Hello All!

New fav ep so far haha. They just get better. The comedy in this one had me creasing! It was so good! Inara has the heart eyes for Mal and it's showing hard...it's just Mal can't see it! Saphron was such an interesting character, kinda hope we see more of her.

Christina Hendricks! I guess you've never watched Mad Men? Probably not a reaction show but you should definitely give it a go on your own. She was excellent on it. ETA: You're wondering why it got cancelled (aren't we all lol). As it often is in life it's all about money. FOX said it was too expensive to make proportionally to the ratings. Frankly they never gave it a decent chance. They didn't really advertise it, fcked around with the episode order. Also (don't quote me on that) but I think it was aired in that infamous tv death slot of Friday nights. It only became cult classic a couple of years later.

Everything you said is correct. The time slot (I don't remember what slot it was exactly) but it was the worst one available... And they screwed up the episode order ruining the flow of the story... And they cancelled it well before the season even finished airing proving (IMO) that they never intended to allow it to have a second season from the beginning. "Politics"

"New fav ep so far"! I was going to comment after you said that last time. This and the next few are often the favorite episode of many a Browncoat (you do know that's what you are now, right?). So be prepared to be saying that again....and again.

If this show had been made in the streaming era (like Lucifer for example), I think it would have been saved by Netflix, Amazon or one of the others.

Yeah, this episode is one of my favorites. There's several more favorite episodes on the way but they are all really good episodes. I'm pretty sure I've said it before but I just really love this show! Take care and see ya at the next one.

To be fair most people in the verse hear that somones from shadow they shut up shadow doesnt show in the show but its fa5e is references in a book , the planet joined the rebelion early on and was glassed i mean full orbital bombing nuclear blasts the planet is a radioactove crater now

I knew Mal would grow on you lol. He's a great character as are the rest of the characters in this show. Definitely the highlight of the series for me

The network never gave the show a chance from the start. They showed episodes out of order and put it in timeslots that were considered death slots for TV shows. While it was never given another chance on TV the fact it became a cult hit after cancellation did eventually result in the film happening. The cast seemed to get on very well they had a great reunion video that you should watch after you finish the show and film. Nathan Fillion, Mal, went on to star in a TV show called Castle where he purposely put tons of Firefly Easter eggs in the show.

Everyone wishes that Saffron made another appearance. If Firefly had gotten the seven seasons it deserved, I suspect she would have been like Ethan Rayne in Buffy. I would have loved having her showing up once or twice a season to sow chaos.

This is a bit of a spoiler, since Dak hasn't seen the rest of the season, so would expect she'd still think Saffron might show up. Which is to be expected. So, best not to let her know whether that happens or not.

Saffron would have just thought that River was crazy and paid her little or no mind, but River would have seen through the mask right away. Also there were some cultures that viewed the ceremony that we saw as a marriage(Usually a little more was involved, but the same idea.) Zoe was mad because of the effect that Saffron was having on Walsh. She probably sensed that something was a little off with the girl, but Walsh just wanted to defend Saffron, instead of agreeing with Zoe that something didn't quite add up. Naturally Inara would have recognized the dance and tried to stop it.

I wouldn't call it a spoiler since I imagine that everyone wishes Saffron made another appearance, regardless of whether she reappears, or not. 😁

Love to see you having so much fun in this episode! I like how the crew of Serenity are thematically paired : Zoe and Jayne, even if they don't have much in common, are the first line of defence (or offence) on Serenity. In this episode in particular, Wash and Kaylee show that beside being extremely good at their specific job, they have a common language: they talk "machine" and so they work well together on the technical side of things. Simon and Inara are both from higher society and can feed information on that society and on what is going on on core/Alliance planets and moons. Finally, Malcolm and the shephard have a similar sharp mind; they are tacticians of sort and they they can size people quite fast, what they want and what they need, the good and the bad. This left only River not paired up; she is the ugly little duckling, not quite fitting anywhere. Oh, and the guy that wanted the ship is Benito Martinez. He was Edgar the Leviathan in Supernatural.

I heard that the executive in charge was replace not long after greenlighing Firefly and his replacement wanted to get rid of everything the first guy did, hence the mucking about the schedule and the early cancellation. Something similar almost happen with Supernatural, too. But Kripke and the gang got lucky because a higher executive really liked the show.

Ehhh... I don't remember the specifics. I do remember an interview with Jensen recalling a conversation with one of the new high up executive people (I wanna say one of the highest) and they literally had no idea who he was or what Supernatural was. He had to explain to them it was their longest running show. (Ok maybe this was not the 1st but 2nd or 3rd re-hiring) But yeah... I've heard it was up for possible cancellation like every few years the whole way through. Thank the universe it survived.

I never warmed to the theme song, although the instrumentals are fine. The only show I can think of with a worse theme song is Star Trek: Enterprise.
