Have been dying for you to reach this episode! Unfortunately I can't watch until later, but that Purgatory scene is something else!

Brenda Lewis

One of the best of the season for me. Dean breaking down and finally admitting he was wrong was so important. He's right, it's what he always does this lashing out with anger when he's been hurt. But then he did the other thing he always does which is forgive and apologize to the people he loves. It gets me every time he says "I forgive you, of course I forgive you". As for Sam, as soon as Eileen came back I knew he was in love with her and I and totally here for that. I've shipped them since they first met. I was rather unhappy at first when Chuck was made the villain, but how else was this story going to end I think. The biggest bad of all. I don't know what their going to do, but Team Free Will is together again and I am so happy for that. And now Jack is with Billie, I've got some hope.

anu eas

chuck destroyed the ball after he was free from sam.the ball/mark thing only works if the entity that is chuck or amara is weak.when they locked amara up she was weakened by the archangels b4 chuck locked her away.So ball smashing after chuck was at full power wouldn't work.

Purple Nurple

Also I doubt the person who is getting locked away will be able to smash it to lock themselves away. It might have to be another person. He also crushed it as oppose to smashing? Is there a difference in that? lol

Purple Nurple

I've been waiting for this episode. Love that little scene in purgatory. Dean admitting how he feels and recognising his anger is a big step for him. I've been hit right in the feels with that scene.

rue

Ah, yiss!!! Cas grew his balls back! I love when he refuses to take Dean's shit, and oof, it felt a lil rushed. Kinda wish they gave both situations more than one episode. Also: "That's good enough for me." <-- CHARACTER GROWTH THO

Luis Nov

Oh yes! This episode!! For started the reveal of Chuck being the responsable of Eileen comeback offf Then the reveal of that Sam’s “nightmares” are actually Chuck’s memories and all of those scene actually “happened” it was amazing!! My Saileen shipper heart 😭💔 The little scene with the four of them chilling and going for a movie night its a concept I can die with I loveeee how Cas called Dean out, he had really good points all around the episode. Them in purgatory is a concept so personal to me 😭❤️ it takes me back to S8 when Dean admits that it felt pure, being down there and then purgatory being the place where he comes clean with Cas was amazingly done specially that prayer scene Jensen, what an amazingly talented man, that scene where he says that he buried Cas my god, chills! Every damn time!! And him taking a knee to pray to Cas, just give him every award available, I wish Cas would have let him speak 😭🤧 If you had any doubt about what Chuck shown to Sam, that scene when Cas is planning on taking the mark pretty much confirms it Sam couldn’t smash it because of all the things he saw and Eileen couldn’t stay because she felt like everything was manipulation. And finally, Jack showing up at the end when Dean say “we found another way” CHILLS! About smashing the ball, it didnt had to be Sam or Dean, the only one who couldn’t was Cas, but Chuck didn’t smash it perse, he destroyed it, not much difference but it is what it is 😅 Loved your breakdown at the end and Im sorry for writing this much, but a lot happened this episode 😅 see you in the next one 🙌🏻

Brandon

Jack!!!!!! xD “We’ll find another way….” I wonder what Billie and Jack could actually do, I know Chuck was scared of Jack and what he could become, but it’ll be interesting to see why he was actually scared of him. I also hope Jack takes him down (I don’t mean death, just in some capacity) as revenge for Chuck smiting him

anu eas

u may be onto something

We kinda saw what the world would look like without chuck in season 11 when amara weakened him severally & almost killed him, the sun started dying & darkness was everywhere, when light loses darkness wins, the world needs balance, darkness & light, amara & chuck, that's why killing or trapping chuck isn't good for the world, that's why monsters start winning, that's why sam believed chuck, i believe him too. Dean's prayer to cas gets me everytime, the way he wanted to repeat all of it face to face & maybe even say something more if it wasn't for cas stopping him 😭, the way we see (yet again) in the future chuck showed sam that dean completely loses faith & hope coz he lost cas, he had to bury him alive in the Malik box, not we, he, i can't even imagine the pain, that's why sam believed chuck, he knows how dean gets when losing cas, he gives up, in that future dean loses cas & sam loses eileen, another destiel parallel to a canon romance, i lost count of those, poor sam & eileen 😭, i wish we could've seen benny

