Hello All!

A very strange black market Organ gamble sesh in this episode! Mulder was on it as usual and knew what was going on straight away. Scully still trying to find the science of things. Familiar faces as always, some that NEVER age!

Much love

Loved this episode. The exposition where the culture and mythology are revealed was a highlight for me. The Chinese will bet on just about anything. The organ harvesting is a real thing. Human organs can command a very high price on the black market. I felt sorry for the Detective. He did a very good job of conveying the difficulties of being an outsider in both worlds. I say both world because having a shield makes him an outsider in the Asian community, but being an Asian makes him an outsider to many Americans. Yes that was a young Lucy Liu as the daughter.

To me, this episode is "The One With Lucy Liu, James Hong, and BD Wong." Incredible number of recognizable actors for such an okay episode.

Love that one. Thanks.

This episode is basically: “People will do anything for cash or family,” which immediately made me think, “Ah yes, American healthcare — the original horror franchise.” As teenagers living in El Paso, TX, we used to cross the border to party, drink, and act like adults at the dance clubs in Juarez. I remember one of the cautionary urban myths that we would hear was to be careful of what you drink. You might be drugged and taken away, only to wake up in a bathtub missing a kidney. This was a decent episode with an extensive cast. The guy you recognize is James Hong, who's been acting since the 50s. I remember the first time I noticed him was in an Eddie Murphy movie called The Golden Child. And that was Lucy Liu and BD Wong, who was in Jurassic Park and the TV show Law and Order for decades.

Pretty lame episode IMO.

Man. I remember the days where it was a Chinese holiday and how my chinese friend's mom would carve out an incredible feast! Yum. Loved the reaction!

This one noted of course for appearances by famous Chinese American actors BD Wong and Lucy Liu, who of course was in the movie version of Charlie's Angels and Kill Bill, but was probably most famous for a long running part in the quirky Ally McBeal tv series, where she played Ling Woo, possibly one of the most irritating characters in TV Shows ever! A strange and disturbing episode, not that highly rated by some X-Files fans, but very much a typical X-Files episode. A reflection on how unfair life is in general. The exploitation of the poor is always there, and this episode shows this and how it manifests itself, it is still true to today. A very interesting thing about this episode is that David Duchovny was apparently actually going out with Lucy Liu at the time they filmed this.
