Oh boy here we go

Jacob Blubby

Seeing this video get posted hit harder than seeing the finale released

Daniel Molina

Lola & Milena, i left this comment on your last video but ima leave it here too cuz y’all deserve it From the bottom of my heart, thank you for deepening my love and understanding for Attack on Titan. This show was the reason I found your channel and I swear, no one understood this show more than you two. My partner and I don’t know many ppl personally who watched the show, so your discussions were our major point of validation for our emotions throughout the series and grew my appreciation for the source material significantly. It was one hell of a ride and it will take a looooong time for it to sink in that its finally over, but y’all truly made the journey more meaningful, so thank you 😭🙏🏽 Shinzou Sasageyo 🫡

Komikall

YESS! STAYING UP LATE TONIGHT! <3

Johnny O

Thank you for helping me love the show all over again. Your videos were so much better than rewatching alone again :)

Bryce

3 hour discussion, LET'S GO!!!

Cody Jenkins

Thank you two sooooo much for making something truly special. Every episode you guys reacted to made me feel like I was watching for the very first time again, making me excited for things just over your reactions. An unbelievable amount of care and effort obviously goes into every one of your posts, thank you so much for everything you’ve made and will continue to make! And of course, “Attack on Titan ending?! No! I don’t want that! I want the series to continue on for another 10 years, at least!”

Michael Cannon

Incredible. Shows with such themes need the discussion.

oerwhat

One last time 🧣🕊️

My Toasty Toast

Ive never been so excited and so terrified to watch a YouTube video before. I’m not a frequent commenter but I’ve been subscribed on your patreon since season 1 (I left at one point for a couple months cause I lost my job and needed to save). I love your other reactions but, at least to me, this show has always been your definitive reaction series to me. Maybe I’m crazy but I’m almost emotional seeing this video finally up

Omar O

First time I subscribed to this or any Patreon, was to watch season 4 with you and now, here we are at the end and I couldn’t be happier… a bit sad but mostly thrilled, so thank you! You’re the GOATs 🫶🏽

Martin Roca

Dear lord, 4 hours??? Im so happy...

HenryM

Oh my god, 4 hours I can't believe it. This is gonna be the best podcast

Rye

It’s time. Man what a crazy journey it’s been. Aot will forever be engraved into our hearts. I’ve never been so invested into a show before and it’s characters. Sad to see it go. You guys are the best, gunna miss the aot reactions 😢

I Have No Enemies

FOUR hours on my favorite series from my favorite reactors?? Can't wait

sand_fl

that's so nice ❤️ this feels like when you finished korra and thus the avatar shows 😪 your aot reactions is what made me pay for patreon for the fist time ever and i'm still here 2 years later so... you're doing great. definitely going to miss your reactions to this show and its cliffhangers.

Billyjoe

I will never forget this journey and I am so glad to have watched the later half of the series with you guys :))

Gunner

After reading his recent NYT interview, I can't help but feel that the anime original "a garden variety idiot who got his hands on power" line is Isayama saying that about himself. He has been really apologetic over the criticisms of the ending, even apologizing publicly iirc. I hope the more positive reactions from the anime ending are making him feel better. Even if he didn't land the ending with a 10/10 execution, I was still happy with how things ended in terms of big picture stuff. Like you guys said the small details that weren't perfect are not what I'll remember years from now. I'll be forever grateful to Isayama sensei for creating these characters and this story. AoT will forever have a special place in my heart

StrawHat

I still remember when I first saw you guys start AOT on yt for the first time lmaooo I was hyped. you guys literally think the same as me about every show so watching with yall is so fun. I already posted my thoughts on the full reaction part but I'll say again just how beautiful this show is and the ending is perfect to me. AOT was everythinggg! The journey with this show is over but you guys are watching my other favourite show Hunter x Hunter and I can't wait to finish that with you guys too. love <3

Kevin Inoj Perez

Oh shit! 4 hours!! Hell Yeah! We're eating good tonight. I started being a fan of you two because of this show.

refo44

I'm so happy but sad at the same time. I started to follow you after your first reaction to AoT, and then I didn't leave your channel. It has been I long journey and I'm happy to be one of your overseas invisible friends.

sand_fl

tbh some of the most controversial things were fixed. specially the part where armin basically thanks eren for becoming a monster to protect them, which i definitely did not like. some others hate that part of eren whining about not being able to be with mikasa (i do not mind that scene though i makes me cringe a bit ngl). the problem is that the aot fanbase is one of the most toxic ones that exist and when some people did not like the ending they decided to harass isayama instead of just keeping their shit to themselves. then there's also the ones that shipped historia and eren and decided that he was the father of that baby and wrote their own season finale where he just rans off with her or some shit like that. it seems stupid but that shit has a big following for some reason.

Matheus

I will enjoy these 4 hours so much. Been feeling so sad that Attack on Titan is over, but i'm glad i got to meet this channel because of it. Thank you Lola and Milena for your amazing reactions and discussions, it was what made me find out this channel and now i watch everything with you two. I'm so glad you two loved this show as much as i did and I'll miss the AOT reactions so much, as it was always the best. Thanks to WIT, MAPPA, and Isayama for making this beautiful show from beginning to end. They couldn't have ended it better. It's the best piece of fiction, and you're the best reactors. I'll miss everything.

Jack SV

Yeah I’m gonna have to watch this in parts. Ain’t no way I can’t watch this in one seating lol good luck to the people who can do that.

iameNeRG (Rodney Gant)

Oh lord, I can't wait to watch the full uncut and then jump into the discussion

James

I joined your Patreon in season 3, but I started watching AoT 10 years ago, and it's hard to believe it's over now.

alon

wow I am sooo happy that I was able to experiece this beautiful show with you girls, you are soooo amazing when it comes to uderstanding characters and stories driven by emotions. Love you both

Eric

Seeing how much you love this makes me wish I could get over the disgusting race war premise so I could watch it.

space colon

I appreciate and respect how willing Isayama was to depict Eren as pathetic and selfish. I genuinely care about him as a character but I care about the rest of the cast substantially more I can understand on an intellectual level what he was going for when everyone was saying “oh I wish I could talk to Eren, I appreciate him curing us all of Titanhood” No one should have to have suffered like Eren did or be put in the position he was with the power he had. AND, at the same time, I think both this ending and the manga ending focus too much on him and his tragedy. Yes everything ties back to him but that’s something I just can’t appreciate for a number of reasons I feel like the story is MORE focused on me feeling sorry for Eren and the tragedy of his character than it is on the other characters getting real resolutions

Doeyi Tokki

that panel of levi with gabi and falco was changed in the anime but certainly it was there in the end of the manga at least

Yic17

Joined up with you guys toward the end of S3. It's been a journey. Thank you my favorite reactors and human beings.

