As a trans person, John's words are so validating. These are words I will strive to live by. To choose hope and to be solely my own, not to change who I am for someone else's image of who I should be. I think I'll come back to this chapter many times- to watch John's growth into realizing who he *wants* to be- so I can be reminded of who *I* want to be. Needless to say, thank you, Harlan. I'm sure I'm not the only one who needed to hear those words.

Yeah of course! It was Arthur’s gun. He manipulated the Witch into thinking it was the “Object of Leng” (which she believed bc she’s never seen a gun before) and she promptly shot herself in the face when John told her to “squeeze” [the trigger]
