Hello All!

This one was very surprising to me. Roslin (unsure on spelling sorry) really caught me off guard with her response to the cylon, might just be me but I expected her to be more to the point rather than use lies to get what she wants. It is a Cylon though so I now know her views on them, more so than I did before. Was a telling episode, even with Starbuck, surprised me her response to Leoben. I wonder if they will find their way to Earth?!

Much love

This is another episode that really just goes "Hey, you know we can get darker with this, right?" and then bam, we're torturing a prisoner and chucking him out of an airlock. Makes you wonder if there's a space geneva convention for the humans. And Roslin. Whew. She's already shown us that she can be tough up to this point (getting Adama to run in the miniseries, the Olympic Carrier, etc), but I've always got the vibe that it comes from a place of love and empathy - like a school teacher (which makes sense for the former secretary of education :D). Then she just straight up lies to the cylon's face, and I think it was a big shock for me as well to see her be so cold. Let me tell you, debates were BIG in my friend group when we were watching this show for the first time. Still love her though. Roslin can throw me out an airlock any day.

There's a saying, I'm don't know the origin, "Form follows function, function defines form.". For instance, a knife will always be a blade with a handle. That's the form it takes, because of the function it serves. The same could be true of the human form Cylons. They look and act very much like humans; it follows that they would begin to behave like humans. They might have a moment of existential clarity where they would rebel against their base programming. At least that looks like what might be going on with the Sharon on Caprica. Back on the fleet; Sharon is worried that she may be a Cylon. The how of this is easy to understand. As a machine, her "Hard drive" would simply be partitioned for multiple users. Sharon would have access to those routines that she would need though out the day. The Cylon programming would lay dormant, until it was activated, most likely remotely. That would explain the President, and Baltar, getting visions. The Cylons are simply accessing their minds. And yes that IS a scary thought. That the Cylon knew who Starbuck was is easy. Her capture of a Cylon raider would have been buzzing all over the fleet. As for the personal info, he would have access to her complete file from Caprica. She was told that the Cylon would try to get into her head, and it did. Rosyln demonstrated a level of cunning and ruthlessness. The Cylon tried to get into her head as well when he told her that Adama was a Cylon, but probably wasn't successful. I mean his goal was to cause doubt and confusion.

Wooo weee! This is a good one. And you are 100% correct to be confused. Its on purpose, lol. The show does not want us to know who or what to trust. Adama says to not trust Leoben, Leoben says Adama is a cylon. For Boomer (on Galactica): She is a cylon who thinks she is human but also has a program running in the background to switch her to cylon when required (this is confirmed when she planted the bombs in the water tank). So how much of her wanting the Chief back is the human part's feelings about him, and how much is the cylon part influencing it to get her ally and cover back? Leoben says a lot. Period. But how much of it does he actually believe and how much is he saying to try and manipulate people? I love the philosophical and moral debates this show makes. Very intriguing, is it not? And don't worry, the confusion and paranoia are part of the fun.

I was never sure if Roslin (& Laura is her 1st name, I believe. They haven't had many people call her that) was always planning to space Leoben, 'cause she did seem sincere and empathetic, but she changed and seemed shook when he said that about Adama. Seemed she was like, "OK, he's being manipulative when I was trying to reach out, so frak him."

I liked Boomer a lot when I first started watching the show. With "Boomer" I mean the one on Galactica, the one with Helo is mostly referred to as "Sharon" if I remember correctly. It is stated in the miniseries that the Cylons planted sleeper agents everywhere, in the military, politics, the fleet etc., and that some of them don’t even know that they are Cylons. Boomer doesn’t know. She has all these memories of her past, she’s loved by her peers and the chief, I think she worked on the Galactica for about 2 years prior to the attack (just as Caprica Six worked with Gaius for that amount of time). She has had no reason to think that she might be a machine. Therefore, it is extremely hard for her to fathom the possibility of her being a sleeper agent who might turn against her friends and family at any time (against her will!). This is more than an identity crisis, this is a “am I even human” crisis. She is struggling hard with that, which makes her reaction to the chief (when he broke up with her) more understandable. She’s just extremely lost and scared and has now lost the one person she could always count on as well. At least that’s my interpretation.
