Hello All!

What a superhero! I loved the message within this episode and of course in true Fringe fashion how the side plot linked to the main plot of the show too. Some brilliantly emotional moments in this episode and bravery and strength too! Loved it. River, your Dad's a Superhero and I'm sure you respect him for this act of selflessness.

Much love

Dakara x

Regarding the comic books the kid was drawing, there are actually are a series of comic books of Fringe, I have them somewhere in pdf, I will look for them and send them to you. There are no fill-in episodes in season 5. All episodes are extremely relevant to the main storyline.

“There is a time for recording history and a time for making it” What a great concept for an episode, a group of people that exist only to record the history of humanity so that it doesn’t get destroyed (as it always does) from their oppressors. I know i’ve said it every episode this season but i dom’t care i’ll say it again, this season is absolutely unmatched when it comes to character work and think the main reason has to be the reduced number of episode, which allowed the writers to really pack each one with massive amounts of meaningful conversations and introspection. I love the mini journey they have Olivia go through this episode, starting with the first scene in the forest with Etta where her daughter tells her just ho much she admires her you can see at that moment in her eyes that she feels ashamed and she carries that until Peter figures it out and gets her to talk. Olivia always breaks my heart but in this episode she especially does, it’s so sad that she feels shame towards Etta because she feel like was partly her fault, so much was taken from her in her life that once she is given something so pure she felt like she didn’t deserve her, what a tragedy, Peter is amazing in this scene, fist he lets her vent because he knows she needs it and comes in and reassures her, god this two are so good no matter the state of their relationship 🥰. The show has always had an interested in exploring parenthood in its many forms and how much that affects a person and their choices but this season especially leans heavily on the subject and makes and absolute focal point that becomes more and more evident as a the season progresses. I cannot tell you how much i love the the Fringe team in this future has become this almost mythological group of people that tried to save the world, it’s such a cool concept especially coming from four season where they tried to shield the public from their existence, such a great reversal of perspective. The side quest of the week also ties in heavily with the theme of parenthood and wanting to create a better future for your children and it played out beautifully with a tragic but inspiring ending that gives even more stakes for our team. One of the things that always puts a smile with this episode is that shot of Walter, Peter, Olivia and Etta when they get out of the van and start going in the forest, they just look so good all of them side by side, the Bishops ❤️❤️. Don’t worry Dak this season doesn’t have filler episode, it’s all action and reaction, every episode matter and will leave and impact, speaking of that episode 4 tomorrow….. 🥲 oh boy that is all i’ll say, really can’t wait to hear your opinion on that one and see what the people in the comment also have to say, it’s going to be interesting for sure… P.S. The comics of the Fringe team are super cool and the one frame of Olivia holding baby Etta always breaks my heart 💔.

What makes this episode different than most is that it managed to make us emotional over one-time characters we don't even know. Usually we get the touchy-feelies from Walter, Astrid or Olivia. There's also the important lesson I learned from this episode that I often think of: Not being afraid isn't brave. The brave man and the coward are both afraid. The coward is the one who gives up. The brave man pushes on.

In my opinion the whole plot device of the tapes is a stroke of genius on the part of the writers. It adds a mystery within this season that is very compelling. It's not simply "oh we know the plan and then let's drag out the resolution or lack thereof for 13 episodes." It's us figuring out this plan as the season goes on in slow increments and I actually think that's far more interesting and compelling. Plus Walter little idiosyncrasies or walter-isms, as you could call it, in the tapes leads so some great comedy lol
