Ooooh I’m so excited

ACE

Time dilation...interesting 👀

Alasdair Thanisch

I literally had a dream last night about Hypnos, so I'm voting Hypnos

Nicky

NOOOO!! Every one of these is a huge gamble that EWA would know the term and write anything usefully about it!

Phoebe

Time dilation seems the most oddly specific, so I'm voting for that.

Lyx Apple

Forgotten ones, hypnos might not have much to do with the worms

Nicky

The main focus right now is stopping Scratch. Can look the bugs up in the bestiary after. I’m concerned EWA may not be familiar with the term “Forgotten One” and, therefore, John would not find anything in the papers

Nicky

While I had hoped to avoid using a name, I do think Hypnos is the best bet from these options. Symbols are associated with a specific entity and same symbol was found on the floor and on the book in the room at Marie’s, on the floor of the barn, and as one of the cover symbols on the bestiary which includes info on Hypnos. It is still an assumption that it’s Hypnos, though. Forgotten One’s can be a fragment of any eldritch entity and I doubt it would be referenced in a tomb dedicated to a specific entity (the book in Marie’s) Scratch seems to be a self-adopted name, like John, and if Scratch came into being during the ritual in New York, there would be no reference to that name in these papers from before that. Time Dilation is the wild card… EWA may have been experiencing this in the house, while excavating, while testing out rituals, etc, so there may be some interesting genral info about what happened using that term. But then again, maybe not - no one noted the glass having the same warp effect as Marie’s…

Nicky

I feel like the bestiary is the best source for Forgotten One info, not the notes of a guy trying to summon something

vetchtibble

wanted to vote ‘time dilation’ so bad, but ‘forgotten ones’ seems like the most likely thing to find in a book like this

Nicky

We aren’t looking in a book. John is looking through the loose pages/notes left by Edward William Allan on/around the desk by the excavated stone vault

Fisher

I’m a #HypnosHomie on this one. We only know the term “Forgotten Ones” from the bestiary, but there’s nothing to suggest EWA knew about them. I think that Scratch was created by whatever EWA did when attempting to invoke Hypnos.

Nicky

I do feel like this is the best bet, but am real antsy about the fact that Hypnos being who EWA was interested in is still an assumption

Fisher

Yeah understandable, but at this point I can’t possibly think of any further answer, looking at the evidence and the connections that the characters themselves made. I think that the clues point to Hypnos being involved in some way, but I also can’t come up with anything else that would fit as well, either.

Indrid Hartley

I'm a hypnos girly because I think it's more specific to scratch and more likely to find us answers. (Though forgotten ones is also a good choice)

My thought process here: When looking through the notes, what do we have the most to gain? If Scratch isn’t written down, then we know for a fact Scratch is not the creatures true name and can assume it is a fracture of a larger god or at the very least his own thing. However, if Scratch IS written down, we have gained a LOT of info. First of all: Scratch called himself Scratch. Scratch was the creature eventually summoned. The notes could very well point him out directly. If you were to look up “John” in an ancient text you would find nothing, however, if you were to look through Arthur’s personal notes- he would most likely have referred to John many times. I think we have the most to gain AND learn from choosing Scratch.

Nicky

It heavily depends on when Scratch came into being and started being called that. If he was created / named in NY when the person in the secret room died, I don’t think he’ll be in the notes, but it is possible he existed/was called that before - even possible he was tied to something in the vault. Every one of these is such a gamble 😓

Lambda

We should pick Scratch. It's the only word on this list that we KNOW for a fact is connected to the creature we are trying to stop. Fragments, Hypnos, time dilation are all theories that might be connected, but the name Scratch is our one confirmed connection.

Nicky

Forgotten one: relevance to Scratch is theoretical. EWA writing about it is questionable Hypnos: relevance to Scratch is theoretical. EWA knowing is also theoretical but arguably more likely than Forgotten One Scratch: relationship to Scratch is clear. EWA knowing the name is almost 50/50 Time Dilation: relevance is theoretical. EWA knowing/writing the term is questionable

Dani Ruggeri

Time dilation wagon lets gooo! Both houses have concrete evidence of something going weird, Scratch talks about 200 years trapped in a 30 year old house, something does not add up and is the surroundings. Is a chance on finding something that helps explain exactly how he came and thus how it can leave or be trapped

Indrid Hartley

I mean scratch might just be a nickname, and might decrease our chances of finding their real name

SRaye96

Honestly if we can tie it between time dilation and Hypnos, I think we cover a good portion of our unanswered questions… but I also think both will yield the best results. We already know the forgotten ones are in the bestiary. Scratch is likely an alias. Hypos already has some identifying factors we’ve put together and time dilation is one of the biggest clues we’ve gotten.

Dipity

A tied vote is always the worst possible outcome and typically means that Arthur can't decide between the options.

Teakettle

Whatever happens, ties are the worst option. Any other choice is better than a tie.

Maddi

Time dilation for sure. It’s what Oscar was looking for in the bestiary in the first place and I feel like Allen would be familiar with the effects of the creature he’s trying to summon. trying to guess which name he’d be familiar with is a much bigger gamble. Plus we still don’t know why he summoned Scratch in the first place. It could be that time dilation was what he was after

Amy

I like Hypnos here. We have no idea if the Wright family knew that Scratch calls itself Scratch - it may have named itself that after the botched summoning. Time Dilation could work, but seems a bit too esoteric.

Teakettle

Oh, I forgot to finalise my vote. I've been firmly on time dilation, on the basis that it sounds like the most interesting option.

Erik

I'm surprised so few have voted Scratch. It seems the most plausible to me by far.

Nicky

I think it’s because there is still a lot of uncertainty of what Scratch is, when he came to be, and when he started going by Scratch. If he was somehow created/named during or after whatever went down in the secret room at Marie’s, then looking for Scratch in the notes would not turn up anything useful.

Nicky

Also, according to Discord Poll Discussion, there are some folks voting their second choice (Time Dilation) instead of top choice (Scratch) so that their bottom choices (Hypnos or Forgotten One) don’t win due to the spread
