Hello All!   

Interesting idea for a show and I definitely would like to know more. The pilot didn't suck me in instantly but I still enjoyed it, I feel like it would become a great watch once all the initial setup has been covered. The belters look cool AF and I loved seeing Death appear on my screen (SPN watchers). Please as always let me know if this is a show you'd like to see me cover, if it gets enough interest I would consider watching this once Cobra Kai is on hiatus.

😱 AHHHHHH!!!! Omg this was a Surprise! WhoHoo (Yes I vote to watch this show if you can't tell). Me being a real space tech nerd makes this one of my favorite shows. Not many movies/shows get the science part of space real enough for me to truly enjoy watching. I've heard people say it starts a little slow. I was HOOKED from the start so I can't help there. Also... It makes a difference if you get to binge the first season like I did vs one episode a week like a lot of people did. Ok done bye

OMFG I freaked out when I saw the notification for this. Please stick with this series because I think you will love it. Admittedly the show does have a fairly slow start and it takes awhile to get going, but I hope you pick this up. I think you just need to get through the initial world building in the first couple of episodes. Also it is only 6 seasons with like 10 episodes per season so it's not a huge series to get through compared to shows with 22 episodes a season.

This is one of my favourite sci-fi shows and I hope you do continue with it. I think the general consensus is that the first couple of episodes are more about world-building and that can make them seem slow to some viewers.

Kinda forgot to include that although if your not particularly a space nerd like me and you feel the start is a little slow.... Don't worry. In true space travel fashion... It may take a little while to get launched... But when it does... oh My GOD!!!! you better hang on cause you are in for the ride of your Life!!! Seriously. This show will surprise you.

And there is a lot of world to build. Rightfully so. I was slightly late to the party. I got to binge the whole first season days before season 2 started so the slowish couple episodes others felt I blew through non stop overnight and then some. 😬 After the first couple world buildings eps I don't recall a single episode I wasn't on the edge of my seat!!!

not watched yet cuz cobra kai takes preference sorry not sorry lol but this is a great show , probably need to see the first 4 episodes to get super invested much like firefly the characters are wonderful in this show and id ofc say watch it for sure but after the last kingdom LOL sry couldnt help myself but again not sorry lol . i would kinda like to see you react to the live action netflix show one piece as its just so far the one season i feel like you would enjoy that one . ok anyways gotta watch johnny and the gang so shall check this later but looking forward to it for sure

Yeah as someone who loves this show I have to admit the first couple of episodes are really slow. I remember that I struggled to get through them myself and had to give the show some time. But oh boy when you do get deeper into the show it just gets so good. Like you said they are doing a ton of world building at the start.

One of my favorite sci-fi shows along with Firefly and Battlestar Galactica (the remake from 2004). It takes a few episodes to really get going, and I would say I wasn't totally hooked until episode 4. After that it just keeps getting better and better. Season 3 especially is truly a masterpiece! I hope you continue this one at some point :)

Agreed with a few other posts, Expanse is up there with Firefly, Battlestar and Stargate SG-1 for my favorite Scifi shows. I hope you continue it, great story and awesome characters.

Oooo I started Battlestar Galactica 2004 for the first time earlier this year. I binged season 1 and a couple episodes season 2. I need to get back to that.

1) i finally started watching this myself so i'm just ahead of you by about a season lol. 2) omg i was convinced the captain was rosalee, too! but i finally looked her up and she played elle in the first season of criminal minds! 3) like with seemingly everyone else on this show, holden looked so familiar and i couldn't figure out why. looking through his imdb, i was like "maybe i know him from the covenant somehow?" but then i saw it: sky high, warren peace. omg lmao icon i will say as someone who's only slightly ahead of you, the pilot was both very busy and kinda slow like you said but everything comes into focus within 2-3 episodes and you're able to follow the different stories much more easily lol. i'm having fun with it!

