It was great to watch this series again, this time with you. Watching the whole episode on Patreon with you was such a treat. I cried so much with these 10 episodes.

The temporary link is your reaction 6x09

And so, it ends. I have to say that this finale was a satisfying way to end the series. First of all, I don't think anyone would have thought that Lucifer and Chloe wouldn't be together in the end. After everything they went through, they needed to be together. Chloe wouldn't have been happy in Heaven without Lucifer and for the two of them, Hell isn't that bad so long as they are together. In other reaction videos, people were wondering why Lucifer didn't sneak up to Earth every so often (as he even suggested ("save a few souls, then come back"). Rory underestood that he had to stay away, no matter how painful. And Lucifer gave his word to his daughter. I know in other deals he would try to find a loop hole, but I don't think he would do that in this case. Especially since his wife emphasized that they were doing it for their daughter (I know there was no ceremony, however they were married once Lucifer put the ring on Chloe's finger in Heaven...nothing more was required). I tried to work out how long it was for Lucifer between saying good-bye to Chloe and the very satisfying "Hello, Detective" in Hell. I took comments from Dan and Lucifer about the amount of time that passed for them compared to time on Earth. Dan said it felt he'd been in Hell for a millenium when it was about six weeks on Earth. When Lucifer went to Hell at the end of Season 4 it was noted that the two months was like more than 2000 years in Hell. I fiddled with the numbers a bit (it might not have been exact numbers for either one of them) and decided on a standard of about 20 years to the day. Now when Chloe died, she looked to be in her early eighties so I would assume about 40 years had passed (which would make Rory in her late 30s/early 40s...for an angel, barely out of puberty). So doing the math, I get a number between 280,000 and 320,000 years for Lucifer. No matter what his sins were, being separated from his family that long should be punishment enough. At the end of Season 5, I said that Dan had to get to Heaven because Charlotte, waffles and chocolate pudding were waiting for him. Well...looks like he got all three (I'm sure Charlotte would give him a bite of the waffles). This was the most satisfying for me. After all the things Detective Douche had to put up with, he deserved the happiest of endings. As an aside, it took me a bit of time to clue in that Charlotte and Dan died exactly the same way: gunshots to the abdomen. Well, I got there in the end. And Charlotte can also thank Lucifer for not going back to Hell. He did give her a hint as to what to do to avoid it...not as much as Dan or Lee, but still... While we can see how much Lucifer changed, I have to say that other characters in the story grew as well. Remember Amenadiel in the first season? Could you picture him being God? And Mazikeen. She grew a soul and got a soul mate. The most obvious change was, of course, Trixie. As Scarlett Estevez noted, she begain working on Lucifer when she was seven and finished at thirteen. She literally gave half of her life to the show. I can't help but wonder if Linda would be interested in helping Lucifer and Chloe. Even on a part-time basis. And Chloe is going to be a big help in aiding the souls in discovering what their guilt might be. As a detective, she would definitely know what questions to ask. As to the possibility of a movie or some such: much as I would like one, what story is left to tell, at least for Lucifer and Chloe. Chloe is literally dead. Going back to Earth wouldn't be an option and I don't think Lucifer would ever want to leave her again. So Heaven and Hell are their only options (I think they would go to Heaven as a vacation...and to see Dan, Charlotte, Chloe's parents (John Decker needs to meet his granddaughter). In any case, I don't see a reason for them to come back. Spinoffs would be difficult. A Trixie spinoff would have to factor in her mother and half-sister. Maze and Eve? Possible, I guess, but again, you would have to avoid some of the characters or else things would really get complicated. Besides, this was a good place to stop. In closing, it has been a wild ride, these six seasons...and a whole lot of fun, too. We had a few laughs and shed a few tears. And we got a finale worthy of those six seasons. And Dakara, you're not finished with Lucifer. We need your reactions to Seasons 5 and 6 Bloopers, if you please!

DakaraJayne

weird, I just checked & should be all good

DakaraJayne

did you have this reply ready to go??? You were so quick haha. I will definitely check out the bloopers dont worry & many more videos too! Thanks so much for your comment & for joining me with my journey too. This show has been amazing & i'm truly fortunate that the fandom has been just as good. Hope to see you for many more shows to come.

David Strbavy

Yeah, actually I did. I was able to cut and paste as soon as I finished watching... I prepared it just after your 6x09 reaction video. One other thing about Linda: how many people could compare the bedroom techniques of both God and the Devil? She is in a category by herself (I would suspect).

bostonate

As I understand it, the writers confirmed that Lucifer was with Chloe when Rory was born and was able to hold her in the hospital. He also popped back up from time to time to check on Chloe.

Apo

Now it works ! Thanks ;)

Mirko Paskota

Dakara, I 100% agree with you - THAT is how you end a series!!! And naturally, Chloe's Heaven loop is to be with Lucifer, forever - WHEREVER he happens to be... Brilliant!

