Ark

She said the thing!

Quinn

Lilith when I catch you Lilith—

Quinn

I love that even Mother Darkness herself is caught up in the bullshit of outer gods 😂

Michaela

i feel INSANE right now after listening to this !!!!

emil

OMG??

Quinn

Okayyyy so while it seems like a safe bet to just hand her the talisman back — what if we make a deal instead? Booth John said: “This moment may way heavily in the future.” Their journey ahead has a lottttt of creatures and challenges that are sure to result in injury and/or death of everyone in their party. Healing themselves and/or their party members ensures a longer, more successful journey with the hope of getting the Blackstone for Kayne. And if making a deal isn’t an option, we can still keep it, since Mother Darkness can’t/won’t kill us right now. She wants us to continue — and if she already plans to kill us, then we have every reason to keep the talisman for now. ((Potential downsides: she might take something away, give them a time limit, or impair them in some way — i.e. injure Arthur or John)) Either way, I vote we hold onto that medallion for dear life!

Bean Fiend

AHHHHHHH This is what I was hoping for! So glad we yapped to her.

Quinn

Side note: I really like that an entity was after John specifically this time. Arthur is so used to things wanting to kill him — whether they know he’s carrying John or not — that it was a refreshing surprise lol

SeerOfTime

Harlan, this is truly one of the most satisfying chapters when it comes to sheer Lore Drops. What an absolute joy to listen to! Thank you so much for this incredible story.

Chimera Mercy

Such an excellent chapter! I've been hoping to hear more about Lilith for ages and she's being set as quite a terrifying character. It's very ominous and foreboding in a way that makes me excited to see her true debut

Inumaki Bakugo

Great episode as always, so much great lore 🥺

Chimera Mercy

Also I think this is such a nerve-wracking choice, I'm looking forward to seeing where people side. On one hand, I fear what Mother Darkness will do if we refuse. I think there will be a very real consequence to that and her wrath is not to be ignored nor taken lightly. On the other hand, the talisman seems vital. While Alia can heal and has magical capabilities, she couldn't cure Arthur entirely and I'm not sure if she would be able to heal herself if harmed. I think it's more likely that the talisman would be utilized for someone other than Arthur; it has been stressed multiple times that each member is essential by Evrard and Alia in particular is described as vital to the success of their mission. It seems like this is a decision that will have dire consequences later down the line; I could see this possibly swaying the ending if something goes horribly wrong but I might just be antsy about the upcoming season.

blacklightRIOT

if mother darkness wants to kill our ass later on she can meet me at the finish line but im putting this necklace on and backwards walking out of here with both middle fingers up. YOU BETTER COME CORRECT DARTH GRANDMA

Luna_de_maria

this was SO FUCKING COOL. Thank you for this amazing chapter. The folklore horror is going so strong

Chimera Mercy

LOL LOWKEY IM LEANING THAT WAY LIKE SHE ALREADY CURSED ARTHUR AND CAN'T KILL JOHN. unless she can make it to where they can't talk to each other wait now I'm scared again

Braxton Cain

Now I’m wondering is she going to be satisfied with killing Arthur? Or will she try and kill John. Is there even a way to kill John? We have only seen one god die and it really wasn’t even really a death she was erased can entities like the king in yellow die?

Braxton Cain

I also wouldn’t give the talisman back she’s gonna try and kill them anyway might as well keep it since it’s helpful

Layali

I’m really touched to see the way Mother Darkness talks about her daughter, and that she’s stalked us all this way to avenge the discarded girl she lifted from the mud. In a way I’m glad to see proof of her love for the witch, since the witch for me was an impactful and melancholic character. I’m glad it wasn’t another case of misguided, cultish, unrequited love. (Even the way MD’s angry at John specifically fits for me, not just for the murder but also for the way her daughter really revealed her heart to John and tried to reach out to him, in her own way, and was met with her own murder).

