Hello All!

New season is upon us! Mulder has been saved!!! Scully isn't aware yet though, thats fun... She is slightly distracted though by picking up the pieces of disaster left behind from S2! Skinner is now in possession of the tape and Scully has no trust/belief in what he's saying! It's all going on guys!

First, bless you. That time of year for everyone. I've made myself familiar with much of the lore held by the native peoples, but the only thing I know about this blessing way is the name. I loved the description of what someone goes through. Great side story. The main story was very much a cat and mouse between Scully and the forces arranged against her. Gives me "North by Northwest" vibes. Scully doesn't know who to trust, and with her sister being shot, I'm not sure that she'll trust anyone. Mulder's mom may have "known" what her husband did, but like a good wife of the 40's or 50's, would have tried to distance herself from it. Not a spoiler, but I'll bet everything that Mulder is the one at the door at the end. It would make sense. If he shows up, alive and well, they would have to scamper back into the shadows.

This episode should have been titled "From Death's Door". So much death from the frying of a few dozen Aliens (or were they?), to Mulder being on the precipice of death, to Scully threatening Skinner's life, and believing Mulder is dead. The funeral scene for Mulder's father, and then Scully's sister getting killed (?), by this increasingly despicable Krycheck. It's truly a tumultuous time for our intrepid investigators.

Ok Dakara lets start at the end again 'TO BE CONTINUED'. Well now you know it is a three parter. The finale of S2 Anasazi, along with this episode The Blessing Way and the next one were issued as a complete movie called The Unopened File. Anasazi aired in UK August 1995, S3 did not start on terrestrial tv in UK until Autumn 1996. I pre-ordered the VHS Home Video of the three parter which was issued in January 1996. There was no way I could wait 8 or 9 months to see what happened. The VHS video was specially edited to flow like a complete film across the three episodes. Here we see Scully having to hand in her gun and badge in total suspension, Frohike arrives after hearing Mulder is dead. Great confrontation with Skinner and Scully. Scully keeps setting off the security scanner and the Doctor takes in out, some kind of microchip. Scully's sister annoys Scully with her insistence on therapy. The Native Americans who find Mulder save his life. Skinner has CSM on his back the whole time. When Scully is approached by the man at the funeral he tells her she will be murdered. When Mulder appears to his mother he asks her about the pic, she is obviously holding back. Scully now distrusts Skinner as she points gun to his head, accusing him of being an errand boy. Missy unfortunately gets mistaken for Scully and is shot. Skinner tells her he has the digital tape containing the secret files. This episode leads brilliantly in to the next one to close out this story. A terrific atmospheric cliffhanger episode leaving us wanting more. Great reaction again.

Almost feel sorry for Skinner at this point. The last 3 episodes have seen him take a beating from Mulder’s contact, get another hiding off Mulder himself and now Scully pulls a gun on him. He’s not getting paid enough. Scully & Mully prevail.