ElysiaFields19

Finally you see this episode! I've been taping my hands to the chair so I wouldn't spoil this, lol! This episode ripped me apart and confirmed that the writers were free to do anything; that the end could possibly destroy me. From here on I felt a vulnerability I had never known throughout all the years I had devoted to Supernatural. I loved that Case took the reins here. He's had enough. I also believe he took a stand in order to snap Dean out of doing what he has always done, putting Sam first, and losing their limited opportunity to beat Chuck. Their entire dialogue in Purgatory is burned in this fangirl's brain. Dean's prayer broke me. Well Jensen's delivery broke me for sure. Damn that man can act!! But WHY didn't Cas let Dean say what he was going to? That's the scene I really wanted to see. As for Cas looking different, pretty sure this was when Misha first returned from his hip replacement surgery. (Personal note* Misha lives about 20 minutes away from me. Is that crazy?!) Seeing Sam lose hope, going back and forth in my mind about that watch being purely manipulation or not? So devastating. I hated it. But is there anything worse after watching the brother's endless fight against evil over 14 seasons than to see them end as monsters? Seeing that possibility was horrible. At that moment I felt like the writers were doing to me, what Chuck was doing to Sam and Dean and Cas. And Dean's voice when he said he had buried Cas bearing the Mark in the Malik box? What!!! I think my mind melted a little during this episode. I can understand how Eileen felt she had to have space after everything Chuck revealed but there I was, shattered again; watching that kiss and hearing the bunker door slam closed behind her. And when Sam faced Dean and Cas telling them he believed what he saw and Dean said that was enough for him to accept it as real... That faith in Sam was evident in Dean like a glowing beacon. The ball of hope is clearly in Dean's court now. And he doesn't know it yet - but that hope just might be Jack! Cannot wait for Team Free Will to see Jack again. And where does Billie come to play in all this? Can you believe all this happened in ONE episode? Dakara, I can't handle waiting another week for what happens next and your reactions but it is so bittersweet also knowing this is all going to end much too soon.😭

PongPong31

By the time Chuck picked up the ball, he was already back to full power. So it had no effect on him. Like for instance, even if Dean or someone random were to get to the ball first and smash it, nothing would have happened. It was only meant to work if he was severely weakened. Like Michael mentioned, "If he is as weak as you say...."

AdoptDontShopPets

Loved Purgatory scenes and Cas and Dean’s reunion. Thank goodness that after 15x3 aired, Jensen gave a little spoiler at a convention that Dean would pray to Cas in 15x09 and help get them back on track. Season 15 was hard enough just knowing the show was ending, so I was thankful that Jensen didn’t leave us wondering if their rift would ever be repaired. Six episodes was a long time. I have no idea why Cas didn’t notice the Angel trap and since when did such a thing exist? They always had to use holy oil before. Love them creating new rules in season 15 🤦🏻‍♀️ (someone please correct me if we have seen it before). At first I didn’t like that “losing hope” breaks the bond between Chuck and Sam. I guess because Sam is then weaker that Chuck can break the bond and regain full power? I guess it works. Really hated that in Chuck’s version of the future without him is that Cas would go in the box, Sam and Dean would have died as vampires…Dean to kill Jody, Bobby killed Sam…unclear if Bobby got Dean but I assume so. Don’t know if you noticed that the date they turned to vamps was Nov 3 2021. Of course that was originally supposed to be after the show had ended, but because of the pandemic production delays, that date was just before episode 15x18. And in the vision, their death date is Dec 9, 2022. Technically those dates don’t mean anything but it just feels weird and I know will be a day to mourn the show being over. I had been worried for years they would bring the Cain and Abel story into the series. I really did not like Chuck talking about that kind of ending. I did love Dean telling him there is no way it would happen. I prayed that would stay true.

