Hello All!

well well well, there's a brand new sh*t storm heading to our team after Miller's instructions to Holden and I'm terrified!!! I'm sure they'll handle it but there's always sacrifices along the way...

Much love

What a treat to get it a bit earlier than normal, thanks Dakara!

"I like the things that you see better than the ones that I do" - I like this quote from Avasarala's husband (and yes they did recast him). I think the quote is a bit of a reflection on how she feels about the ring gates and people wishing to colonize and explore the new worlds and systems. She feels hesitation and fear about the protomolecule and the pioneering spirit of the human race, which her husband points out is alive and well on Mars (or at least used to be) takes a backseat in her mind to the concern of possible annihilation of everyone, so she comments on his ability to still see that side of humanity and its value. It's such a brief moment in the episode but I think it has a lot beneath it.

Mirko Paskota

Dakara, loved your post-ep discussion, especially the part about Bobbie!

Thadman

Chrisjen sometimes hates being right 'cause she tends to think in worst case scenarios. You don't wanna be right if you're predicting the end of human civilization. If she was thinking in terms of victory or winning at something, she wouldn't hate being right. WE like when she's right 'cause it bolsters our faith in her as a very smart cookie. Side note: Where'd that expression come from, "smart cookie?" I mean, what? I know, I said it, but d'you expect me to know everything I say?

DakaraJayne

That was a flippant comment not a literal one lol but yeah, you're right

Thadman

I can be very literal sometimes, especially if I'm in an irritable mood. Sometimes, though, I have seen responses that I thought were flippant but the people actually go forward with that statement as though it were fact, but I hear ya. I'm a bit irritable and depressed right now. I try not to let it bleed out on others, but am not always successful. That being said, I also wasn't completely serious here either. I mean, "cookie?" How can there be a smart cookie? Again, literal.

DakaraJayne

Hope you're okay and tomorrow turns things around 💙

Loved the episode, so much seemed to be happening' People are still trying to get through the Ring, and it's fallen to Ashford and Drummer to stop them if they can, and if they can't; punish those responsible. We got a glimpse of life as a settler, the Firefly vibes were very welcome. Anyone that's played "Starfield" would have gotten it. I can agree with the UN and Martian perspective about use and useless. If it serves no purpose for continued survival, then ignore it. Bobbie is persona non grata on Mars, but like I said before. she's a Mars girl to the core. Even with every reason to leave, and having options like the job that Christjen offered her, she's determined to stay.(Did I say I love this character, because I do.) Naomi is doing well outwardly, but her cv system is not well developed. Understandable considering that she's never been on a planet before. Her cardio-vascular system will be the last thing to develop, and it will take time. She needs to take it easy and not over tax her system(Subtle hint there woman). These artifacts(?) are as old as the planet, but the ecosystem is fairly recent(on a geological time table),and now they have become active, On top of that, someone among the settlers is not who they claim to be. Oh yes, Bobble, being the bad ass that she is, has both protected her nephew, AND, made an enemy that the criminal element of Mars is afraid of. And this is only the second episode of the season!

Loved the reaction, as always! The pace did pick up a little in this one. I still think it feels a bit like the first season to me, with multiple seemingly disconnected storylines happening in different places. I wonder if or how they will converge? Unfortunately, by the time The Expanse was renewed on Amazon, Brian George was unavailable to reprise his role as Arjun Avasarala. Recasting is almost never disirable, but of course it's not like they could put the whole production on pause just to wait for a supporting role. Unfortunate, but understandable 😔

Thadman

Right before you replied, I dropped my phone outside pulling it out of my pocket and cracked the screen, sooo things are not turning around just yet. 😐 Thanks for the well wishes though. It did make me feel slightly better.

PaulC

As others have said, they had to recast Chrisjen's husband as the original actor was unavailable. Also, Murtry (Murty? Marty?) is played by Burn Gorman who was Karl Tanner on Game of Thrones (seasons 3-4).

On behalf of the entire human race, I'd like to thank Saturn and it's gravity, for capturing Phoebe all those millions/billions of years ago, thereby preventing the protomolecule from hijacking life on Earth, like it's apparently done with Ilus. There would've been no belter from Lost Girl for Dak to lose after just a couple of episodes, none of Naomi's stubborness to reprimand, and of course neither of Amos' arms for Thirstkara. Thank you Saturn. And thank you Dak. Another banger.

"It seems like trouble just follows the Roci around" To quote Miller the first time he sees Holden in S1, "James Holden.... shit just follows you around, don't it kid?" On your comment about everyone hates the Belters, I would say it's sort of the opposite. Earth and Mars are indifferent to the Belters, but the Belters actively hate Earth and Mars. Look at how much of their thoughts and time are devoted to hating on them. Furthermore, compare the way Earthers and Martians talk to, behave towards, and think about Belters vs how Belters do to the Inners. A perfect example, just look at episode one, the Rocinante crew shows up, and the Belters immediately start harassing them, ganging up on them, and they even pull their weapons and threaten violence. Over what? Absolutely nothing. Their hatred completely blinds their reasoning. It's a good thing people like Fred Johnson, Ashford, and Drummer are in positions of power, otherwise the Belters would be doomed.

A builder episode this laying foundations for things to come . I love how kick ass the women are in this show Naomi is fantastic , Bobbie is fantastic I loved her eff this wham proceeds to pummel faces lol just brilliant , really enjoyed her scene with chrisjen I agree with you dak I feel we havnt heard the last of this . And ofc we have drummer being the awesome character she is 🔥 . I really want Amos to sock that guy in the face , can't help but think he was waiting for any excuse to shoot someone what a knob . Cheers for another belter dak this was as always great

Beat Conductor

Not to mention when belters spaced all those ganymede refugees just because they were inners.

DakaraJayne

Yeah you make great points here tbh... I think for me, I mean more from the angle of - Belters have the reputation for being pests and aggressive people (because of the acts you speak of), so typically all Belters have a bad rep BUT, you look at Drummer and the like and they're extremely fierce, powerful and intelligent people and have to work even harder to prove themselves than that of an Earther or a Martian. Luckily they stand strong and keep up the good fight, like Drummer said in this episode, they just have to work harder to convince the others <3