StrawHat

I just found out one of the parts ppl had a big problem with was Eren crying and whining to Armin about how much he loves Mikasa?? why lmaoo he was so in love with her the whole show it was so obvious but there was always so much going on and he had one last chance to vent to his bestie. I feel like sometimes we forget that he's literally a teenager and this is his first love I'm sorry he's not gonna fit into the super badass, doesn't give af type of character trope yall want him to be.

tom

I appreciate you posting this here and your reasoning warmed my heart. It's been a great journey, and I'm thankful to you for covering this series and connecting with it as deeply as you did. And I'm thankful to this series for introducing me to your channel. First Mr Robot, and now this. It's a bittersweet thing when such journeys come to an end. Here's to the next one, I'll be here until it happens because I have a feeling it'll be soon... And holy hell, 4 hours. Well, this gives me more motivation to finish my work early.

Jay

To explain why Connie and Jean didn’t get on falcos back, The reason they didn’t is because if the smoke ended up reaching falco Connie and Jean would have transformed on top of falco and they wouldn’t have been able to fly to Eren. Atleast that’s the way I saw it.

Kazumasa
>>121777085

If you think about it the whole story is pretty much just following how he slowly lost his way

space colon
>>121777085

I think that’s totally fair, like even the opening scene of the manga starts at the tree I just really wanted a longer epilogue I’d guess

enchantertim
>>121780252

Isn't the answer simple? Connie and Jean already inhaled the smoke before the others hopped on Falco and flew away. It was already too late for them, they were gonna transform either way

Jay
>>121780252

Yes it’s just the scene went a bit to fast so the girls didn’t understand it. When I watched I had to reply it once to understand.

Deno Baanu

Thank you ever so much Lola and Milena for giving us such a wonderful journey to go along with one of the greatest shows ever created. you guys have been the best reaction channel ever. Love from the Maldives.

michelle Meliton

Hmm im only at the 2hr 46min mark, idk if they understood that it was a fixed fight and they were always suppose to lose. Ymir is a god of the eldians and can do whatever she wants with them. They cant win. She doesnt even need to fight them, she can just transform them into tiny titans and leave them in the dust. Anyways, i have like way on more this. Just a quick thing i wanted to say. She was there to bear witness to Armin and Zeke's conversation, she gave the clue to armin that he is in the paths (the sand), she brought him to zeke (which later he comes out and gives himself up to levi because he is doing what he think will stop the rumbling, but at this point royal blood + founder is a non-factor since Eren freed ymir in a previous episode. This is also backuped by the fact that Eren turned into a collosal. You cant do that without Ymir's power). Everything had to make sense for the characters to continue for them to fight on just like the smoke on the cliff (they associate that gas with ragako village). It was for Ymir to witness Mikasa's choice (to give her free will in that moment. It is important for gods to witness things). making the choice which was the path that Eren chose to follow (without knowing what choice miakasa would make or what it would be, but knowing it would rid the titans of the world and he could achieve his twisted idealogy of freedom.) Edit: also, the fact that Ymir is smiling when she is standing behind Mikasa when she made her choice. Both Eren and Mikasa are the Antithesis to Ymir. Edit again: I guess i will also add that all these rules when it pertains to the power of the titans is entirely have to do with Ymir's mental state for exmaple dying after 13 years. Now, not obeying the commands of the royal bloods. ANYWAYS im so sorry if this was said already.... maybe it will help someone else though.

I Have No Enemies
>>121778564

Yup! It's literally Eren's character from the beginning, he's been whinny and pathetic multiple times before. And yes he's always loved her from the start, specially with S2 ending "I will wrap that scarf around you" but the ending haters wanted him to end up with Historia somehow lmao

Harfie
>>121776128

Hiii, just curious what about that premise stops you from watching it?

killezio3 killezio3

Watching this final episode made me realize Zeke's plan was kinda the only way to go about it

Eric
>>121776128

Well, the fact that the creators present the genocide as a good thing in the show. It's not complex.

Alex

I also think with time to process individual scenes things get a lot easy to digest and understand. I was very happy with the finale and thought it touched on all the major themes of show that were built up over so many seasons. Love the reactions and discussions as always ❤️

Arben
>>121776128

You're right that it's not complex, but you've still managed to get it backwards. The show is very explicit in its condemnation of fascism, genocide, and even war more generally throughout.

StrawHat
>>121778564

That's who Eren always was exactlyy! and the "I will wrap that scarf around you" line gets me every time omgg

Orr Malus

The reason why people are so split on the ending is the conversation between Eren and Armin. Those that weren't really bothered by it loved the ending, and those that were hated it. The obvious solution was to just remove it entirely. I think everyone is in agreement that in of itself it's a pretty idiotic scene. Letting the viewer know they had a conversation but also keeping it a mystery would have resolved a lot of issues for everyone.

