Hey everyone in the Malevolent Patreon!

We tried a scheduled drop two weeks ago (Tuesday night) and last week a RANDOM drop!

While we may still do both depending on what WE want, which did YOU prefer?

Honestly, either one is fine with me. I love the random surprise of. Oh yes, there's something for me to listen to that I absolutely love. But I also like when it's oh this day is coming up. That's going to be this drop or that drop. So either one is fine with me. Whatever one is easier for you guys.

I'd say whatever works best for you. Even with scheduled drops they tend to happen when I'm working so I can't partake in the live portion anyway. No skin off my back either way!

I'm happy with either one, both have their perks, but I really like the fun of the live drop, everyone being stressed together at the same time lol

They're both fine for me, I prefer scheduled a bit more but you could do both to truly keep us on our toes

the live drops are a little frustrating for me because if I don’t join right on time, I have to wait until the episode is over before I can listen. I don’t mind scheduling drops, I just wish they weren’t live.

Scheduled is obviously nicer for everybody but I've been part of the patreon for about 8 hours, just come over from listening monthly on Spotify, So waiting the odd day or two is no problem, You do you, just keep up the AMAZING work!!!!

Yeah same. My internet is very crud, so its not really possible for me to participate in live drops. The audio always skips and cuts out.

Either is fine for me, but I likely will never listen live (just doesn't appeal to me). I will say though, there is a certain giddy joy at just suddenly seeing the notification that it's available!

There’s an official release time either way, it’s more about the technical difference, I think (and random drops could be before the “official” time

I do dig the live drops, but like Queen said, the system is a little finicky and if you aren't there right on time (or have technical issues) then you have to wait until the episode is over before you can listen to it yourself.

For those not familiar / clear on the differencec there’s a bit more to it than just having more confidence in exactly when it will be available. Even “Random” drops have an official “released by” time. The Scheduled Drop creates the post with a countdown and when the scheduled time hits it live streams through the post. Playing it during the initial stream jumps you to the point it’s at, rather than playing from the beginning. After the initial drop playthrough the audio is available to listen at your convenience / out of sync as normal. However, if you have the RSS link to your podcast app of choice, the chapter becomes available at the Scheduled Drop time and plays from the beginning whenever you start it regardless of what the Patreon post is doing.

So: if you listen through Patreon instead of an app, how much does it matter to you that if you would be a couple minutes late you’ll miss the first few minutes / have to wait until the ep has played through once before you can start it from the beginning

Rule of cool. What's more fun one week? there's my answer. So I vote random here. There is no wrong way to have a malevolent episode. Whatever suits best.

The schedule drops weirdly stress me out? Like, putting the bois on a counter feels ominous to me. (I understand that's not what's happening but it's what it feels like). Obviously, do what you like. Clearly, stress doesn't deter my enjoyment of this story. The clock just adds to it (for me).

I genuinely enjoy getting jumpscared by the notification, I like seeing jo post That One Meme in the discord, I think it's nice that when Harlan finishes an episode he can either slap it down on the table immediately Or wait until a scheduled release time without being bound by the rules of The Countdown. It also bums me out that for every scheduled release I've been at least a couple minutes late so instead of listening on my own, I have to wait until the live playthrough is over before I'm allowed to start listening (I also often rewind bits or pause to answer a phone call or something when I listen at work and the schedule live drops would never let me do that)

Scheduled drops are a little weird on Patreon, plus the drop time won't work for me in a couple of months, so I'd rather be surprised.

Either one. I just began playing about 3 months ago and started at the beginning. I've been playing "catch-up", and I'm "only" about 3 weeks behind now, so I can't even imagine playing an episode when other folks start. :)

Love the near 50/50 split on this lol. I'm pro random drop as my schedule is tight so I often can't listen at the times the scheduled drops tend to happen. And I too enjoy the thrill of a notification.
