Hello All!

I was dreading this moment for so long and it's finally happened! Peter, I'm so sorry. Imagine being in his shoes?! I can't even!! He took the news as expected and I now just pray that he will return and have a conversation with Walter that they both really need. I think for Peter he needs to know what the other world is like to truly wrap his head around what's happened - man O man I hope we get to witness that!!

Much love

Dakara x

The moment Peter slips and calls Walter dad, we knew the episode was gonna end up in a heartbreak ;) We cannot give the characters any happiness, of course! But honestly, Peter deserved to know. Secrets can annihilate trust in a family, sometimes to the point of no return. Peter needed to know the truth and he needed to leave to deal with this on his own. I know it hurts Walter but in order not to permanently lose him, he needs to let him go for now. How else is he going to process this otherwise? Plus he wasn't told by Walter. He figured it out by accident and I think it's adding insult to injury. Anyway, I appreciate the empathy you have for Peter. I remember fans hating on him for his reaction and for leaving. It is clear that he was always trying to find his place in a world that just didn't feel quite right. I can't imagine thinking you might have finally been successful in your quest only to realise it's been built on a lie. And as horrific as that newfound knowledge is for him, I don't think there's anything more traumatic than realising the unintentional role he had in his mother's suicide. Everything IMO pales in comparison, including the kidnapping. There was contained rage in his reaction but so much heartbreak as well in the way he mentions his childhood and Elizabeth. I'm intrigued by Peter's decision on not involving Olivia once he figured out the truth. He sends her away with such a calm (albeit manipulative) demeanor of "everything is fine". I actually wonder if he's feeling betrayed by her and just prefers not to talk to her more than necessary. I do genuinely believe he's aware or at the very least suspects she might know the big secret. He did notice when she was avoiding him for a while, there was that comment about water absorbing energy and he clearly can connect the dots. On a much lighter note Walter commits an actual crime against bread in this episode lol Why do you squeeze it like that! I refuse to believe you don't have a sharper knife in your kitchen, Walter!

Hi Dakara, Thanks for the shout-out! Another brilliant reaction, and very well done on immediately picking on a subtle but important detail - from Walter's story about Peter, Olivia knows that plenty of water will absorb excess energy; when Peter jumps to the wrong conclusion, she looks at Walter and waits for him to chime in, but Walter is too afraid to speak, so she tells Peter about water... And Peter is like "wait a minute, since when are YOU a science geek around here..!?" I agree with you that the suicide of his "mother" plays a very significant part. I also agree with DB that Peter, at least subconsciously, considers that Olivia knew more about the whole situation, but did not tell him. In summary, we have a parallel of a well known situation - do adoptive parents tell adopted child the truth? If it is 100% certain that the child will never found out, maybe not - but is is NEVER 100%! And it is so much worse if a child finds out on their own instead of being told by adoptive parents... The sense of betrayal is huge, just like Peter is now feeling!!

Dammit Walter if you had just given peter the letter! 😩 also: remember, Walter has named the other Walter, peter’s father, Walternate. It’s way to good of a nickname to just leave lol

Completely agree on all front, i haven’t had a chance to write a comment about this ep and i’m glad i found this one because it hits on all of the points i wanted to make, the big one is the fact that Peter’s harsh (but totally fair) reaction is mostly about his mother, just like you mentioned, because finding out that he is from a different universe for him is mostly just a confirmation of something he has felt all of his life and that subconsciously he probably knew already (from his dreams in 2x05), the central issue for him (other than the kidnapping) is for sure the fact that because he was lied to he ended up playing a (involuntary) part in his mother suicide for which he clearly already felt partially guilty based on his conversation earlier in the ep with Olivia and now he feels it tenfold. Man that scene where Peter wakes up is so tense because the minute he wakes up you know something is wrong because he has never looked at Olivia in that way in the whole show and you can clearly see that he had to force himself to change his expression to mask his feeling and then when Walter comes in the way he looks at him is sooo good, he is raging in the inside but he doesn’t want to explode until he has certainty that what he has figure out is true (even though he knows it is) and then when Walter’s expression confirms it he is OFF and it’s brutal, it’s everything that Walter feared in the past few episodes. It’s so painful but so good, from an entertainment point of view i love that Peter figures it out on his own because i love when smart characters actually behave that way XD, but from a character perspective it’s so much worse because at least if it was Walter telling him he could have controlled the way he received the informations but like this it’s like an avalanche of emotions with no way of stopping it.

@christian YES TO ALL OF IT! You've analysed that last scene way better than I could!