Kevin Ricardo

Hello Milena and Lola, i don't know if you're gonna read this comment but still i have to thank you for your reactions. First i have to tell you that my english its so poor, so i'm sorry if i write wrong something. I descovered you because of this show, when you see episode 4 of season 3. I think that was like 2 years ago, and when i see you for the first time i was really surprised because your discussions were really amazing. Since that, i started to watch every show that you started to post, even if i didn't see. I remember watch Arcane, Vinland, Cyberpunk, The last of us, Sense 8, The boys, Breaking bad, etc. My days are more peaceful when i see your videos and thats the reason why i have to thank you so much for all this time. Even if you don't know you really help me to going on, and i think that i'm not the only one. I love you guys because you are important part of my days. Aot is one of my favorite shows, i watched it in 2013 for the first time and when first season was over i started to read the manga mensualy. One of my favorite parts of read the manga was making theories with friends after each chapter, that was really funny because Isayama sometimes was really unpredictable. But i didn't know that see how someone else react to the show would be one of my favorite parts too. I think that see your discussions each episode remember me when i talked with my friends about Aot. Now you are watching another of my favorites anime HxH. You don't know how happy that make me. I'll be there until you stop making reactions (hope no soon). Muchas gracias chicas❤ saludos desde Honduras 🇭🇳

Re: the Ackermanns, it's not explained in the show but the manga says something about their being the result of "titan science" experiments. More or less, they can access some of the strength and healing abilities of titans even though they're human. When in serious danger, they can also access the knowledge and experience of their whole bloodline through Paths, and thus "know exactly what to do." I think this means that they're kind of considered "already titans" and can't be transformed into pure titans. (I bet if they ate a shifter's spinal fluid they would be able to become a shifter, given this way of thinking, but I can't be sure.) It kinda sucks that this wasn't in the show because it's honestly pretty interesting, but I feel like it might have also brought up too many questions. (Granted, having Levi yell "ackermanns are immune!" kinda outta nowhere in the finale of all things means they probably should have talked about it earlier, because Levi should have no way of knowing this.) They're also apparently immune to memory erasure/rewriting by the founder, but they can certainly enter Paths as we see. If we're concerned about mechanics, I think that Eren living out the "Long Dream" with Mikasa is a thing that really happened in Paths and happened right at the moment where Mikasa experienced it in the show, since otherwise she would have remembered it on account of its inability to be erased. Last note: bringing the last generation of shifters out of Paths seemed really mechanically fair to me. They all still exist there in Paths, so it seems fair to me that they could exist in their titans' bodies: after all, there's no "human" left inside of the pure titans but the human inside can "magically" come back if they eat a shifter (or if the power of the titans goes away altogether )... so Paths really is doing something with Eldians' *personalities and memories*, metaphysically, that keeps them alive and "stored" in Paths and can transmit them wherever and whenever the founder wants. But like y'all said; what really mattered was the thematic payoff, and it was great.

Payam Sharifi
>>121778564

I honestly never considered that Eren is capable of romantic feelings ngl, and I certainly didn't see the scarf thing as a romantic gesture at all, although I definitely thought it felt romantic to Mikasa. With that said I do like that he got a pathetic moment before the end, if only because Eren fans have been annoying me.

StrawHat
>>121778564

I took it as him being a teenage boy who can’t really express his feelings properly😭 which is why the only time we see him confess is just before he dies to his best friend

tom
>>121781123

I think this is possible but I see Ymir as more so letting things play out because she's just as curious as Eren is on what Mikasa will do. The titans are on autopilot, with pre-programmed instructions. Zeke and Armin's collective consciousnesses were able to bring some of the titans into the paths and imbue them with their own will and freedom, so Ymir let it happen. But what she wasn't going to let happen was Eren's death. She wasn't satisfied or relieved yet, and I think she would've kept resurrecting Eren as many times as possible while he kept moving forward until Mikasa, the link between them, ended it all. It may have even been Mikasa's kiss that Ymir needed, because ultimately it was an emotional decision not a logical one. EDIT - I also think that the worm was just operating on self-preservation. Whatever it was, or is, it may have attached to Ymir in the first place just to survive. Maybe Ymir was controlling it, but it also could've just been doing whatever it could to not be killed.

enchantertim
>>121782797

"If we're concerned about mechanics, I think that Eren living out the "Long Dream" with Mikasa is a thing that really happened in Paths and happened right at the moment where Mikasa experienced it in the show" I strongly believe in this. She didn't remember, she lived that experience at that exact moment. If it was a memory that was erased temporarily, then she would have remembered it AFTER killing Eren, because everybody else remembered after Eren died unlike Mikasa. The only thing that complicates this is the line by Mikasa saying "You remembered too" to Armin. But I think when she says "too", I hope what she means that she knows that Eren visited everybody and erased their memory only to be regained again after his death, and that Armin is now remembering like everybody else. Now how does she know this? Well, some paths shit :D, you can explain away everything with paths lol

Harfie
>>121776128

It’s actually the opposite. The show is all about the horrors of genocide that arise from scapegoating a race. If you’re someone with a working head on your shoulders, you can understand when you watch it. There are some fans that completely misinterpret the show and cheer for their fav characters amidst the harrowing scenes with genocide, which I absolutely do not understand, because the show goes above and beyond to illustrate how it’s anti-war. Either way I highly recommend you give it a try and make your own judgment on it. Especially since you also like LM! Their reactions to AOT are pure entertainment, and their discussions are awesome.

Arben
>>121782797

Okay, I had some time left in the review and I see you came to the same conclusion about Mikasa's time in Paths. And man, I can't even listen to y'all talking about the bird tightening Mikasa's scarf and then Mikasa thanking Eren—with the same words as in 2x12, in maybe my favorite scene of the whole show—for wrapping the scarf around her. I can't take it :'( edit: Tim, right, I think that makes sense! Another wrench is that Armin asks: "so, how did it go with Mikasa?" when he's "on the boat" in the 4.3.1 special. But: Eren is not bound by time that way, so he knew he would be spending that time with Mikasa and how it would end and certainly could have told Armin about "before it happened".

I Have No Enemies

Just from the pre-episode discussion, I can tell you guys nailed the entire ending and the whole point of the story. And you even guessed exactly right which loud minority had problems with the ending. Those ending haters wanted Eren to win, complete the rumbling, and kill all his friends in the process; it made zero sense lol. Also Lola calling Eren "pathetic" before even watching is just *chef's kiss*

Tiana

So grateful my friend sent me one of your AoT videos years ago. I have shown your videos to my other friends and they love you guys too. It has been so fun watching you guys react to my favorite show and I'm honestly going to miss it as much as the actual show. Love you guys!