Thank you for sharing. Imagine how many people only watched the pilot or maybe ep 2 and stopped and never finished. I've watched so many shows (perks of a deep passion for video storytelling coupled with insomnia) and this is in my top 3-5 of all shows regardless of genre. (Like... Omg I'm so excited for you. You have no idea what amazing things are in front of you).

From what I've seen from other reaction channels, by episode 4 most people are FULLY IN. I read the first book of the series this show is based on, so I was on board from the beginning also.

Just finished watching and as I previously said it took me four episodes to get invested it is slow to start with but once you get a few episodes in you won't look back . The crew are indeed in a way similar to firefly yes good point dak Amos being my favourite although I like the entire crew . Chernobyl is an incredible show brutal , heartbreaking but brilliant and being a true story it's mind-blowing what happened and what went on . This is a show everyone should watch be it in their own time or for a reaction it generally does great on YouTube so I'd for sure say yes to reacting to this great show and it's only 5 episodes so easy to slot in 👍 shall I plug the last kingdom again 🤔 lol ok I won't lol but what I will say I spoke to one of my brother's who loves the show also and we are thinking of travelling up to the Scottish border to visit bamburgh castle with the last kingdom exhibition there until November 👍 ok enough rambling enjoyed the pilot a lot and your honest assessment is always wonderful cheers dak

Chernobyl is absolutely brutal. But rightfully so. I agree everyone needs to watch it once in their life.

I like that you likened this to Firefly - I actually first came across it (the books), before the series was even made because I’d been googling “other series which are like Firefly” or something like that to try and get my fix after that ended so abruptly! This does have strong Firefly vibes, although it grows and changes in a way that Firefly was never able to, so that vibe does diverge. I would love this series to be next on your list :) Wholeheartedly agree with those saying it takes a few episodes to get into, but it’s not a whole season - you would definitely be hooked well before the end of the first season.

I hope you stick with it Dak, it's a show that's worth your time. Like others have said, there's a lot of world building in the early episodes so you might need a bit of patience, but this really is top tier sci fi. Dark is another great show that I'd love to see again, so that's something else to look forward to. Love your top btw!

Please do continue watching The Expanse. I concur with others who say that once it gets going it's a wild ride. There are so many characters in the pilot who barely register but I guarantee will become firm favourites.

@AC10 I haven't been keeping up with space shows a lot. I need to work on that. I adore Firefly, BSG and Farscape but space in general gives me a bit of anxiety and existential crisis lol Also nobody mentioned there's fake creole involved in this! OMG! I had a phase for creole when I was a kid because my grandma was obsessed with Zouk Machine and La Compagnie Créole... (I sometimes wonder if my childhood sound deranged ngl lol)

Expanse is a slow burn. There's a lot to set up, but once it does you'll find that you can't stop watching. It was a great mix of mystery, intrigue, and suspense, mixed with some REAL science. I remember starting to watch this show, but my schedule at work didn't allow for it after a few episodes. Looking forward to getting back into it. The maneuver that the ice hauler performed, the flip and burn< would have pulled some serious g's so they really needed to be strapped down tight. The ooze that they were receiving was likely a combination of drugs to keep them from passing out.

