happy new year!! we were overly confident about editing around new year so things are gonna be a bit hectic, ill post the edited tomorrow and lola will post hh tomorrow as well, and for the week’s schedule we’ll let you know because this week is christmas for us (on the 7th)and i might be going to visit family for a few days to celebrate with them so we dont know how much we’ll have time to film.. Thats it, sorry for the delays and again happy new year and happy holidays

Like I said, saving most of my comments for the edited, but I’ll say this: I love how much this show makes it clear that each member of the crew is needed for the ship to function properly. We see all of them working, and it makes a difference. We see how hands on Flint is as well: he is out there working with everyone else in the spray of the sea, and he’s clearly very experienced to know exactly how the wheel must be turned to get them to the right speed. Quite a contrast to Captain Bryson sitting in his cabin unconcerned.

I mention this in some of my other pre-written comments that I’ll post for the reaction, but the opening convo between Billy and Flint is really interesting. And I like how we start with Flint talking to Billy about the ways a leader sometimes must lie in order to get those they are leading to do what they have to. And Billy does that exact thing with Dufresne before they board the ship: he lies to Dufresne for the sake of his comfort. And Dufresne admits later that it helped him. Really interesting stuff.

I think Maxs story arc is pretty perfect. People saying it’s just there to make the show like GOT, and I couldn’t disagree more. All of her scenes serve a purpose. And not just for her character either.

Max is one of my favorite characters and I love her arc, but I think criticism of this story choice is totally fair. And that similar results could have occurred with other writing choices.

Wanda Did Nothing Wrong

I love that Milena is saying she would follow Flint at the start. I’m a Flint ride or die, so I support. Going to be interesting to see if she stays feeling that way. Also, Billy is as much, if not more, to blame for the problems last episode. He should have made sure his men were listening to his orders to tie to the right trees, and not ignoring him to go the fuck tent. Flint IS that good of a sailor. It’s been said by many people at this point that Flint is the best Captain. This is part of the reason why. His battle tactics are risky, but he is in no way relying on luck. He really is just that good. And he trusts his men to be good at their job too.