Layali

As much as I want to keep the talisman, here’s what makes me think I’ll vote to give it away instead: - MD says: As much as I ‘want to kill you’ I have more hatred of those who make demands of me (Lilith). -> establishes she might hate Lilith more than John, and you know the drill - ‘the enemy of my enemy…’ - Then the chapter ends with MD saying: Lilith will have the world end. - John suddenly notes: She says that last part with a curious expression, as if unsure of how to - - MD interrupts! (Something to note?) Then says give me the talisman. All this to say I feel MD could remain a part of the story as more than just the promise of a future revenge against Arthur - she might be a part of a future confrontation with Lilith. Since she seems unsure yet on her opinion on Lilith’s end goal, I want to influence it as much as I can, and the choice we have now might be that influence one way or another. Not just through giving away the talisman itself, but also that in giving it away we might be able to say a few words to her after the fact, while if we refuse to give it the words will be ‘I’m gonna fucking kill you’, and the whole convo will be derailed, nothing we say will be well received.

Layali

God Mother Darkness’ whole ‘make no mistake…’ monologue was SOOO GOOD ♥️♥️

As useful as the talisman is, I say give it back, for a few reasons. First, there’s the fact that BJ mentioned how foolish it was to seek out the talisman in the first place. He directly states that it’s what led to Arthur’s death, due to our pursuit of power. The talisman did revive Arthur, but it’s also what got him killed to begin with. I don’t think continuing to hold onto such dangerous power is a good idea, so I think we should learn our lesson from before and leave it behind. Plus, even though the talisman could’ve healed Arthur, we still found another way to save him without it. This leads me to think that there will always be another way out of any situation we face, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned from stories and fables it’s that taking the easy way out always has a cost. Using the talisman could have unnecessary risks such as attracting powerful enemies that wish to take it, and we don’t need any more danger on the trip we’re about to embark on. I trust in our abilities without it. Besides, she is right that it wasn’t ours to take. Considering that we did kill her daughter it would be the right thing to do.

Martina Don Vita

The witch just literally buffed us to hide from Lilith. I think we're gonna need this from her later on. I know the Talisman is powerful but the witch knows how to use it

Amanda Nicole

Give her the talisman. It's brought Arthur & John nothing but trouble. Arthur got killed for it, and yes, it can resurrect the dead but John and Yorick brought him back without it. Plus, she hid us from Lilith and was swayed to tell Arthur more about her because, to summarize, she hates Lilith more than John. Plus, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend", right? It sounds like MD can be brought around to Arthur's side. She clearly distrusts Lilith. She could help later on if we do this for her now. She's on neither side right now, this is our chance. Also-- I first thought Kayne wanted Arthur and John to use the Blackstone to bring about the end of the world. A & J are the Dies Irae, the Day of Wrath, which these people intend to prevent. Now I'm wondering if Kayne wants to stop Lilith's plans. Arthur and John are at the center of this in a way I can't quite see right now. Yorick had his eye on Arthur since the fire on the lake, before Arthur got involved with all this and Malevolent began. Maybe, in some way, Arthur and John were marked as different, deemed anomalies by a being on the same level as Azathoth, and every eldritch horror knows it. What if they can make or break the world, if they're the key? The one thing keeping this reality in the balance.

Heather Bruce

Harlan has an excellent voice for Mother Darkness. 🖤

Ark

See you later Arthur and John! Enjoy purgatory!

Raven Fritz

Bro she said the title!! Pog

Jayquellin

I originally thought that’s why Kayne wanted it too. Considering it’s been said (by Yorick I think) that Kayne and Lilith apparently have opposing goals, it’s really interesting that this makes it seem like Kayne actually wants to save the world. I mean, I still don’t think his goals are noble, I think it’s more like “hey I spent all this time gaining control over the multiverse, I’m not gonna let you (Lilith) destroy it” and tbh he’d probably use the black stone to gain more power, but at least he probably doesn’t want to world to end! (I still don’t trust him though lol)

Abby-May Burkin

Agh!!! Her voice was so fucking awesome, holy shit!!!!! What an episode, and oh fuck, what a choice!!!! 😅

Amanda Nicole

I don't trust him either, but hopefully you're right and he just wants to keep the multiverse to himself lol. Also, are you a Key & Peele fan?