Sebastian

Haven’t heard all their thoughts yet but here I just want to express how special these aot reactions have been. Seeing Lola and Milena connect so deeply to the story and characters has only deepened my appreciation for this story ive read/watched and loved for the better part of a decade. From their ackerman theories that flopped, the million ways to say Bertholdt, their iconic 2x06 reaction, when they predicted Levi smiling, how exhausting and exciting s4p1 was, watching s4p2 week to week, it all feels nostalgic now. I'm glad I came across their channel because of aot 2 years ago because since then ive been exposed to so many other fantastic shows (mr robot, vinland, the wire, bcs, mob etc etc.) and im looking forward to whatever comes next ❤️

Jesse S

Haven’t watched the video yet just wanna say I started watching this show because of your videos and it’s been the most amazing and mind blowing journey so thank you guys I’m sad that it’s over. AoT is the greatest anime ever made

tom
>>121776128

No one has to read or watch anything they're not okay with, but you're being ignorant by acting like you can make such a judgement without knowing the full picture. It's fine if you are uncomfortable, but to talk about something from secondhand information is disappointing. Also I read the article you linked, and it seems like you're cherry-picking. The author admits that she would understand if other people dismiss her criticisms, because it's very personal and subjective for her. She also says that despite having these issues with the manga she keeps reading it because she enjoys the story. Her conclusion is that the analogy is "uncomfortable", but that Isayama portrays the plight of Eldians in a compassionate way.

Kevin Inoj Perez

Currently 3 hours into this. I just wanna say "Shinzo wo Sasageyo" to the batteries that died for this wonderful review of the finale.

tom
>>121781472

Not necessarily. Zeke and Eren's plans were both born out of their fucked up childhoods. Not everything has to be on one extreme of one side getting exterminated. The Scouts who wanted a middle ground had their efforts undermined by Eren and his pessimism.

tom

I'll reply to your questions / observations and keep it brief: - The new manga content (April 2024) is a short Levi backstory, and there's a chance there's a snippet of him spending time with Falco/Gabi. If the manga image you saw was the three of them in Marley watching a plane, that's how it was in the final chapter and I suspect the anime decided to change it to fit Isayama's most recent drawing. - You answered your own question, Jean and Connie are regular humans and as such can be transformed into titans by ingesting titan steam / consuming spinal fluid. I agreed it was rushed, though this wasn't a popular opinion with the manga and I think it's because when dramatic moments happen in a readable format you typically take your time to read it slowly. But I don't know how else the anime could have adapted it to be honest. - Not to again go "iN tHE mAnGA!!" but yes, the anime made Mikasa's rush towards Eren a LOT more chaotic. I understand why they wanted to have a sakuga sequence with Levi especially, but in the manga it has a lot more of a quiet, simple slow motion feeling. I did notice that Milena was a bit caught off guard when the final kill happened and it was a bit unfortunate for such a moment to happen that way. I think sometimes heavy animation can work with the story (Levi vs Annie/Zeke, Floch rushing to the plane etc) but sometimes it works against the story and just confuses the viewer's eyes. - Your idea that Eren simply brought Mikasa into the coordinate rather than wiping her memories is sadly contradicted by two things. First, Mikasa explicitly says to Armin that they both now "remember" their time with Eren, implying they forgot. Secondly, Armin refers back to what Eren told Mikasa when he's having his own talk with Eren and we know that chronologically this took place in the previous special, so Mikasa's talk happened before even that. - There definitely are layers to Eren and none of his one-on-one conversations in the final season -- be they with Ramzi, Falco, Reiner, Zeke and Armin -- paint the full picture. But together they comprise his motivation, what he's searching for after reaching the ocean. On a rewatch, I think those conversations are things you should pay attention to. It's sort of like everything in the first three seasons sets it up and then the last season is a piece-by-piece unfolding of what made him break. I already made a general comment so I'll just say thanks for everything, and wow it was weird realizing I don't have to double check my comment for accidental spoilers anymore.

Orr Malus
>>121773694

😅 A lot of people figured it out which is why I think Isayama (might have) changed it. In season 4, during Reiner and Eren's conversation in the basement there's a scene confirming the twist: - here is when Reiner references it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRlQtdnIQ2E&ab_channel=fokoshiler - here is how the conversation went down: https://youtu.be/gEBFqSA3xXY?si=jSodr0_mjheIQVTa&t=80 Eren forgot the words he said to Reiner because he acted out of jealousy. Once he remembered he felt embarrassed which is why the sudden change of tone in the conversation. It's a whole pattern throughout the series: Eren loses his mind at each instance of Historia being in danger. Plus there's all the times Eren tells Historia he's doing it all because of her. This is not to say there's nothing going on with Eren and Mikasa. They draw a clear parallel between Eren and evil King Fritz. The latter is always depicted surrounded by horny women. I guess Eren wanted his own little harem as well.

michelle Meliton
>>121782399

It is one of the most momental moments in the anime? Who the hell says that conversation is idiotic? Keeping it a mystery is a horrific idea since we would lack insight into Eren's character, why turn into this villain, why mikasa, why Ymir choose mikasa...to list a few off the top of my head. Also, the moment where Armin wants to lighten the load for Eren. People tend to not like when Eren acts like a human? Crying over Mikasa because he can't be with her? Keeping it a mystery would resolve nothing unless ur planning to reveal it in some future episode (which there is none).

TeaDrinker3000

All we need now is Robert with the timestamps for the journey to be complete ❤️

Orr Malus
>>121782399

What? The writer himself tells you that Eren's motives were idiotic. This was a mistake. Isayama rewrote the scene and apologized to Mappa for it. Thus the anime conversation is much improved from the source material but still not fixed. Nonetheless everyone's issues with the ending all stem from that one scene which is barely 1/20th of the serie's so called "finale". All of that insight you're referencing has already been established or hinted at in the previous season finales.

Orr Malus

A small detail that I want everyone to appreciate. The story of the hero Helos who allegedly killed the Founding Titan was based on an actual person. In the flashback where we see Ymir's backstory, after she helped evil King Fritz subjugate the Marleyans, when the soldiers are bowing down to him one of them picks up a spear and throws it at him (because I guess Isayama saw 300). Ymir jumps in front of the spear saving the king but ended up dying. Later on we see King Fritz making his and Ymir's children eat her flesh. After Eren is killed we see Ymir holding her children but now King Fritz is in the background with a spear in his chest. Because nobody forced her kids to eat her flesh the power of the titans also disappeared from history.

