I love every season more than the last and Jack is one of my favourites. He transforms Castiel's life and a perfect example of how even someone who seems destined to be evil can be utterly good. I agree so much about Lucifer. He and Becky are the only two characters I consider beyond redemption. The change in Rowena is wonderful. 300 years of self-interest and then she ends up siding with the Winchesters to save the world, more than once.

rue

Dude, Rowena and Sam's relationship... I just-- The fact that all it took was someone with the deepest well of empathy to actually relate and hear her out??

Helen Wood

I think you're absolutely right, The embittered tanner's daughter found a sincere friend for the first time and it changed her, just as Cas was the first person to relate to Meg as if she mattered, with the same result. It would be interesting to count up how many people Sam changed, just by showing them some kindness.

Amye Sabin

You mentioned that Dean hated Jack at the beginning of this season. That was S13, not this season.
I remember when OG Death said he would eventually reap God. I wonder if that applies now to Billie as Death, or if it was the OG Death? Personally I don't like where the writers took God/Chuck, but I do understand that it makes sense for God to be the ultimate big bad of the final season. There is still one player other than Amara or Jack on the board that can help with . But I'll let it come to you.

I love S14. It's probably my favorite of S12-15. I hate that so much focus is on Jack, because I hate that some fans fawn over him, and I feel that Sam especially, got lost in the shuffle - other than the beginning. However, I do love the later episodes that deal with Jack's lack of soul. I also hate that Cas sold his future happiness to the Empty for Jack. IMO Cas is more important than Jack.

To me, Rowena's love for the boys replaces the love she realized she had for Crowley, and they've become her boys now.
See I loved the Gorgon. He was a great actor and charismatic. I did love that Jack killed him, tho. I think Jack needed that win. But you're right, the individual monster storylines were weak this season, but not like S6, which I thought were weaker.

Amye Sabin

I think he makes Cas weaker. Cas used to be a bad ass, but now he mopes around giving fatherly advice and not much else. And it makes me sad that Cas has turned into this sad sack.

Helen Wood

No, he just makes Cas more three dimensional and, being both celestial and human, he gives Cas a deeper understanding and broader perspective on both.

Hasnaa

I can never relate to describing fatherhood & human emotions as weakness, i think cas & jack's relationship is the best father & son relationship in the whole show, certainly beats john with his kids

Hasnaa

Also cas was so badass in the milkshake episode, he hasn't lost a thing

Helen Wood

I agree with you completely.

Helen Wood

Yes, Cas has only become more magnificent and it's interesting that he is strong enough in that episode to use acknowledgement of his own mistakes to get through to Sam.

Hasnaa

I agree with almost everything u said (almost coz i adored the demi god & the milkshake episodes), i really love that u r a dean girl that loves sam, cas & jack which strangely is so rare, i love that u always try to see things from all characters POV, it's my favorite thing about your end of season discussion, in respect to chuck there were signs from the moment we met him that he wasn't the best guy, i can't wait till u finish the show & rewatch knowing what u know now & noticing all the signs 🥺😍, great video, Dakara, stay U

Hannah

this season was a good one in my opinion, when it was the wait between s14 and 15 i was freaking out over cas' future with the empty deal and how on earth jack would escape the empty. you have some heavy hitting episodes of course as a final season my faves are ep 3,8,9,18. can't wait to see those reactions

Amye Sabin

I completely disagree, but I guess we see things through different glasses. Alot of fans were dismayed by the lack of sheet power & how milquetoast Cas has become.

Josee (Griffe)

I'm glad that you like doing those end of season discussions because I love them too. (And not just because I agree with you on most points! 😇). I particularly appreciated that you praised the actress playing Micheal. Good job on her and the casting director: she did nailed the power aspect of the character. I find season 14 to be very enjoyable, but not as tear-jerking as other seasons. Some episodes were very emotionnaly intense, but more like a punch in the gut than a pull to the heartstrings for me. All the serial killer stuff with Nick made me particularly uneasy, and episodes Jack in the Box and Moriah brought stress and genuine fear for the brothers. I was gutted that Chuck turned out to be a villain. I love Rob Benedict so much from what I see of him in conventions and interviews that I expected God to keep those quirky qualities we first saw in Chuck the Prophet that basically come directly from Rob. I am excited to rewatched the last season with you, see it thru your eyes and gain perspective on it since, as dor season 14, I only saw each episode once.