I really enjoyed this when it aired, but interestingly enough, I haven't seen the whole series. Season 6 aired about 3 1/2 months after I broke my back and ended 10 days after I came back home; It'll be fun watching it with you. I will say that I think they tossed way too many characters, names, and storylines at the viewer right away that makes one confused as to what the hell is going on, but give it four or five episodes and you'll get into the groove. When the series was cancelled after season 3, Amazon picked it up and the writing was different to me from the get-go. I still enjoyed it, but the vibe definitely changed a bit. There are many people that say that change was the downfall of the series, but I disagree. It's worth the investment and feels so familiar with those that have watched Firefly (imagine 6 seasons of Firefly 🥰) and the Alien franchise. Shohreh Aghdashloo (Chrisjen) has one of the best voices in the world ever. If she and Morgan Freeman were my parents I'd still be living at home and asking them both to read bedtime stories to me every night. Anyone else have a crush on Naomi? ❤️‍🔥 I almost forgot: the profanity escalates over the seasons and I'm hoping you don't censor it. Glad you chose to dive into The Expanse, Dak. It's a fun ride. Omg.. thank you for sharing all this. And my best wishes that you are now or soon fully healed from your injuries. -- I've seen so many comments all over the internet "complain" that the world/character building over the first 3 or 4 or 5 episodes in the very beginning was "too long" and "hurt the show" (I'm not suggesting you believe this). I could not DISAGREE more. If a show NEEDS a few episodes to build the world for the audience.... Well... That means that The World is Big Enough to Require multiple episodes to explain to the audience.... --- I can't help but see this as a CLEAR sign that this story has the potential to be amazing. I mean... Let's think about this LOGICALLY ok.... If the entire world of the story being told can be shared in 10min vs 120min.... Which world would the audience most likely enjoy more??? A tiny insignificant world that can be entirely explained in 10min or a VAST world with endless opportunities that takes a large part of multiple 40min episodes to explain to the audience??? --- I know so many people now days want instant gratification. But I hate it. Because it almost 100% of the time means the story is tiny and exhausted after one season and has "no room to grow" from the initial few episodes. -- I'm so very thankful for shows now days that still exist like this. Shows like this will be rewatchable for many, many years to come. Where I feel like so many other instant gratification shows may be popular at release... But don't have rewatch capability. --- I swear I didn't mean for this to be a rant... But it is what it is. I just had a thought to share at this moment. --edit for horrible typos/auto correct issues.

😱 you never finished it???? If so... Omg omg you have no idea what you are missing. I'm not exaggerating. Every episode builds on the last. Every season is better than the last. (My personal opinion obviously). By season 2 or 3 I was literally on the edge of my seat blown completely away by this show. I constantly, still to this day, forget that the show started slow in the first few episodes.

I personally feel like the greatest shows (stories) all start slow. A great story IMO has a great world. A great world takes time to reveal to the audience. Therefore... I believe that a show that has a "slow start" has at least a great Potential for a great story to follow. I fully recommend you finish watching regardless of what Dak decides to do.

This is a 1st watch for me. Man oh Man I was stressed when they were outrunning the missiles and Holden was giving quick instructions to the crew back on the ship, and then Bang! I had to pick my jaw up off the table. Holden was taking about capture and negotiating. Well there will be NONE of that. All cuz he recorded the distress call. Okay. I’m in.

I know. My work schedule at the time wouldn't let me keep up with it. I started missing episodes, and with a show like The Expanse, that's a kiss of death. It's not the kind of show that lets you "fill the gaps".

love this show dak! im such a sucker for more realistic portrayals in my space shows. has been a while since ive watched n i never did finish the last season. i stopped after I suggested this to you. So I hope you continue with it, would be exciting to finish the show along with you ❤️

Been busy so I just got around to watching this reaction. Loved seeing you do this series and I REALLY hope you continue with it. As others have said, it took me about 3 or 4 episodes to be fully hooked on this series and feel like I had a firm grasp on everything going on, but it is 100% worth it!

The Expanse is SOOO worth watching, even though it starts a bit slow. My journey kind of went like this "(Season 1) That was interesting. I love the story and setting so far. I think I'll check out season 2. (Season 2) That was really good and it definitely took a turn I wasn't expecting, I cant wait to check out season three! (Season 3) Oh so actually this is one of the greatest shows ever created and features some of the best characters ever written and I cant believe there isn't unlimited seasons!"

You should definitely consider reacting to this series. The Expanse is a slow build, but it really picks up in later episodes. Based on what you've done before if you react to this series I think you'll enjoy it and have plenty of theories to nerd out about with us!

I realize I'm a bit late, I just joined from YouTube because you mentioned you were watching Expanse in your latest Fringe episode. It's tough to have a favorite, but this is one of my favorite overall shows. I understand everyone else says the show starts of slow. I never really thought so. I'd say the show starts of very dense though. And even after reading the books and watching it multiple times (this here will be my 4th time through) still finding little things I don't recall catching before.
