotorcycles

Absolutely heartbreaking backstory both in the manga and live action... but they truly NAILED Hiruluk's actor in the LA. That guy is amazing!!

My Toasty Toast

I’m sorry wtf was this episode? This was like that Nick Offerman episode in TLOU

Maria

They haven't learned the golden rule of one piece deaths: If it happens in the present, doubt it, but if it happens in a flashback, it's the real deal (with some exceptions lol)

SunnyhuunS

It would be a fun video idea for them to watch some of the anime backstories. Would be cool to see how they like some small snippets of the anime without committing to all of it.

YUGEN KILLED

Girls, this backstory in the anime is 10x times WORST!! The fact I cried for 3/4 episodes straight, begining to end. I cannot love more Chopper