Gina St Phillips

I think the only reason Cas couldn't destroy the sphere was because he was going to taking the mark when it was destroyed. My assumption is that Chuck didn't break it, he undid it. So we are meant to think, Sam now believes, and Dean trusts Sam, that if there is no Chuck, the monsters win. Ugh!

Ashley

So glad that Cas stuck up for himself this episode. And Dean apologized for being an a-hole(sorry but he was). I get why he had those emotions...but he was still being an a-hole IMO. It was a pretty big deal for him to apologize and acknowledge some of his flaws. I also love that Cas just let it be and didn't need to hear what Dean said face to face. Like he knew how big a deal it was for Dean to say it at all. Dean did some self reflection in this one and it was awesome to see.

Josee (Griffe)

I'm just wondering... In 2022, were Sam and Dean turned into Micheal's type of vampires? Because otherwise, it doesn't make any sense since they know the cure and they have enough will power to not drink human blood until they get their sire(s).

Susan Sebert

Sad episode. Chuck making Eileen torture Sam and then killing his hope. Glad that Dean finally apologized to Cas, even if it was in a prayer, a little self realization was good to hear. Don't want to say anything else since I don't want to spoil anything for you.

JoDaNa81

Nov. 3, 2020 was just before 15x18.

AdoptDontShopPets

Lol I don’t even know what year it is anymore 😂

Michele

This episode was tough for me, because of what Chuck was doing. I hated it! Plus, those previews of the future weren't actually previews. But, before I knew that, the one where they became vampires had me going "What?!". They know the cure, which they would have used. And even if they didn't get cured, they'd not have let themselves continue like that. I guess we're supposed to think they couldn't help themselves. I don't like that. I really don't like the idea that Chuck can manipulate things that much. So much that Eilene seems to have no free will and is lie a puppet for him. argh! Glad that Dan and Cas made up. I still think Dean was totally valid in his anger. It had only been a few days since his mom died when they had their tiff in the bunker, for crying out loud! And Cas knows Dean. Knows how he is. Dean was angry, but he would have listened. His body language even said so. He was waiting for Cas to confront him. You need to be solid with Dean and not just give up and back down. Cas knows that. That's what Cas did in this episode. And Dean listens when you do that. Dean's not stupid, he just needs people who are not wishy washy around him, because someone has to lead.

Adam Carlson

I'm already very smart and very poor. Hard to imagine the opposite.

Amye Sabin

But they have to get the cure from the vamp that turned them. Maybe they couldn't find him/her. Also, we saw how close Dean came to feeding in S6, and Gordon did with no problem in S3 (?), so will power only goes so far if you're starving.

DakaraJayne

Couldn’t agree more, was right there with you - I needed that scene so bad! So many key points in this one episode and I loved it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Brenda, appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment 💙

DakaraJayne

Ahhh I see! Thanks so much Anu and Sharon, makes sense now.

Toasted Toad

Cas did not need to let Dean speak. He had already heard what Dean wanted to tell him. All we would have got was Dean repeating himself, probably less eloquently with Cas directly in front of him. All Cas does is let Dean know that he’s heard him. Nothing else is necessary for him - Dean said everything he needed to hear.

Luis Nov

In my opinion he did needed that, even if it was the same, even if it would be less eloquently as you said, for a character like Dean, who is always sheltering his feelings and emotions to go there was necessary for 1, healing process and 2 for growing as a person because one thing is saying it out loud (with the possibility of not knowing if Cas heard him) and other is to say it into someone else presence. Dean didn't say "I hope you heard me" when he finds Cas, he said the he wanted to say something, that for him is a BIG step, so that's why I feel like it was necessary, but again, that's my opinion and I respect yours :)

AdoptDontShopPets

True. I would have liked for Dean to say the words to Cas…just a few sentences would be all that’s needed. And for Cas to give a response. He didn’t specifically say anything here. He had a small almost smile, so it seems it helped them get past things a little bit…but maybe not all the way? I don’t remember if Cas says something specific in future episodes, so maybe they purposely delayed him responding until then? Otherwise missed opportunity, though they did have to get their butts back through the portal. I guess I’ll see in the rewatch of future episodes.