MZ

The season 6 bloopers aren't out yet, but S5 bloopers are. There's also a Pilot table read that's hilarious and worth seeking out. Also, this fanvid about Lucifer & Rory made me break down sobbing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAurm9E62lI

imarynik

Excellent taste as always from the doctor. :) Very observant with the parallel, thank you, I missed that. And I agree, both married by burning/dying in heaven.

Michele

This was a really good series finale. It seemed like they fit a lot of stuff into this one episode too. I loved the fight scene in the warehouse as Lucifer and Chloe were making their way to Rory. So cool and well choreographed and shot. It seemed like the emotional stuff was well balanced too. I LOVE the chemistry between Tom and Lauren! They really make the relationship between Lucifer and Chloe work. They play off each other so well, in the emotional and love scenes. You get the sense that the actors actually like and respect and trust each other a lot. I still have issues with time travel plots. They did a somewhat decent job explaining things, so it's not so ridiculous. Personally, though, I would have changed things. Not had Lucifer stay away. I think Rory would have still turned out okay and she wouldn't have had so much grief. Even though it's the grief they want us to believe helps her out in the end. The scene where Lucifer was trying to stop Rory from killing that a-hole is maybe supposed to be the reason that things need to happen the same way. That's my take on it.

Celia Fox

I like your take on it. I also think Luci had to stay away as if he visited earth too often there would always be a chance that the time loop would be broken and both Chloe and Luci agreed together heartbreakingly not to do that. I wondered for a while why not break it anyway but it occurred to me that if they did then the daughter they had come to know and love, with her badass wings and strong character would be wiped from existence. Of course, Rory would grow up and develop but she wouldn't be this one...her lifestyle, her choices, her memories would all be different- her strength of character and badass wings would have been different for as Rory herself said, growing up with a powerfully strong committed single mother gave her all of these things. I wondered too, if Luci had stayed on earth would they have had to move every so many years as Chloe aged but Luci didn't and people would surely have asked questions. They would have to have left LA, LUX, the LAPD and moved on and on and I wonder what effect that would have had on all them and what effect Chloe's aging and Lucifer not would have had on Chloe in the end? It would have looked like Luci was looking after his 'grandmother' ? I don't want to think about it! I think the ending was perfect and that elephant in the room.celestial immortal in a relationship with aging mortal was addressed head on! I loved it.

Celia Fox

Thank you Thank you Dakara for some of my favourite reactions ever ever ever! I came to your Patreon for Lucifer only and although it is now finished, I will stay awhile for the BTs, Bloopers etc etc videos that I hope you will react to. There are many out there. Also if you are interested (not necessarily as a reaction) may I recommend two other videos that can be found on YouTube- one is Tom and Lauren talking about season 6 and particularly how it ended- well worth a watch and Jo Henderson and Ildy Modrovich (Showrunners and writers) who took part in an hour long interview on Word Balloon where they talk all season 6, answer questions fans asked and it is brilliant! Of course, as well as all that I am staying with you for lots of re-watches of Lucifer from the Pilot onwards in order to enjoy it all over again- so I hope you won't be deleting any Lucifer content anytime soon. You have been a Star and I have loved this journey with you...so to quote a certain 'Detective' "It's not goodbye- it's just goodbye for now!"

imarynik

I agree. They loved the Rory they met, so they didn't want her to change. Both Lucifer and Chloe had a purpose so they were able to wait for each other while doing sth. meaningful. Their relationship was so strong, they never questioned their love for each other, that certainty carried them both. And I agree, the rs on Earth would have been a little like in the Highlander movie (the first one). Great reaction, and do not appologize for your tears, we all cried, and rigthly so bc the story is touching and has an emotional honesty that is very rare on TV.

MZ

In terms of why Lucifer couldn't come up once in a while, like others have said it would have changed the Rory that they had come to know and love the past couple of months. Not to mention maybe Dan wouldn't have made it to heaven, etc. Whether Luci would have come up and snuck around with Chloe when they knew Rory wouldn't be around, you can headcanon either way I think. But I know their love was strong enough that either way they knew they would find each other again, no matter what. Personally I really loved this season as a whole and the ending as well. Was it perfect? No. I think it would have been better to have a fuller discussion with the three of them rather than a last second promise, but I think they would have reached the same decision. Would also have been cool to see Lucifer at Amenagod's ascension, I think. And maybe some brief glimpses into Deckerstar's future post reunion in the credits, hanging out with Rory and (eventually) Trixie, having dates in Heaven with Dan and Charlotte, etc. Though I think the actual last scene we got is absolutely perfect, so I'm not too torn up on that.

David Strbavy

The only other, aside from Chloe, who would know what happened to Lucifer and why would have been Amenadiel. Being God would make him all knowing. I don't think Chloe would have told anyone lest Rory found out.

