Hello All!

I have a lot feelings and thoughts guys okay!! Season 2 starts off strong with this episode. Peter is shook at the thought of Olivia dying and reborn once he knows she's okay! I just can't. I'm gonna need to take this moment to share my love for Charlie and say my goodbyes to him as well-that hurt! I'm sure we will see more of the actor so that's great but our beloved Charlie has indeed been killed and thrown in a furnace??!! OUCH! Also, Royality has entered the show!! Didn't expect to see that face when watching S2 haha. Hope she can be trusted!

Much love

Dakara x

Dakara, Remember in ep 1x17 when Nick Lane talks to Olivia on the roof-top? He says "the soldier to come is both natural and unnatural..." Well, here we go...!

DB

I remember being really unsure about this premiere because I spent half the episode worrying the new girl was there to replace Olivia. And then at the end of the episode I was worried the new girl was there to replace Charlie. I think there's a lot to love about it but I admit my current judgment is still a bit on the harsh side. I just think Meghan's character is unnecessary (Disclaimer just in case lol: I'm not British, I don't get monarchy despite currently living under one and I actually liked her on Suits). I cannot stand the exposition for the potential new viewers they do through Peter showing her around the lab. It's a TV pet peeve of mine, sorry. Plus where did that paper with a code that Jessup uses to hack Fringe files come from? Did they cut a scene where she gets it or am I being inattentive? Olivia's smile never read as creepy to me but you know what I find OOC? Her saying bitch. And I won't even comment on Charlie's fate cause it's just upsetting. Ok that's a lot of criticism for the beginning of a season I was obsessed with... Sorry! But I love Polivia interactions, Peter with Walter and poor Astrid being roped into the cake making. So nothing new I guess lol And I'm surprised we went an entire season without mentioning Timothy Leary. Of course he'd be impressed with Walter's drugs! Also custard is disgusting and so is flan. But oh boy, I'm with Walter on mussels :)

Katie

I read that because they moved to Canada for filming in season 2, Anna Torv was considering quitting. That's why they brought in Meghan Markle as a potential replacement, but luckily Anna Torv decided to stay.

DB

@Katie oh makes sense! Imagine that alternate universe where Anna quits. That's a no from me...

For me, this premiere was always on the rough side because of the way that it was clearly mandated by producers that they re-introduce the show for a new audience that didn’t watch season one. I think I like it much more on re-watch, knowing where the story goes, than I did on my initial viewing, however. Because I don’t have to wonder where things are going, on rewatch I can really appreciate the things that I enjoy, like Broyles and Peter together, Peter‘s emotions about Olivia being so on display, Rachel being present in the episode and giving an amazing performance even though she had barely any screen time, an exciting and new more active viewpoint for the division going forward, etc. Agent Jessop’s character was always going to be fighting a losing battle because the audience was going to be comparing her to Olivia, and the writers don’t seem to have given a ton of thought to her— at least based on this initial episode. I can’t say much more because I want to be careful of spoilers but, I am really REALLY looking forward to you seeing more of this season. I really feel like this is when the show begins to hit its stride and begins blooming into the incredible thing it becomes.

Katie

Thank god in our reality that didn't happen!

Katie

I think the best scene in this episode is when Charlie is talking to Olivia in hospital. I loved their friendship and how supportive he was of her. He was taken too soon 😭

I am not going to address the loss of our Charlie cause I don't feel like crying today and my heart won't ever recover. Period. Moving on, beyond what others have already mentioned about the premiere, the kiss between Nina and Broyles is a real wtf moment! And kisses on those stairs..... give me ptsd. That's all I can say for now though!!! "Be a better man than your father" is another beautiful quote Fringe gifted me with and I am beyond excited that we finally are in season 2! This season is absolutely wonderful, filled with emotion and action and mid-way through it is where the show really entered the 'best-shows-ever' category imo. Can't wait for more! <3

Dakara, The doctor was quite correct - human brain simply does not recover from such trauma ... a NORMAL human brain, that is! However, a brain of someone that was treated, when they were 3+, with experimental drugs intended to influence their brain functions - well, now, ...

Neumann

lmao i was waiting for your reaction to meghan markle! if i ever, somehow someway meet her, i'm calling her agent jessup. it's still so weird to see her here "the old X designation" clever clever, technically putting x-files and fringe in the same universe lol. you were wondering why peter's thoughts went straight to olivia being in danger; she told him the accident wasn't an accident, that someone was trying to stop her. even without knowing what they were trying to stop olivia from doing and knowing that she did do it (whatever it is), this guy's obviously targeting her i'm STILL heartbroken about charlie! he was the best and now he's THIS?! right when olivia really needs what is probably her best friend. what about his wife?! they don't even have a body to bury!

Elsa Millie

LMAO Walter was out of control in this episode!! The dude was eating a twizzler with his bloody gloves on. Surely he's ingesting this dead dude's blood. Oh Walter!!

Neumann

oh it totally is lol

SORPunk

Ya, I wasnt too happy about losing Charlie. Such a great ally to Olivia and the main crew. Hell, he was part of the main crew. And they really glossed over his death. He deserved better.
