malevolent chapter on my birthday yippee yippee !!!!!

Cas

New malevolent chapter yippee!!!

swan_song

With the ear gone (and the conversation last episode) I have to wonder if Malam is some variation of Arthur. I wonder how he’ll (we’ll?) answer the question. Excellent chapter!

SoapCarver

Stranger: "Thank you for being so welcoming. Now, lets talk about your worst trauma." Oh god, we've invited a therapist.

SeerOfTime

This was so good. I am so intrigued.

Michaela

John had his therapy session and now it’s time for Arthur’s I suppose 😭

Aster

ARTHUR 2 !!!!

sillygoosehonkhonk

This guy is so a reaper. Is I'm wrong i never said this

Sophie

Setting the vote aside, I think Arthur answering the question is psychologically interesting but I also kind of want John to immediately interrupt him and answer the question for him with an emphatic "NO" like the good friend he is

Courtney Wathne

I am so torn! It feels like a trick question too! Do we choose character growth or not?

photosnipa

I meeeean. One could argue Arthur did die 😬 😬😬😬

Rachel

I feel like “it depends” is the only valid answer here.

Mooooookar

Ooo. While I don’t agree with it morally, I think saying “Yes” would push the story in a *really* interesting direction that saying “No” wouldn’t accomplish. Arthur needs to get worse before he gets better etc etc etc

Tooby

AHHHH this one my god

Oliver

I voted to deny him but nope! Now we have to deal with more psychological torture 😭 stop dodging questions malam!!!

are you garlic bread

It's too vague a question. Punishment? sure. Death? ...maybe that's too far, maybe not.

Sofia Camacho

I'm sorry, is that you Kane?????

are you garlic bread

My first instinct is that it's Darkther trying to pick off competition. Or simply judging if the Arthurs are 'worthy'. Oooor just killing them all and trying to stop Kane

BeastlyDeath

Well that's what we call a loaded question my dear creepy camper 😬

Amy

…is maybe an option for the poll???

Sunny Hawke

Neither Arthur or John questioning this mans accent? no? im sure its fine

Kass

yet another chapter that makes me scream “WHAT???” in my car 😭 so good

Janus

You could say Arthur killed his child through neglect. Does he deserve to die?

Laura A Moore

OHHHHHH we could be So angsty about this >:D

Heather Bruce

I opened the file, saw it was 7 minites and the 30 comments. ... and it's warrented. Wow. Wow wow wow. Ahem. Well. Deserve to? Yes. But people don't always get what they deserve. Grace, mercy, etc. Thanks for the complex, Mr. Guthrie.

Marknado

Never thought answering said question would be so hard

Ooooooh so many things to chew on for this episode!!! OK so a few things jumped out at me, first things first: wtf BJ???? What do you mean embrace the darkness??? Was this your way of telling us that we should pick the darker answer? I.e. that yes a man who kills a child should die, or is this you telling us that we should never had lit the fire in the first place, based on what Malam said I am more inclined to go with the later. Second thing, I think that Malam is a John with his own body, or at least a fusion of Arthur and what human!John could look like. He sounds very similar to John and the details of the two colored eyes (which I bet one of them is either amber or gold and the other is Arthurs og eye color), the similar facial scars to Arthur, and an injury relating to one of his hands (it being missing nails instead of a missing pinky) lead me to this. Another thing that makes me think that this could be an alternate John is the fact that he was surprised by Arthur's invitation. If I remember right Kayne said that there have been timeliness where they successfully separate, but that they usually have a terrible relationship by then, so him being surprised by the invitation fits well I think. And finally my last piece of evidence to this being an alternate John is the question. Like that was a heavy fucking question to ask Arthur (especially after the clusterfuck with Larson and the cult), one that I feel he did on purpose to rattle Arthur enough from his line of questioning and maybe get a feel of where he is it at right now. I think Arthur's answer might determine whether or not he will help Arthur or not.

Ghozteevee

I have some thoughts on the question itself, like some of the other commenter's mentioned, I think this is now the time for Arthur to grow as a character, I mean we just came out of John having this massive introspection on who he is as a person, and I feel like we have been building up to this question in bits and pieces through out the show. Because it is a valid question, but I feel like we need to pay attention to the wording, because he didn't say 'A man kills *their* child', no, he said 'A man kills *a* child; does he deserve to die?' And I think that wording was deliberate. I feel like most of us (myself included) are going to hear this question and related it to Arthur and Larson, both men who killed a child, their child, but the difference is that one was killed by accident, through negligence, and the other was outright murdered. But this question was brought up in response to Arthur asking what had happened at the village, after Malam had mentioned that Arthur inviting him to sit was something no one at the village would have done, that the person that Malam came to see not to long ago would have done. I feel like this question is to both help Malam judge Arthur as a character, but also judge his own actions in relation to what happened at the village before Arthur arrived. Because, I think Malam is the reason why it's abandoned.

Amy

I strongly suspect Malam is new to this body. John’s said multiple times that he’s looking at his hands as if he’s never seen them before. I’m wondering if the injuries are a product of Malam getting the body in the first place. (He may have some kind of accelerated healing factor)?