Jay

Thank you for reacting to this show I will always remember the memories I got seeing you girls reacting to this show. It was such a wonderful journey. I hold this show as one of my favorite shows of all time, and im glad you girls were able to say the same. The finale isn’t perfect, There were some unanswered questions that were left up to interpretation but that’s not something I have a problem with I will love this show and your reactions forever so thank you for everything. Dedicate your hearts !! PS your finally able to read YouTube comments for aot :D

lasagnaman

About the (pure) titan tranformations: You were moving pillows/blankets and I think missed the dialogue starting at 1:00:06, where they asked if "the gas was similar to what was used in Ragako Village". Levi figured out the implications and thus commanded the shifters/Akermans to evacuate.

lasagnaman

Loved your reactions to this series and I think you were one of the channels that first turned me onto reactions haha, I needed more people to watch/discuss AoT! Thank you for everything <3

Aj

Still don't get the hype, but hey, I'm glad some people like anime this much.

Tsunemori Kiriko

I don't know if you have read Isayama's manga named Attack on School Castes (or Attack on High School AU), which is about Eren Yeager and his friends just being normal American high school students (Mikasa is a gothic girl) and their funny daily life. It was published in each of the main AOT manga's volumes from volume 21 to volume 34. It is just so comforting and wholesome to see all the characters you love live happily in a peaceful alternate timeline. Besides, you can find many interesting little connections between it and AOT's main story.

Sebastian

the levi side story comes out april 30, 2024. its 18 pages and part of artbook/memorabilia package that you can preorder called Shingeki Fly. originally in the last chapter levi, gabi, falco and onyankopon are together traveling but in the volume 35 cover for the new side story we see them rebuilding the post rumbling world. both here https://imgur.io/a/lQlR1tC also wanted to share these 2 manga pages. occasionally isayama draws our characters as normal highschoolers as a silly side story and here eren, armin and mikasa are reacting to the aot ending in a movie theater. i thought it was sweet https://imgur.com/a/untInmW

Yes, I agree this would also be a fun thing to read. There is the AOT Junior High manga/anime, but unlike that this was actually written by Isayama and so it has a unique style of humor to it rather than just a bunch of cliche anime tropes and random aot references all over the place. And like you said, it contains interesting insight, like Eren's character for instance. Plus lots of metacommentary

Aras Paty

Such a long awaited ending but so sad that it finally reach us. Your reaction was everything I was hoping to see and your review has always is amazing, your understanding of the message and the characters the author built over years of hard work is the one of the best.

V

Guys I just find out that the number 140 in Japan means "freedom" and attack on titan has 139 chapters, Isayama is just evil man 😭😭

Arkytior

Amazing journey. Happy to share it with you. New record for longest video on the channel?

Riff Michaels

It's therapeutic to cry along with you, for all these years. What a ride.

Levi in wheelchair with gabi and falco was in the manga, the anime change a little bit of ending and something from eren and armin coversation.

Can’t believe you really gave us a 4 and a half hour review 🙌🏼 absolute queens. Thanks so much for all the enjoyment over the years! Can’t wait to keep watching shows with you!

Jack SV

First, I want to say thank you for reacting to this show. I think I discovered both of you from AoT but I could be wrong. Now that I watched the whole thing, I feel I can put my opinion here. I could tell you why I dislike this ending but the homie Robert already wrote an essay on the full reaction video. He explained why some of us might have an issue with the ending better than I can do tbh lol so shout out to him. Now, In my own personal opinion and this is me assuming some stuff from the author himself plus is just a theory of mine but I feel Isayama had an original ending in mind before the one we got but due to the popularity of this show it became clear he changed that original ending maybe multiple times. For me it boils down to “The message he is trying to conveying with AoT vs The story itself” I feel Isayama didn’t want to send a negative message to his readers hence why he changed the ending. If you think about it, some people started watching this show very young and grew up with AoT. In my opinion I feel he felt pressured to deliver a positive message but at the cost of the writing tbh. And.. can I really blame him? When I was reading the manga back then when it was around season 2 of AoT it was a pretty decent fandom but god… once the basement reveal happened and we learned the truth of the titans I think is at that moment when the fandom became a extreme. The Marley arc didn’t help and by the time Eren revealed his plan and started committing genocide is when the fandom when insane. People were inserting their own politics. To put it bluntly it was a shit show. Now imagine you are Isayama and discovered by accident you created such a toxic fandom to the point where people feel that genocide is a good thing and is justified. Do you feel he really wanted to sent that message? Hell no. Because I will be honest, I was expecting a bleak ending but we didn’t go that..now I only known Isayama from interviews and his work and he seems like pretty good guy, a bit shy but good nonetheless. So this is me assuming a lot of things but I feel at the end, the ending we got was Isayama comprising some stuff in order to fit an anti war message at the end of his manga which in itself is not bad but I feel some of the writing took a nose dive. Overall, I still hold AoT in a special place in my heart and if Isayama does ever make another manga, I will be there. Ok that’s it. My opinion is mostly me assuming stuff. Whether is true or not… only Ymir knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Really appreciate how you both went through the criticisms of the finale and the final arc in general. The online discourse has been horrible since the finale dropped, so can't tell you how nice it is to have people who loved it acknowledge people are entitled to think it was bad. For me personally AOT was up there with HxH, Banana Fish and Vinland Saga as my favourite anime. For the reasons Robert pointed out and a few others, it now isn't, and ngl it sucks having one of my favourite shows soured like it now is for me. But watching you both enjoy it helped bring me some closure on the series, so thank you for investing so heavily in the story and the characters, it's been a joy to watch.

Check out Isayama's recent NYT interview; he explicitly says this is the ending he had in mind from the beginning. He even compares himself to Eren and being "trapped" to carry out the vision he had early on. So no, he didn't change his mind.

