So.... yeah.... We don´t talk about the werewolf costume ok? Everyone can agree that it´s terrible. Still a fantastic episode though! And thankfully the costume does never return.

Paul Maki

Fun fact, Jack Conley (Kane the werewolf hunter) played the sheriff in the Supernatural episode “Yellow Fever”

Claire Eyles

The funny thing with the werewolf costume is that it totally reminds me of the werewolf transformation scene in the howling, which was like totally awesome Special FX for 1981! LOL.

Chas Summers

Yeah, the costume was terrible. If they had 10 cents to produce every season 1 episode, they have about a dollar each for season 2.

Bart Aansorgh

So yea.... the custome. What costume? really though, this episode is great. The relationship things are quite good. Larry was obnoxious and changed. But ofcourse Willow and Oz shone this episode. And yes, angel is horrible as a bad guy in the best way. You hate it, but at the same time he plays it soooo well. The LGTBQ+ stuff in this episode maybe wasn't handled the cleanest by todays standards, but lined up against the standards of the time this came out (hehe pun intended), it was some of the better content for it. You'll keep enjoying this show im sure. :)

An almanac is a book of lists of specific events. In this case, it's moon rise/phase times for the year. But it can also refer to lists of sports results/fixtures, tide times, concert events etc.

The BLOOB

Little known fact... that actually wasn't a werewolf costume. They actually got a real werewolf to play the role. That's what they really look like.

Let me start with a question. Where did Oz wake up after the first night? Didn't he notice anything strange? Didn't he even ask himself a few questions? I understand that Oz is super chill, but at least after hearing about the werewolf some doubts will have come to him. “Only in Sunnydale” moment: Oz asking to his aunt: “Is Jordy a werewolf?” The friendship between Buffy and Willow proves to be as amazing as ever. Even if Buffy is clearly suffering she is there for her friend, she care and want to see her happy. How, despite her situation, she notice Willow's pain when Oz does not stay with her in the library, simply great. theirs is probably one of the best relationships of the show. I would like to say one thing to Willow though: Willow: “What does he see in her, anyway?” Me: “Did you see Cordelia?” I understand that she is quite a character, but she's still great and damn funny. About that … Xander, what's your problem now? You are there kissing Cordelia, I repeat myself … Cordelia, and you start bitching about Oz and Willow? Why does he always have to be so possessive and controlling? He seems to regard all the girls around him as his harem, if they are not with him they can't be with anyone. Not only it's childish but above all he will end up hurting the people who love him. Why can't he behave like a good friend and just be happy for Willow? Anyway, at least, I'm happy to see that this time Buffy, when Xander begins his usual spiel, does not let him get away with it … “Xander … it's not up to you”. Talking about Xander and Buffy, that scene at the mortuary, I still don't get it. It's really weird and doesn't bring anything or goes anywhere.

Regarding Xander and his homophobia storyline, please remember that this was made over 20 years ago and things were different then. Being gay wasn't something that people on tv talked about, or that straight high school kids were supportive of or sensitive to. Things are better these days in that respect. The show does do a little better with this later on.

Chas Summers

The coming out of the closet part of this episode was handled very well for 1997.

Ed Green

I think it's that she's grieving for her essentially dead boyfriend and so she briefly, in a vulnerable moment, considers taking solace by replacing his affections with those of someone she cares about who she knows also loves her. It's kind of like what happens in that movie scene with Emma Watson and the 'hey little train' song.

Gina St Phillips

Yes, I agree. It's hard to see it that way from today's perspective, but that handling of it was actually very progressive at the time. I was in high school in the 80's, and I know that was a decade before Buffy, but I didn't have any idea that anyone I knew was gay. Literally nobody was out, and using a gay slur toward someone was extremely derogatory. I imagine those who were actually gay might have chosen to hide it, and if confronted, they might have chosen to adamantly deny it. Those of us who were not gay were confused and uninformed, making our judgements based on wrong information and societal prejudices. Now I know many of my classmates who felt they had to hide once, but are now living their authentic selves. I wish I could go back in time and tell them, "hey, it seems hopeless, now, but you are going to be able to get married if you want to, have children if you want to, and live the life you were born for. " It's gradual, and sometimes it seems like we are taking steps backward, but we do make progress, and as strange as it may seem, this show actually helped us take incremental steps forward.
