Hello All!

PETER ISN'T FROM THIS REALITY?! I'm sorry - WHAT?! Honestly the twists in this show I feel are gonna be unmatched. With this I just felt such a strange vibe because when Jones was split in two and no one was affected by the portal, I genuinely thought, well I guess that's that - NOPE - the episode continued and the shocks kept coming! What an incredible season guys! I am soooooo ready for the next one.

Truly hope you enjoy the reaction folks. Have a fab week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support!

Much love

Dakara x

"Something precious was lost to me. I was convinced that if I could cross over myself, I could take from there what I lost here" CHILLS! I gotta say rewatching S1 with knowledge about Peter is an incredibly satisfying experience. I've been trying to keep track of all the hints we got but there are so many pretty much right from the start. My favourite is Peter's comment in 1x15 (?) on remembering GI Joe having a scar on the other side. The other side! Talk about a double meaning! It's not even my favourite Fringe finale and it still is just spectacular! Favourite detail tho: headlines of the newspaper that Olivia sees in New York indicating JFK being alive and White House being destroyed in 9/11 instead of WTC. Ngl I wish I had intellectual capacity to actually understand quantum mechanics and string theory, and multiverse theory, etc. The idea of alternate universes is one of my favourite sci-fi concepts. It'd be nice to comprehend it on more scientific level.

A little moment I love is when Walter and The Observer are standing on the beach. The Observer hands Walter that coin and tells him that it is similar to the one Walter is thinking of, but not the same one. Then he says “There is more than one of everything” before looking briefly concerned and saying “I have said too much, I am not supposed to get involved.” It’s such a small moment, but it resonates so well when you reflect back on it after the end of the episode.

DakaraJayne

Staaaaahhhhppp you're gonna set me off again! The chills were so real.

Omg I just love it so much. I feel this is a very rewatchable show already. I bet if I did rematch s1 I'd spot many things. I just watched the 2x01 ep and there's a car crash and I was like O.O there was a near crash in the finale!

Oh boy here we finally are at last, firstly i just want to reassure you that all of your considerations/thoughts in the post ep discussion were all on the right track, you didn’t take any wrong turns when it comes to understanding the plot so don’t worry, obviously i won’t confirm or deny any of your speculations but i wanted to assure that they all make sense in the context of what you’ve seen so far. Ok with that out of the way WOW this episode is still so good even after so many rewatches, it really brings together all of the threads of season 1 in a wonderful way, but let’s get to the real meat, yep that sure is a tombstone with Peter’s name on it and the ramifications that it brings are massive, it recontextualizes season 1 as whole in a completely different light and trust me on a rewatch the season feels so different once you know it, i saw someone in the comments write their favourite hint in season 1 about the Peter reveal and mine is actually the one in ep 10 where Jones is evading from Prison with Walter’s device, in that ep at some point Peter passes a coin over his knuckles just like he does in this episode and if you look closely you can see Walter’s look change drastically and he starts to talk about Peter’s illness, almost like that action unlocked that memory and now we know why. (keep the coin in mind for later) I won’t go too deep in the Peter reveal because as i am sure you can already guess it’s going to be one of the main plot points of the show moving forward so there is going to be a lot of time to talk about it in the future. The other major reveal, the confirmation of the existence of an alternate universe and Bell being there and also Olivia (apparently) traveling there at the end to find out…. that yes William Bell is played by Leonard Nemoy XD, with a little tease in ep 19. Fringe is so good at the little hints of world building like the paper on Bell’s desk which has some really cool things to find out about if you want to go back and look at it later, the twin towers reveal has maybe lost a little bit of the impact it had at the time coonsidering that this episode aired in 2010 and at that point it was still an event quite fresh in the collective memory of everybody even for someone like me who isn’t american and i can only imagine for them, i do still love it though because it immediately puts into prospective that this universe is very much it’s own thing and just like dorothy (also mentioned in this ep) Olivia has just stepped into a whole new reality that might look very similar to hers but it’s really not. MVP scene of the episode for me though has to be the beach house scene with Peter and Walter in all aspect but especially when it comes the lighting, there is a whole section where they are speaking to each other and both their faces are half in the light and half in the darkness and that symbolism is just fantastic imo, also i’m always very soft for Peter’s (very few) happy memories about his childhood with Walter and the way he tell them and it made me tear up too. Ok i’ve officially made a longer comment than i intended and i apologize XD but i just want to express one last time just how much i appreciate your investment in the show because it makes watching your reactions so much more rewarding, so keep it up and season 2 here come!! (really prepare yourself emotionally for this one ;)

Audra Foxgrove

Omg lol & I just remembered what former actress shows up in 2x01 🤣

Audra Foxgrove

I can now reveal to you that in my mind, she was always “that actress in the season two Fringe premiere” before she was a member of a royal family 🤣🤣🤣

