Oh nooooooo

Michaela

HEY…..now…..im so nervous what the heck

xil

what!!!!

howl

oh hell nah.....

sendts

bj i think you made a minor spelling mistake here

Cas

Ah! What a refreshingly simple choice

Oakland

HEY WHAT

SoapCarver

Excuse me BJ, sir. You've seemed to have fallen asleep on your keyboard.

SeerOfTime

It's puzzle time, bois!

Rook

Seventy-eight thirty nine Seventeen seven nine

Sam

Again I say, EXCUSE ME?

MomoTheMoogle

I came up with the same thing. Unsure if it actually means anything, or if it's a wild goose chase, as I haven't found anything noteworthy about the numbers yet. Edit: Although, to be fair, I am not good at puzzles like this 😂

Rachel

Puzzle solvers, now’s your time! Everyone else should wait a bit to vote, probably.

Charlie

I beg your pardon

Wyrm

Oh this is dandy. I'm so for this. There being a poll at all makes me wonder if the choices will still matter, even though we don't know what we're choosing. No matter what I figure Arthur's following those wisps

Rook

Checked the #s based on psalms and "Stopping be Woods on a Snowy evening" by Robert frost and neither seems like a good fit

Janus

50/50 time boys /j

Rook

Also discussion in the discord is happening if you want to check it out

Fisher

If you are in the Discord server please join us in cracking this code, we have a thread for it!

gaylienz

:( im scared

Amy Waller

More letter = good????

Nicky

The choices will 100% still matter, we just may not find out how until later

Waffle 427

I don’t know what any of this means so I’m flipping a coin at this point, whatever I choose it’ll either be a bout of horror or a bout of wholesomeness.

Aebriel

We have a thread in the discord channels where people are trying to decode the poll!

Flamia

Yep I understood that perfectly

Brie

OH SHIT ZALGO 😨 I'm going op #2 for the time being My reasoning: With the way things are usually worded in these polls, I think it would be something like -Follow the lights -Stay put The option that requires an action often has more words, the inactive option has less

Fisher

genuinely don’t think we have a choice to NOT follow the lights here. Arthur’s already up about to do it. currently we’ve uncovered that the text for both options translates to numbers that people in the discord are currently trying to figure out the meaning of!

Liz

So far the Discord server has determined that this is encoded in rot13 (once you remove the zalgo text) This translates to "seventy-eight thirty nine seventeen seven nine"

Rook

Unfortunately both options have 3 words, or rather 3 numbers spelled out. 78 30 9 and 17 7 9. Current thought is that they correlate to words or lines from a book or song. Just can't figure out which one.

Liz

Although I do not know if this particular solution is the true solution, and I encourage further interrogation of the cipher and alternative solutions being put forward, I do think that this is the most coherent solution we currently have. For those people who are not following the chatter in the cipher-breaking thread. So far we've determined that the raw text of the poll is ciphered in rot13. If you'd like to check this for yourself, the text is "Friragl-rvtug guvegl avar Friragrra frira avar" Copy and past this into any rot13 translator (I always recommend https://rot13.com/) and you get: "Seventy-eight thirty nine Seventeen seven nine" This is where the consensus on the solution begins to break down. 78 30 9 17 7 9 These numbers do not obviously translate to anything in particular, and likely reference something. They could be a variation of "book code" and use a source text to indicate words or letters. My preferred solution is that it references previous chapters and their votes. Chapter 78: Head Left Where The Lantern Suggests [2] / Head Straight Where The Creature Suggests [11] Chapter 30: No vote Chapter 9: Help Whomever You Can (Follow the Tracks) [8] / Move Towards Your Own Goals (Continue to Harper's Hill) [1] Chapter 17: RUN [1] / STAY [7] Chapter 7: Head to the Police Station [3] / Head to the Cummings Residence [5] Chapter 9: Help Whomever You Can (Follow the Tracks) [8] / Move Towards Your Own Goals (Continue to Harper's Hill) [1] This seems to not go anywhere useful, but I think the vote position is also significant. If we only consider the vote options that are in the same position (listed first or listed second) as the the current option that is referencing it. We get: Numbers in the first listened option: 78, 30, 9 Chapter 78: Head Where The Lantern Suggests Chapter 30: No vote Chapter 9: Help Whomever You Can (Follow the Tracks) Numbers in the second listed option: 17, 7, 9 Chapter 17: STAY Chapter 7: Head to the Cummings Residence Chapter 9: Move Towards Your Own Goals (Continue to Harper's Hill) The outlier is Chapter 30, which does not have a vote. However Chapter 29 would have been "Follow the Map", which would be in line with a pattern that I see emerging. Now, this is where things become lightly interpretive. The first listed option 78, 30, 9 (especially if Harlan meant to reference 29 instead of 30), all are vote options that indicate "following", and that seems to be a fairly self-evident solution. Therefore, Option 1 seems to be suggesting that we have Arthur follow the lights, possibly with little caution, trusting that they will lead us where we need to go. The second listed option 17, 7, 9 has a less immediately discernible pattern. But here's how I interpret each option for each part as they relate to 226: "STAY" is the easiest, likely indicating an intention to remain in the village rather than heading off into the woods "Head to the Cummings Residence". In its original context this meant going to Roland's former house. Here we might interpret it as Arthur deciding to try to hide from the lights in one of the village's houses, or at least something to do with houses. "Move Towards Your Own Goals (Continue to Harper's Hill)". Again, in its original context, this meant that we would have not allowed ourselves to be distracted by a car at the side of the road and a "side-quest". I think we can interpret this in much the same way, and that this might indicate Arthur not becoming distracted by the will o'wisps and following them into a "side-quest" away from the main "Blackstone quest".

