Hello All!

The stuff with Cordy & Xander in this one actually warmed my heart. It added a new layer to Cordelia I felt & enjoyed it. The humour was funny & I loved the twist of everyone being effected by the love spell haha. Plus they did a call back to Amy and witchcraft which I like too. I hope Xander has learned his lesson. Giles being disappointed in him was hard to watch. I'm glad he was respectful to Buffy too.

Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support!

Much love

Dakara x

The BLOOB

Big fan of this double drop thing :)

Erika Wood

If I remember correctly, one of the reasons for the Buffy rat was because Sarah was doing SNL that week. Fun reaction.

Tim Pierce

Favorite episode of season 2. Barely, though.

Dave Ford

This one is huge fun - but I'm not sure Xander deserves much credit in the end. Baffled by Cordy's response to discovering he tried to put her under a love spell - I don't know why she wasn't appalled and disgusted by that.

The BLOOB

Because she's Cordy... I think a lot of people would feel how you said, but Cordy is a special kind of self-obsessed. She took it as a compliment.

Chas Summers

Fun fact: The Buffyrat was conceived so SMG could take a week off shooting to do Saturday Night Live.

Tim Pierce

I love the detail of having Xander and Cordelia end up in the basement again, back where it all started. And I know they explained that Cordys necklace is what kept her from being affected, but I like to think she was already in love with Xander, and that's why it didn't work.

It's the next episode reaction that I'm really waiting for, episode 17, Passion. It's a doozy and one of the most important episodes of the series. That being said, this episode is a little rapey and weird but its entertaining. It makes sense that Xander would do something this stupid because hes supposed to be a 17 year old boy and we are all stupid at that age. Also don't like Cordelia taking him back at the end but hey, its tv.

Phoenix Dawn

Cordelia looks incredible in every outfit she is in in this episode!

I always took Giles' reaction to have been so strong because the idea of a young bloke messing with magic and getting people hurt, was a little close to home for him.

This one, in general, was really a funny a crazy episode, but still it bothers me that Xander, who basically was the bad guy in this story, in the end he comes out the winner and gets the girl. Yes, he gets some punishment during the episode, more or less, and maybe he learns something at the end, we hope, but what about all the people that ended up hurted or endangered because of his decisions? Listen, I think that we all experienced some brake ups, so we all know that they can be unpleasant and painful, but if your first go to response is blackmail and revenge, sorry but you belong to the bad guys in my books. Furthermore I don't even think that Xander's reaction is motivated by grief over the loss of Cordelia, he never gave the impression to be so madly in love with her, but rather by the public shame of being dumped. So he decided to make Cordelia suffer, not out of love, but just out of malice? That's even worst. A sign of this, I think, is that, when Buffy starts flirting with him, he immediately drops any thought about his revenge and Cordelia, without a second thought. It's a pity, because that could have been a great moment of growth for his character and it would have made the ending much more acceptable. Imagine if, when Buffy looks like she's about to kiss him, he blocks her realizing that, yes Buffy is his fantasy, but the person he really wants now is Cordelia … “damn! I love Cordelia!”. That would have been great. Sadly they didn't. About the ending. That is clearly a great moment of growth for Cordelia's character and, I think, the reason she decided to go back together with Xander is because she thinks that he did what he did for her, to make her fall in love with him again, to win her back. I really don't think that Xander ever honestly confessed to her that the spell was to take revenge on her, to make her suffer and humiliate her. Bad Xander! You can do better Cordy! One last thing. I'm still surprise by how low they set the bar for Xander to deserve some kind of praise. Apparently in this case showing a basic decent human behaviour not taking advantage of one of his closest friend while she's under a spell he himself caused. One final consideration based on my absolutely personal experience of how I remember being in high school. If someone like Xander, as described by Lerry a no one, gets dumped by someone like Cordelia, probably one of most desirable and popular girl in school, his “social status” it would have to go up and not go down. The fact that he was dumped means he dated her and that would have earned him the admiration of many guys and, let's be honest, some girl's interest. In this case I think that the writers misrepresented the “ecosystem” of high school.

You've already got a lot of comments, so likely not much I can add. What I will say is that I'm glad to see Seth/Oz with his natural hair color! It just didn't look right, seeing him with dark hair. He's a ginger and us gingers need to stick together and honor our hair color! lol

ADDButterfly

I feel like you don't know what the word 'rapey' means. Because Xander did nothing like that this whole episode, the only one that got close was Willow. He did a stupid spell, but he never actually took advantage of anyone at all.

Aranforge Gaming

Still seems weird to me. Like a magical roofie.

I'm late to the party here! Just joined patreon and am loving re-watching my beloved Buffy with Dakara! I always think of this episode as "Xander roofies the School" Not his finest moment, but some very funny bits, especially with Dru :)