I have found a fascinating twitter discussion that sums up the DeanCas communication issues and breakup arc very nicely, and am compelled to share the thread here - S6, the original DeanCas breakup - this is the root of their communication issues. Cas lies and hides things all season to protect the Winchesters. In S4, Dean appeals to his humanity, his morality, and to their friendship and connection -- which worked then but doesn't work here. He tells Cas we're family, we'll work it out together like we always do, even though you lied to us we'll figure it out if you just STAY. And Cas doesn't. S8, then when he finally gets Cas back however many months later, he spends a year in purgatory first begging Cas to come back and then begging him to leave with him/stay with him. Cas doesn't. AND THEN--we have the crypt scene. One last attempt at saying Cas we're family, we need you, *I* need you, and it works to break Naomi's hold on him, but does it work to get Cas to stay? Does outright asking him to stay get Cas to stay? No, Cas takes the tablet and leaves again. Dean doesn't pull the "we're family" out again until 11x23, and at that point, Dean seems to start to get used to Cas' fu****g-off-to-protect-them habit. after "a couple of dumbasses" after "everyone except me" he's more secure that Cas is gonna stay in their general orbit at least. But after all that... is it any wonder Dean stops asking him to stay? When Dean's biggest insecurity is people leaving him, his biggest fear is asking people to stay and having them leave anyway, Cas did that THREE TIMES in relatively rapid succession. Dean gets a lot of flack for not asking Cas to stay from s9-14, but, can you really blame him? S12, in the mixtape episode, the mixtape itself is the least important thing. the episode shows Dean outright asking him to stay and fight together but he runs away on his own anyway, mfu**er is stubborn This is the most conflicting issue Dean and Cas have; Cas needs to keep Dean out of it to protect him and feel like he can still live up to being an angel/useful/powerful while Dean keeps failing to convince him to work as a team, stay and not get himself dead... It's not till he's confronted with Cas REALLY FOR REAL LEAVING in 15x3 and having it actually be HIS fault (which means--maybe it's something HE can fix) that he is able to push past all that fear and insecurity and trauma and say I'm sorry--please stay. and this time Cas does. From the bottom of his heart and face full of tears. But all this shows that people don't need to be loud and angry to be hurtful, and trauma comes in many forms. Also, it can't be overstated that Cas’ penchant for lying and going off on his own to protect the Winchesters nearly always ends in Cas getting hurt or killed, and so much of Dean’s trauma is wrapped up in that as well. Dean wants his family with him always so he can keep them safe, which is something he needs to work through also because that's a trauma response, but it's also been PROVEN CORRECT OVER AND OVER that when they don't stick together THEY DIE! They both want the same things. They both communicate poorly out of fear or feelings of responsibility and a whole bunch of other stuff, often reinforcing each other's insecurities. It's so complex, and brilliant storytelling.

Valcor

When they mentioned Benny your smile was so adorable. I was waiting for your reaction to that :)) I wish we could have gotten him to return, but oh well atleast they mentioned him.

Chrissy

The biggest manipulation by Chuck, showing Sam a false future to break his hope. When Dean said “we lost brother” my heart broke. That is the absolute opposite of Dean and his way of thinking. And deans prayer to Cas? Amazing

Chrissy

And expecting us to believe that they turned into vamps, really, Chuck, really?? No. He knows they can win because they’re the best, his favorite, so anything he can do to break that free will. Jensens acting in the prayer scene? He’s amazing

Welcome to the honeymoon vacation in purgatory saga!
