Hello All!

9 mins of time missing!! Mulder knows something went down during that time BUT how will they ever know for sure what happened?!! It's getting so goood! I truly hope Scully is okay, seeing the nose bleed rocked me a lil but reminded me how lovely Skinner is behind that gruff haha.

The government isn't afraid of a mass panic, that's something that they could deal with. What they're really afraid of is the opposite reaction, which would be nothing. People would stop trying to solve problems and wait for the "visitors" to give us all the answers. Not that our government wouldn't want us to have the answers, just that we should find them on our own. That WE should control our common destiny. I liked Scully's speech at the end, it was very profound and inspirational. Nearly as much as I liked Mulder saying that he just thought that the key ring was nice.😄 You could almost hear Scully's eye roll.

Another brilliant episode following on from Tempus Fugit. Scully obviously so upset about Pendrell's needless death, and a great scene when she says to Mulder 'what are these people dying for, the truth or the lies'. I thought the scene on the plane when Mulder is explaining to Millar what happened and we see Max abducted was great, the panic of the passengers like the scene from Final Destination (yes we know that was originally written for the X-Files called Flight 180). Also when Mulder picks up Max's bag and brings it on his flight we have that Tom Selleck lookalike, Garrett, and once he has the bag the Aliens want it back. Mulder again knows what will happen and the 9 minutes are lost again. Perhaps the most poignant scene is when Scully says to Mulder at the end about Pendrell 'I didn't even know his first name'. Surprised Dakara you didn't recognise Max Fenig from S1 Fallen Angel in your last reaction. Great to see you enjoying this show so much.

Scully's speech (chef's kiss) to me means that, as humans, we can show humility through achievement and discovery; in essence, science. It is such a perfect message to all of us, IMHO. Faith and humility need not be only religious or spiritual, it can be empirical. Mulder's flight interception was the way Max's flight should've gone. Though this time the aliens kept the MIB when they were going to return Max. I think Mike (the NTSB agent) was just being realistic: even if he believed the story Mulder and Scully told him, no one in a position of importance or power would've believed him. I think that's why he didn't mention the UFO sighting he experienced, but im not sure they left that open to interpretation. Great reaction.

It could also be that the guy honestly didn't recall seeing the UFO. I mean, everyone at the immediate sites of these abductions/returns seems to have their memories wiped. Could be the case with him as well.

I think for the sake of your sanity, it's probably for the better that Mulder injected some humor to break up the emotions Scully's speech at the end were eliciting. Imagine if he'd gone in for a hug or said something equally nice. You'd be dead.

Yes, it's one of those things that the show leaves up to interpretation. I would like to think that Mike saw it, but he knows it would ruin his career if he made this assertion. Which makes Mulder's belief seem more principled, because he doesn't care being critisized about his belief. People of principle are rare, like Mulder. Mike is like most: protect myself and my paycheck; Mulder is willing to sacrifice himself for the truth. That's why I chose to believe that.