I Have No Enemies
>>121786759

It doesn't make sense for Mikasa's path segment to have been a memories thing because she experienced it before Eren died, not after like everyone else. The most logical thing is he brought her into paths there and then. I understand the contradictions you present and I realize what I'm about to say is more my interpretation of things rather than factual information. The "you remember too?" could just be her acknowledging or confirming that he must have talked to Armin in paths too. I don't think it's supposed to be a literal "too" As far as Armin knowing what Eren says to Mikasa, it could just be that he told Armin how he's gonna talk with Mikasa later (because he knows the future). I understand this is somewhat of a reach but I think it makes sense more than Mikasa remembering memories before Eren dying

michelle Meliton
>>121782399

people still dont understand it unless they are explicity said. The information was more spoonfed and less up to the viewers to interupt. That is one of the improvements on the conversation. Whether it is fixed or not is subjective. I personally think it was fixed. You are also saying that the general masses were suppose to figure out that Ymir was actually waiting for Mikasa ? Sure you could go back in the anime after watching the finale and find that out, but that is not the main message that is going to be commincate to the average or even not so average viewer. He can rewrite the scene if he wants. He has made changes from the manga to the anime on multiple occasions. When i read that in the interview i do not believe he was apologizing for that scene. That reasoning to me comes from left field. Every reason i heard for people not liking the conversation between Eren and Armin made negative sense to me. Sure, i can appreciate that people are people and people will interupt things how they want and how they feel towards it is dependent on who they are as a person. For example one of the comments were pertaining to the fact that Eren is not a "Gigachad" in that scene. Which he is not, but people made him out to be and are dissapointed. That scene also brought back the "memory" wiping event that happened in the show. To reuse that was smart becuase it allowed Eren to able to explain himself to all his friends and to have his final farewells for it all to make sense in the end.

michelle Meliton
>>121781123

Re: the worm. In that scene im pretty sure the worm can just literally just go around reiner and go to attach to Eren if he really wanted to. Another option is sending the titans to trample reiner and going past. It was intentional to occupy him and the other shifters. Also, talking on the splitting of the team (referring to the videos chat) "let the shifters handle the big stuff and the Ackerman's handle what they can." I agree that Ymir is letting things play out since it was the path that she created for Eren to carry out. Everything up until the point where Mikasa made her choice.

HenryM

There are a couple of behind the scene videos that made me really admire the monumental amount of work that goes into a production like this, so a review of this length seems appropriate to appreciate it all, even if it means sacrificing a bit of your sanity at the end there 😄 Thanks for all the content you've given us, it's been a fucking joy. I'm gonna miss this show

From what I gathered what really changed was his approach to ending and not the ending itself..unless I’m not interpreting Isayama correctly?

Hello girls, not about AOT, but Arcane S2 got announced for Nov next year.

Robert H.

Sorry guys, my timestamp commentary is just scraping the 3 hour mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba5MNzZPjwk&lc=UgyNv0mzdRPK0bEkIkJ4AaABAg I'll probably finish it tomorrow. But what a discussion, the way they talk about the characters and their moments is just beautiful. I'm actually pretty sure this will be the longest video ever on their channel, unless they release the Lord of the Rings Trilogy Reaction in one video. I'm pushing Lola again to do the Lord of the Rings Reaction because my brother forced me into the trilogy the last Christmas and it was the most boring and unbearable 12 hours of my life and I just want to see it from the other side: Lola, who adores the movies, and Milena, who loses all life energy and practically crashes like an old Windows Vista laptop. Maybe Milena will suddenly have a new perspective on the trilogy during the Rewatch and can love the movies. Then I want to know how! :D

TeaDrinker3000

Nice try Robert, but I'm pushing for the girls to watch Die Hard for the christmas movie reaction 😊🎄🎅

Forget Invincible for March 2024, Avatar the Netflix adaptation is coming at the end of February. Just seen the Trailer on YouTube.

Totally agree on this take. I was super disappointed with the ending when i first read the final chapter, but re-watching the ending now with them made me view it more objectively and appreciate everything the anime gave as a whole. Their discussions are always cool headed and help me enjoy/ process the shows they watch in a healthy way, lol. And oh boyyyy banana fish. So difficult to watch but definitely up there for me too. Can we get them to watch it sometime soon for some great commentary?

Harfie
>>121776128

Isayama is insanely hard on himself. He tackled some pretty complex themes with insanely good writing for 100+ chapters. The ending had a couple lines of dialogue that weren’t the best choices, but in no way negate or take away from the previous chapters of clear thematic discussions on anti-war and racism. Anyway, I agree with tom that it’s better to make a judgment on the show once you’ve seen the whole thing yourself.

Cole

I completely agree with Milena about the worm thing, them turning to titans, and Mikasa killing Eren felt rushed. By the time she kissed Eren I didn’t even know what I had seen and was taken out of it completely. I wish they slowed erens death down and just got rid of some of the parts like the worm. Apart from this I think the episode was very good though.

Robert H.

My time stamp comment is ready. Have fun for the people who still want to hear the discussion. I just had to laugh every time Milena started laughing spontaneously towards the end, because I guess tiredness was hitting harder and harder :D On a more general note, what a great discussion and how much love they show for the characters and the themes Attack on Titan explores. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba5MNzZPjwk&lc=UgyNv0mzdRPK0bEkIkJ4AaABAg Oh, and because Lola was once unsure whether something was manga or fan art: Here's a link from Colored Manga Chapters. Have fun. Especially the scene after Histroia has been changed a bit. That's where the wheelchair scene with Levi, Gabi and Falco that was probably seen on Tik Tok comes from. https://ww8.readsnk.com/chapter/shingeki-no-kyojin-colored-chapter-139/ And of course the extra pages that came about two months later: https://imgur.com/a/To6Mad4 And I just realized... Nobody told them about Attack on Titan School Castes, did they? At the end of each manga volume (4-5 chapters per volume), Isayama has always told a little story, and a variation of that is School Castes. I've just linked the one from Volume 34 / Chapter 139: https://imgur.com/a/UVev10q