Gary Marshall

Loving your reactions to season one of Fringe. I love this cast and how they've grown throughout the season, their bond is almost familial. At the end when they get the note from Walter and Peter tells Astrid that 'their little boy has grown up' I get very teary eyed. I love that Leonard Nimoy IS William Bell, such great casting but a pity that he was named in the opening credits as it almost spoils the reveal at the end. Having said that, we did hear his distinctive voice back in 1x17 and there were quite a few Star Trek references in the previous episode as Emmanuel Grayson (the conspiracist) bears the same surname as the mother of Spock, Amanda Grayson. In addition, the series' creators were, at this time, involved in producing a new Star Trek movie which involves a plot similar to the one Grayson described. Emmanuel Grayson lives in apartment number 1701. That's the number of the Starship Enterprise. The actor playing Emmanuel Grayson, Clint Howard, guest-starred in 'The Corbomite Maneuver', the very first regular Star Trek episode to be filmed, in 1966. And the final shot of the season shows that Olivia isn't in our world as it shows that William Bells offices are in the Twin Towers! Looking forward to your reactions to season 2, "Live long and Prosper".

Mirko Paskota

Dakara, thanks for the shout-out! Regarding the ep, by the time I got home today all the comments/observations I was planning to make were already made by the others, so I do not need to repeat them... Onwards to season 2!

Neumann

you can use an air xylophone for the intro lol yes, i can finally mention all the foreshadowing to peter being from a different universe! like when they were all talking in their hotel room, walter holds open the mini-fridge and part of the conversation is with peter's reflection! of course, that's also just clever camera work but considering everything, also foreshadowing. and he's CONSTANTLY making references to not remembering things how others do or how he could've sworn his old action figure's scar was on the other side. so many little things throughout the season. UGH I LOVE THIS SHOW! god i've been waiting for this reveal as for the reaction to the shot of olivia in the other universe: lol, interesting, very different reaction from a non-american. another commenter (Christian) mentioned that by now, a shot like that has lost some impact but it definitely still has an impact to american viewers even if it doesn't pack quite the gut punch that it used to (probably a result of too many filmmakers using it as a quick shorthand to say "something is off" lol.) regardless, i'm so glad you didn't figure out the leonard nimoy was william bell until he spoke despite the opening credits ruining that surprise omg i can't wait for what's coming omg. john scott feels like so long ago

Cathy Gillies

l'm so glad you are enjoying Fringe. The double reveal at the end of the finale is amazing and really sets up the rest of the show. I love your comments about the Peter and Walter scene - as much as I love Polivia, I think that the relationship between Peter and Walter is the heart of the show. Can't wait for season 2!

DB

Here for this comment! I adore Polivia, forever one of my favourite ships but Fringe is all about the Bishop boys to me, a parent-child story at its core.

MainTankMaisy

I had to come to the comments to see if anyone caught that she was actually meeting Bell in one of the World Trade Center buildings and the newspaper confirmed that it was past the date they were destroyed in our timeline. Just one of the many things that they hide in the small details of this show, it seems. I haven't seen this before either. I'm watching for the first time alongside Dakara, so I have no idea where it's going. I did notice the observer in at least one episode Dakara didn't see him though. Made me feel like I was really observant (wink, wink). It was in the episode with the wife that went to the club to kill men for spinal fluid. Anyway, it's starting to get really good guys!

Brian Dworak

Great season finale, but I think I would've enjoyed it even more if I had WATCHED EP 19 FIRST... 🙄

FedeM

The chills from the Peter reveal will forever be unmatched! There is so much foreshadowing this season about this and other plotlines that I won't spoil of course but it is just too good to rewatch. The famous breadcrumbs.... "There is more than one of everything" is also one of the many beautiful quotes I got form this show, I'll try and point them all out as we go along Can't wait for season 2!!!

SORPunk

I love this episode. Especially the end. The show has been hinting at some things, but you havent, as of this episode, really seen. Cant wait for your mind to go boom

TheMartinScott

This episode of Fringe blew my mind -- I remember anticipating the next one for months. In your recap, you mentioned, "All the things I'll get wrong." But here’s the big thing -- you aren’t getting things wrong. Relax, enjoy the show. You notice and understand far more than most of us did when we first watched it. Aside from my family, you’re the only person I’ve ever recommended Fringe to. It’s not just that you’re clever -- it’s that you’re both clever and intellectually curious. Watching your reactions to Buffy, I saw how much you value explanations, consistency, and the puzzle pieces fitting together. Not everyone approaches stories like this or cares about the details. By the way, this episode was packed with scientific principles and theories, and you picked up on them, using them to make predictions. You’re not just noticing the right things -- you’re also asking the right questions.
