So, my personal take is that up is safe because Owlexander hangs out there, and going someplace safe is boring & could disturb the owl, which would be rude. Besides, the floor could break down and Arthur needs a break from falling. My vote is explore down and, should things go south, scramble up to safety.

Monster is not Up because Owlexander is there. If we go Up the monster from Down will go to the Middle and we are trapped. If we go Down we corner the monster and we can go to Middle and trap it Down. Consult Invictus server for visual guide.

My instinct is to sweep top down 1) is a limited space to clear (down could be one room, or could be tunnels off somewhere) 2) if down is just a small enclosed room and something is above, it could trap them Historically going up first we’ve always still gotten to go down, but going down first doesn’t always let us go up later (ex. island)

Something could be up and move to the ground floor trapping them in the basement if it’s a single room. If something is in the lower level and moves to the ground floor when they go up, they could still potentially get down from the outside/climb down a windmill fan panel

Could still be a poisonous snake or something else that could be a threat to a sleeping person but not a big concern for a sheltering owl.

My impulse is for up. If Arthur's going to fall out of the rafters we might as well get it out of the way now.

It has been Arthur’s instinct to check up first before. Like in the old Allen house with Oscar when he wanted to explore more upstairs before checking the basement. And Alexander is chilling up there so there probably isn’t any giant freaky monster, though this is Malevolent so don’t quote me on that.

Honestly, I just don't want to disturb Owlexander. He's still a wild animal and not a pet, and might fly away if we approach his perch/home. Rather brave the potential horrors down below on this one.