"spoonfed" Spoonfeeding your audience regardless of medium is the absolute worse thing you can do. AoT built itself up by doing the exact opposite of spoonfeeding. You correctly identified why the ending is seen as trash by most people. Even though that one spoonfeeding scene is barely 5% of the finale, it ruins it because people are over focused on it. Even the girls, who were very emotionally invested throughout, completely checked out during Eren and Armin's conversation. It's like looking at a masterpiece like the Mona Lisa but with a small bright pink blotch somewhere, you can't help but stare at it. "You are also saying that the general masses were suppose to figure out that Ymir was actually waiting for Mikasa ?" Yes. They foreshadowed this since the beginning of season 4. They mention several times the legend of the hero Helos who defeated the Founding Titan and saving humanity. Then we had the reveal that in Ymir's backstory Helos was the one that attempted to assassinate evil King Fritz which in turn would have led to Ymir's freedom. Then there's all the parallels between evil King Fritz and Eren... the pieces of the puzzle are all there is my point. The conversation added nothing and just seemed like talking down to those who did put the piece together already which unfortunately is the majority of viewers. People don't hate the ending because they were shocked by it, they hate it because it was too predictable. Removing that scene would have had zero effect on the story and greatly improved the audience reaction.

You consistently have the worst takes possible. At this point, you're just looking for attention.

Orr Malus
>>121782797

The Ackermans having superpowers was something added later. It's a good retcon because it solves a lot of issues. For instance in the manga Miche was at the same level with Levi which raises the question: if regular humans can become that strong, why are titans even a problem? In the anime they made Miche weaker as well as making that spinning super-speed move Levi does something only specific to his character.

Orr Malus
>>121782399

So in your mind spoonfeeding your audience is the ideal way to tell the perfect story? Make your case, lol.

Orr Malus
>>121807773

Full paragraph: "That was pretty much there from the beginning, the story that starts with the victim who then goes through this story and becomes the aggressor. That is something I had in mind right from the get-go. Along the way, certain aspects of the story didn’t go as expected, and I adapted and fleshed out certain aspects. But I would say the ending of the story didn’t change much" So not the EXACT ending he originally had in mind but the same idea of the oppressed becoming the oppressor. Do you remember that time when Isayama had his Twitter revoked by his editors? 🤣 After the first season there was a meme going around of Eren Yeager being Adolf Hitler. Funny, but nobody took it seriously. Then the season 2 finale came out and everyone freaked out. Then they started digging into the author's Twitter account. More worrisome aspects came to light. When confronted by them he doubled down and pretty much confirmed that yes, Eren Yeager is basically isekai'd Adolf Hitler. The fans that quit the series because of this aspect were replaced by fans that started the series because of this aspect which explains why the fandom always gets political. AoT is even banned in China for a similar reason. But no matter where you fall on the spectrum, knowing a little history would guarantee knowing how the series will end which is why the editors intervened and stopped Isayama from spoiling his own story.

Wanda Did Nothing Wrong

I honestly didn’t care what happened to most of humanity so long as my Warrior babies and varied paradis people survived lol

As someone who read the manga, even I cried like a baby in the ending... It's just worse seeing it in action, hearing the music, hearing everyone emotional voices... Damn I am still recovering. Tiktok editors are not helping 😭🤚🏻

MinaOrano

My 50 cents about AOT: As someone who has graduated in psychology twice, it is fun to psychoanalyze characters like Eren Yeager. He is really my favourite character, alongside Armin. Mikasa comes really close too, as she’s far more complex and human than most give her credit for. Back to Eren, I think what many fans fail to mention or remember when they talk about Eren is that although he is inherently – and by his nature – the way that he is, he is also a product of his environment at the end of the day. It is nature vs nurture, and in Eren’s case and especially after season 4’s events, one can easily think that ‘nature’ wins here. However, by the end of the day, everyone perceives his or her environment and circumstances differently. Although Armin and Mikasa had a similar childhood like him, because of Eren’s disposition and nature, he perceived his life differently to them. Essentially, although the makeup of people are the same, every single human being is unique. It is honestly so sad in my opinion, because although he committed all these atrocities, it was in his nature to perceive the events that took place in his life so negatively. His actions were his choices, but I still believe that Eren has manifested MULTIPLE mental ills. I cannot officially say which ones as it’s super complicated, but Eren – in my opinion – has become insane. I mean, yes everyone else suffered too, but an extreme amount of pressure has been placed on Eren since the very beginning of the show, where the people of Paradis and the scouts expected Eren to be the power that defeated all titans. I don’t think many people realise how this must have broken him so much when he constantly failed anyways, and in the end, had zero options about how to save his friends and his people. If you remember in season 1, Eren always viewed the world in a black and white lens. It was like he saw Paradis and his people as the ‘good guys’, while the titans were the ‘bad guys’. I think in many ways he was very blind to the complexities of reality at the time, but we saw him grow and this mentality change as the episodes went by. But… I think that to some extent this very binary way of thinking really stuck with Eren. This and his very simple view of freedom that has been ingrained into his mind since a very young age created a combination that just made him so blind to everything. But the thing is... He is fully aware of how complex their reality really is, and he knows that what he is doing is evil and wrong, but it is like he just can’t rid of those simple ideas that he has in his mind about the world. It is presented, in my opinion, so well in the show. Because it is like Eren has gone insane, but at the same time, he is fully sane and know that he is being a freaking idiot and that his choices will not truly save anyone. This is where his selfishness comes in too. I can honestly talk about Eren forever (and Armin, Mikasa, Levi, Reiner, Jean, Connie and the rest of my loves). Lola was right when she said that even after 3+ hours of discussing, much more can be said. Not to sound dramatic, but I just think that AOT can be analyzed from multiple academic perspectives. History, cultural geography, sociology, psychology, film and media, fiction and storytelling, etc. There is just so many things to talk about and so many characters to talk about too. It is my #1 show, and I have to say that I prefer it to Breaking Bad. It is meaningful, impactful, but it also incorporates all of my favorite genres. Anyways, I think that my comment is far too long already. It is 740 words haha. One more thing, thank you so much to Lola & Milena for enjoying this journey with us. I have listened to every second of your review from the very first episode and I agreed with everything you said. You two are so kind, so intelligent, and just amazing human beings. I can tell just based on your perspective of things. I wish we could meet in real life and have a conversation haha, but I am on the opposite side of the world. Have a good one, and I am super excited for more Violet Evergarden reactions. I'm especially looking forward to your reaction to episode 8 & 10, and the concluding 1hr+ movie xxx

MinaOrano
>>121825035

It's so funny to me how one can overlook 100+ episodes of a masterpiece just because you disliked the finale episode. Like how does that even work? In my opinion, for people like this, it was never one of your favourite shows to begin with because what...