Marknado

Take us now mother darkness

Marknado

Guys it’s ok maybe we’re still their faaaaavvorite

Laura A Moore

I have read the lore deciphering and have decided to choose based on mouthfeel. Option 2 looks so deliciously crunchy, so I choose that one!

Heather Bruce

Y'all sorted all this information so quickly. I am so impressed. Scared to freaking death still, but impressed nonetheless. Well, done. 💛🖤

Heather Bruce

I do not like the votes being so close. 😨 Let's please please please not tie. (So much for sleeping this week)

Bird

I think youre right tbh. Arthur seems almost supernaturally pulled at this point. Which probably doesnt bode well for us. But I am fascinated by

Audrey R

Oh no those lights definitely seem like fae to me

Marknado

If we get a tie will Arthur simply do nothing like in the light house? Would doing nothing be smarter here?

Courtney Wathne

I put the book code in the robert frost poem and got the word 'Gideon' any thoughts?

Heather Bruce

Side note - is anyone else have an exestential crises that someone or something f@cked with Booth!John? Or at least his ability to communicate with us? Like, he didn't act like he could tell there was a problem (though there is a non-zero possibility that he wouldn't care). Something ATTACKED the fourth wall and I don't appreciate it!

Patchrat

Edit: listening to the end again it sounds like Arthur has already decided to follow, and the choice is presented entirely by the narration after the episode ends (im shaking in my boots) so we truly have no idea what it's between and I doubt that means a tie vote will get him to stay put. I sort of still like the tie idea though until an interpretation of these seems more clear, per my healthy fear of the unknown.

BeastlyDeath

AAA WE GOT WISPS BOIS WHICH MEANS PROBABLY NO GOOD FAIRIES ARE WITH THEM I am not equipped to deal with the fae idk what to do here 😭

Marknado

I’m shaking in my boots as well! Harlan also just posted on the discord that the poll IS solvable but isn’t necessary to solve ahhhhhhhh

Nicky

Arthur and John agreed to follow. BJ says something about choosing to follow… or … cautiously, so make of that what you will

Marknado

Yes I guess he was already in the process of moving towards the lights so this decision just has to be about whatever is right after that. I am choosing to believe in the cypher for now. These polls keep getting more and more stressful!

Fisher

this has happened before! BJ was once muffled by the King in season 2, and Scratch took over for announcing the votes during episode 31! it’s wild

Heather Bruce

Oh, so there's at least precidence. Idk if that makes me feel better or worse. Excuse me while I check out those early chapters... 🙃

Anusia Battersby

OK, I have a full but very obscure theory, following on from the numbers work we've been doing. I think this might centre around the idea of reality vs dreaming. And I don't think it's about the exact number of each chapter, or line, or word. I think it's about what immediately comes after. BJ Static 1 (do you choose to ...): The first choice we make immediately following Chapter 78 is to follow a dancing light. That fills the first gap. BJ Static 2 (or do you choose ...): The first choice we make immediately following 17 is to stay. That fills the second gap. Now we go into lines. BJ Static 3 (Cautious ...): The first line immediately after line 30 of 78 is "The ordered intermingling of the real and of the dream…" This is easily something Boothy could be warning us against in this context. The distortion then continues. If another counter-point features here, then the first line immediately after line 7 of 17 could easily fit: "We do not get to see what could have been." Finally, we dig into words. Boothy talks about the answer being obfuscated by the haze of ... Now we have our first word after the 9th of our already-chosen sentence: dream. That fits. Further distortion, and our final word could easily be that following the 9th of our second already-chosen sentence: been. Aka, what has happened, as opposed to what Arthur is dreaming of. So overall we have our two arguments, built around the chapter choice, then line, and finally word immediately following the numbers given. 1) Follow the light. It shows the ordered intermingling of the real and the dream, and the dream is what is important. 2) Stay. You don't get to know what might have been, but you are at least in the reality of what has been. So, yeah. There's my bonkers theory.

Jess

I think that this is the second time that an element from the Malevolent story setting was able to overwrite Booth John and influence the poll. I didn't start listening until well after the Vanguard-head-acquisition situation, but it certainly seemed like that from Booth John's comments. I'm not sure what, if anything, that means, but I'm curious to find out.

Harriet B

Regardless of which option you choose, I think your analysis of longer vs shorter choices is an elegant solution for those of us who don't wish to get into solving complex codes. Thank you. :)

Anusia Battersby

If you look at some of the other comments you might see that we decoded this one using a rot13, and have been working on book ciphers and the like. There's been a lot of theorising in the Discord and on here, so I'm just posting a theory based on that, as everyone has a right to. I don't think there's any need for such a rude comment in any case, but I hope some context helps. Liz's comment should also be a big help here! 😊

Generic Waffle

Okay, see, I like this, bc I thought about this too. What if it's not the EXACT thing, but the *~vibes~*?