Michele

I hadn't considered the part about Dan! That is the part of this timeline that makes it worth keeping for me, mostly. I had thought that there were ways of changing the timeline and having it all work out, even if some things were different, but then Dan would never have left Hell and would never have had the chance to tell Trixie what he did and so resolve that gilt he had. Thanks!

HomieForSun

Yeah Chloe didn’t necessarily tell anyone but Luci’s goodbyes certainly set the context for his disappearance so that everyone in the room when Rory is taken back to Chloes apartment knows he didn’t leave willingly/ because he wanted to: 1. Linda - His last conversion with her is about how torturous it is not knowing WHY he leaves I.e she is aware he may leave and leaving is not what he would want 2. Ella - Luci talks to her about how he may leave without notice but he HOPES he doesn’t however it is a possibility I.e from Ella’s POV (and by proxy Carol if/when she tells him) Lucifer MAY leave, but certainly doesn’t look like he wants to 3. Amenadiel - As you said, he’s God and we know he sent Chloe to hell to be with Luci I.e he knew Luci was there 4. Maze - Maze knew of the Rory-Luci feud (as did Eve, Amenadiel and Linda) so when Luci seemed sad as if were there final goodbye, she knew there and then he was leaving, and once again based on his subtle sadness would have recognised that he didn’t WANT to leave.

Mirko Paskota

Dakara, the answer to the question why Lucifer couldn't pop up from time to time is simple and has nothing to do with time-travel and time-loops. He couldn't do it because he gave Rory his word!!

Ashley

Awesome reaction Dakara! Although the overall story line itself was a bit messy this season IMO, I thought this was a very emotionally satisfying series finale. I laughed, I cried, and all the characters had nice wrap ups to their stories. Loved how excited "Amenagod" was when Charlie got his wings lmao 🤣. Loved seeing Dan and Charlotte happy together in heaven(I mean, he's still dead, but let's focus on the positive lol). The only thing that annoyed me was seeing Le Mec getting therapy to end his hell loop. Call me a vengeful person, but he killed Dan, therefore he should suffer for eternity haha 😄. I just want to add, I wouldn't have watched this show if it wasn't for you. I only started watching because I knew you were doing reactions to it. So thank you for being the inspiration for me to give it a chance. It's been such a fun show to watch along with you. Now onto The Boys! It's gonna be a crazy ride with that one 😆

William Lawrence

Season 6 was by far the worst for me. Ella LOSING HER FAITH, yes, losing it. Her whole character throughout the show was that she had faith. However, her learning that it all actually exists erases that belief and makes her KNOW. This ruined her character completely for me. Should have been written a different way. Back in season 4 I am almost certain Lucifer tells Eve that souls that leave heaven cannot return, so how did Adam expect Eve to go back, or even himself go back? May be wrong on this one, but I am fairly sure Lucifer said those exact words. A bunch of other mistakes put me off this season from the start. I wanted Malcolm. That scumbag, lol. It sucks that this show fell from my top 3 shows to not even in top 10 anymore.

David Strbavy

I've been thinking about why Chloe was her "young self" when she went to Heaven (and eventually to Hell with Lucifer). My theory is that it was another case of self-actualization (the same way that an angel's wings can change their appearance). Chloe's soul simply thought of herself at that age. I can sympathize with that. There are many times when I think of myself 20+ years younger than what I am (then I get a reality check when I look in the mirror). Similarly, when I think of my late parents, I don't see them at the end of their lives, but the versions of them about 30 years younger. It's a case of perception. Anyway, that's my theory. Take it anyway you choose.

Amye Sabin

I think that was retconning, because of all the complaints/confusion as to why Lucifer couldn't see his family. Otherwise, they would've filmed/shown it or referenced it.

Jim Greer

I got to this a bit later than others but I just want say I have enjoyed watching Lucifer again through your eyes Dakara it has been a wonderful journey . I agree with you this was truly a great final to a great series . Please never apologise for showing your emotions as I shed more than a few tears myself . Thank you for reacting to this fantastic show and now we explore the Buffyverse . 💕

Leonard Ledung

A few details you missed, or well not missed but caught a bit late maybe. your right about why Lucifer can't go up to earth, it could change Rorys life, and thus change what she does with it. But another thing is how Amenediel removed the throne, to not be above his siblings. And of course, Chloe chosing not to go to heaven, rather she went to Hell by her free will to be with Lucifer. Your reactions have been a great journey, so i guess we start with Buffy now, looking forward to see what you think about it. It's like the basis for many newer shows like Supernatural.

Sharon Davis

How do we put up with all of this ... your crying ... 😢 I am crying as well ! 😊

DakaraJayne

All the tears! Such a great end to an amazing show though! Thanks for watching Sharon

John Daily

I loved how her final words, the last sentence in the entire series, encapsulates the theme of everything: “Thought you could use a partner.”