MinaOrano
>>121792961

hahaha fr, like it's contradictory in itself. You don't like it, but you're glad that people like it? Make it make sense, because it doesn't😂

MinaOrano
>>121778564

Hard core Yeagerists who viewed Eren as some heartless and cold giga chad were appalled that he could actually cry. Like bro... have we been watching the same show? It was more realistic for him to cry then to just leave forever without crying. Tf... Also, this man or boy is literally 19 years old. Can you imagine...? I know they grew up quicker than normal people but still. That's a lot of weight, responsibility and power that was forced onto him at such a young age.

MinaOrano

One final thing (I'm so sorry, I am speaking too much atp), it saddens me how so many 'fans' hate the show now because of the ending. Criticism and dislike towards whatever occurred is reasonable and completely fair, but to just undermine the whole show now because of a final 30 minutes you didn't enjoy is just so insane to me. I know those final 30 minutes were super important as it rounded up the show, but still. And I do agree that such an important part (where Mikasa had to kill Eren) was rushed. It honestly had to be given more time, but to me it still doesn't take away the overall impact of the show.

It wasn't just the finale, it was the rumbling arc in general being worse than the rest, followed by a finale that I feel retroactively destroys multiple characters and plot points. It's like asking how I can dislike GoT when the first 4 seasons were so good, AoT was absolutely in my top 3 anime before the fumbling.

Very interesting comment! And you're not alone with the Violet Evergarden Reaction. I'm very curious to see how they got through the cliffhanger in episode 7. 😌

My Toasty Toast

Did they actually ever end up talking about Eren being the one to direct Dina towards his mother? I can’t remember hearing their thoughts on that, I went through the reaction again with the help of Robert’s time-stamps but I couldn’t find them talking about it

AlexTheHammer

To LOLA AND MILE I’m really surprised people said they were afraid you guys wouldn’t like the finale, watching your videos and listening to your guys’s discussion and theories I was completely confident both of you guys would love the ending, and you guys predicted the entire plot of the finale in the pre reaction discussion lol. I’m still surprised how intelligent you guys are with aot it actually baffles me how you guys predicted bertholdt and Reiner being titans as early as like episode 10 or something and genuinely picking up on so many things I missed. Watching your guys’s discussion definitely helped me understand the show and characters deeper and I love you guys because my interpretations and feelings on the show and characters and themes really are 100% in line with yours, and when you guys talked about how you guys really believe your idea of the show is the correct one it felt validating for me too. Watching this reaction video was almost anticipated as the finale itself for me lmao. I’m glad you guys really understand and embody the heart of the show in your reactions, like many people hate gabi but love eren and it’s like you guys said like did you guys watch the show?? You guys truly understand the characters and themes and watching your reaction series for aot has been a way to enjoy the show in a different way, so thank you guys

TeaDrinker3000

Imagine if 5 years from now they do a re-watch reaction series. I think the show would deserve it. And being able to see each season sequentially would be a total blast in its own right, with no waiting for a new release. I think they would want to do it, but like, years from now 😅

In the final scene where mikasa was sitting under that tree, I song played in the back, for some reason in the english sub version they didn't add the translation, I watched it on spanish and they were included, either way, I think you should react to that song with the lyrics, it's a song where the voice actors of mikasa and eren took part, it's called to you in 2000 or 20000 years by Linked Horizon youtube.com/watch?v=zCefVNFwzUQ

Msmcc

I'm a new fan of AOT, and you girls are one of the reasons I got even more hooked on it. Watching it while relating to your reactions was so enjoyable, and no matter how many times I watch it, I never get tired of it. And I was very curious about Ymir, the origin of it all. Ymir watches Mikasa (the cause of Mikasa's headaches) and ultimately finds peace through Mikasa. This signifies that Ymir, through Mikasa, came to understand true love that she had been longing for over 2,000 years. Ymir loved the king so much that she was willing to take a spear in his place and was obedient and devoted to him, even though the king committed many wrongdoings. Meanwhile, Mikasa recalls her memories with Eren in the Coordinate (Ackerman's power) and realizes that she cannot escape reality to live with him. She also understands that Eren truly loved her and wanted her to free herself from him and be truly liberated. As Reiner mentioned, Eren sought true rest through his death, which is why he urged those opposing the Rumbling to fight him and did not stop the Eldians from using their powers. In the end, Mikasa, out of love for Eren, beheads him and kisses him. This means that true love is not about blind devotion and obedience but sometimes means stopping the person you love. It’s not a denial of love but an expression of it. This realization helps Ymir come to terms with her regrets and lingering feelings from the past, allowing her to finally find peace. One of the reasons I became so immersed in AOT is that even after its conclusion, new interpretations continue to emerge, and it can be discussed from various perspectives. In that sense, I really enjoyed your long videos as well. Thank you!

Adel Bouzazia

It's extremely late but I figured it would you would want to know for the final scene of Attack on titan : "When Ymir found the tree that she fell in, she was being hunted, chased by dogs and in need of an undying body and a world free from death, which she created when she touched the "origin of all life". "However, with the final scene, we see an innocent child, accompanied by a companion in the form of a dog, approaching the hole in the tree where Eren's head was buried. The scene all around feels a lot more optimistic but is intentionally ambiguous. Does he also need an undying body, or something else? I like to think that he enters that tree with no malicious intent or peril, but instead curiosity and hope. " So I don't think that you could ever say that there was absolutely no point to it, changing so ever slightly the cycle is meaningfull and it's a grim but hopeful ending as it should be. The ending was truly great
