Gethsemane and Redux were brilliant, but Redux II is just off the charts. Now we know how Mulder was able to fake his death by killing the D.O.D. man who was doing the surveillance on his flat, and that Scully now in hospital with a serious condition after passing out at the hearing needs urgent help. We have Scully's brother Bill again blaming Mulder for everything, and The Elder now losing patience with CS Man and how he has been acting. When CSM offers Mulder the deal to come and work for him it is almost surreal, as how could he do that knowing that he was involved with the death of his father, an affair with his mother, the death of Scully's sister, and the abduction of Samantha. One of the most jaw dropping scenes in the show is when CSM arrives with what is possibly the real Samantha, and she refers to him as father. Mulder has been tortured over her disappearance, and is this real or not, and is CSM her real father and his too!. Blevins wants Mulder to incriminate Skinner and we are led down this path, but while all this is going on The Lone Gunmen discover it is more than deionised water in the vial. The chip it seems is the key to a cure for the illness, so even her Doctor is open to using it as it seem the only hope. Scully's brother of course is as usual and doesn't want it. When the hearing starts Mulder bursts in and we have just brilliant dramatic scenes with the camera jumping around all the faces with Mulder saying he will name the person an it's Blevins. When Blevins does escape to his office The Syndicate know he is no longer useful and kill shoot him and try and fake a suicide. At the same time CM is also shot. Skinner telling Mulder CM is dead, but non of us believe this, but he hands Mulder the photo of them as children which was found at the scene. A great relief when Mulder tells Skinner the cancer is in remission. Interestingly even though Chris Carter is given the writing credit here, Tim Minear was a major writer on this episode, as Buffyverse fans will know he was one the the very best Writers, Directors and Producers on the Angel TV series involved in the very best episodes. Got to make a mention too of the great comedy when Mulder says to CsM at the the hospital 'Please tell me you're here with severe chest pains'.

This episode really drained you. Don't ever apologize for getting emotional, it's part of who you are. Mulder storming down the corridors of the hospital looking for Scully, I honestly think the only thing that might have stopped him was a tank! You can see that he does blame himself for her condition, and wants to make it go away. Don't be to hard on her brother. I'm an older brother, and if it were my sister lying there I'd feel pretty hostile toward Mulder too. That the Smoking man was Samantha's father came right out of nowhere. It does make sense, sort of, more sense than his being Mulder's father, but I'm not entirely convinced. Skinner was not the mole, and Mulder proved it! The look of pure, overwhelming joy on your face when Mulder said that Scully's cancer was in full remission, it looked like you wanted to dance! If you had, I would've approved.

This reaction was sooooo good! Especially loved your outro discussion. Makes me happy seeing you so invested in everything that's been revealed with the promise of all to come. Your energy really came through the screen. You made a comment about Mudler being pure in his pursuit of things. And in a way, that also makes him more endearing to Scully, because what is science other than the unadulterated quest for answers to emperical questions? This season is generational TV. Trust me. Exiting times!

Fantastic three-part story. The mythology episodes are always just amped-up to the next-level, so much at stake for Mulder and Scully.

Your reactions are so good that I don’t want them to ever end.

That means a lot, appreciate that. Thanks Jason!