Susan Sebert

I enjoyed season 14, and you might as well give up trying the predict season 15, no way to guess what will happen. One of my favorite episodes is "Profit & Loss", and the one where Dean went on his good-bye tour, leaving Sam in the bunker without saying anything to him, but just giving him that hug I knew what he had planned. So glad that Sam knew something was wrong. Nick taking Mary was a little worrisome. Michael/Dean was tough. He was so arrogant, but what would you expect from the most powerful being on earth. Jensen played him so well. I do agree that the woman who played Michael was very good but just not as threatening as Jensen. When he was back in the bunker and he told Sam that the last thing he would see is "this pretty smile", so evil. Glad that Sam and Cas were able to help lock Michael up in Dean's mind, but that must have been so painful having all the pounding non-stop. It's hard to remember all the episodes, but the 300th episode was very emotional. Was happy that Sam finally got some closure with his dad and that John apologized to him. Buckle up it's going to be a bumpy ride in season 15. Gotta go before I let something slip. I will say this because it won't ruin anything. The DVD for season 15 has some of the best cast interviews and behind the scenes stuff (if you don't already have it, you should definitely get it).

Hasnaa

I also love sister jo's character, she's so smart, she figured out chuck isn't gonna help so she decided to help while also making a life for herself on earth, whatever people pay her to be healed, i am sure a hospital would charge much more & not give nearly the same quality, she wasn't a fool like our earth's michael who had blind faith in his dad, she was able to think for herself, not just follow orders & part of her genuinely wanted to help people while also being lonely

rose mnor

Ah yes, 3, 9, and 18, the hard-hitting trifecta of Bobo Berens episodes. With the surprising appearance of Bucklemming episode 8, a once-in-a-while above than the average one. Good choices, those episodes. Prepare the tissues, everyone ....

Helen Wood

I think we are watching very different shows. Even at his weakest, Cas is one of the strongest characters. Caring for a son does not make someone less strong.

Gina St Phillips

I enjoyed Sister Jo. She is complicated. She said she was a low level functionary when the angels fell, but then this season we found out she was Joshua's right hand at some point. She has a mercenary streak and enjoys being a businesswoman and all the human luxuries. She is clever. She managed to save herself from being killed by Lucifer just by making a good argument. She had style and sass. Cool character, yep. As for the way they bring people back, I think it boils down to a combination of fan service and self-serving enjoyment, but also budget. They can't have the entire cast in every episode or they wouldn't be able to afford it. That is one reason why Cas disappears for extended periods of time, too. Frustrating, but true. If he isn't integral to a particular storyline, just having him there because he's there is not cost effective. Bobby wasn't even in French Mistake, and they started off and ended the episode in his living room. In that case they wrote it off as Bobby gone on a hunt or supply run or something. Anyway, I enjoy trying to reason out why they do things from the production side, since a lot of decisions are made that way. Overall, I think they do a great job with it. Season 14 as a whole was well done. I think I was too traumatized by the announcement that the end was near to appreciate it as much as I should have at the time, but in retrospect it was a solid season. But I'm easy to please. I absolutely loved season seven, so my opinion has no meaning, lol

Amelya Lahna

The female actress that plays Michael is in Teen Wolf ! She is a great vilain in there too ! 😉 Sorry, I had to mention it ... 😂

Toasted Toad

There are some things I really love about Season 14, and some that I think are weaker. But I always love hearing your thoughts on them, and I'm excited to watch all the way to the end with you! Michael!Dean, (at least in his second appearance when he re-possesses Dean) I thought was a lot of fun. I think that that's when Jensen really god a hold of the part. As far as the argument Sam makes about Dean never considering killing him when he lost his soul vs Jack, I've always thought it a very weak one. Dean had known Sam his entire life - at the time, nearly 30 years. He knew Sam's soul to the core and knew he was worth saving. He has nowhere near the same certainty about Jack. Plus, maybe more importantly, Jack is on a whole different level of power regarding the damage he can do when soulless. Sam was just human, Jack was possibly the most powerful being on the planet. Dean had a lot of doubts when Jack first appeared - he was focussed on the danger Jack represented to the world, whereas Sam focussed on the possibility of him being a good 'person'. But hasn't Dean been shown to be at least partially justified? Jack ended up killing their mother. And torturing Nick at least briefly before killing him. Who knows how far off the rails he could have gone? I have never been a Jack fan. I don't mind him, but wouldn't miss him if he was gone either. Mary grew on me eventually, but I could never forgive her for abandoning her sons. Dean lashing out at Cas with mis-placed anger was really sad. But I noticed that despite Dean's declaration that Cas was dead to him, he didn't ask Cas to leave. I love Rob, so was a bit upset at the turn God took. However, I thought it a really interesting way to go with the writing. After all, there are some questions about God that are very difficult to answer, things he has done that are difficult to justify. I really loved the Nick plot (although the justification for bringing him back in the first place was nonsense). We had assumed that it was only Nick's possession by Lucifer that made him a villain. The idea that he was simply a killer was one I really enjoyed.
