Hello All!

I enjoyed this one. I felt it had a bit of everything. The parallels are what hooked me. Seeing Angelus & Buffy in that heart warming scene in the school was great but ouch! I feel for Buffy so much, she always has so much on her plate. That ending though! Spike standing up from the wheelchair had me shook! I feel this is gonna be HUGE.

Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support!

Much love

Dakara x

1 of the best episodes of the entire series in my opinion. I absolutely love this episode.

Dave Ford

That's such an interesting episode on so many levels. Everything from Willows developing interest in magic, through a reminder than the Principal knows exactly what going on in his school, through to the emotional impact of the scenes between Buffy and Angel and the unexpected gender swap to the reveal with Spike at the end. All great stuff - and worthy of many a re-watch. Thanks for the reaction!

Alan Pownall

“To forgive is an act of compassion, Buffy. It's not done because people deserve it, it's done because they need it.” That line genuinely changed how I looked at the world and it is something I have kept in mind ever since. I also watched that little moment with Spike at the end about 20 times, just the music swell and then him standing up got me so pumped up for what was coming. Can't wait for the finale next week.

Completely unrelated to the video: where did you get that shirt??????? :-)

Well nearly hello again Dakrya :) The parallels in this episode are great. My take is that Cordy got it right. That in a way buffy actually identified with the ghost, because in a way in her mind she feels partly responsible for having caused angel to lose his soul. So I think she's trying to figure out how to forgive herself. She's slowly closing down further to get ready for what she feels she has to do. Angelus and spike are commin to a head and Angelus was properly riled by what happened. Can't wait to see your reaction to the final episodes :)/

That quote means so much to me too. It's kind of like the emotional version of being a good Samaritan - forgive in order to help. It's helped me to forgive a lot more than I might have done otherwise, and it's something I always strive my best to do.

The BLOOB

"How are they gettin guns!? HOW!?" Well this episode, it was because magic... but every other time... it's because America.

Bud Haven

I love the music in this episode. Especially how the song (Charge by Splendid) playing while Buffy was being asked by the boy to the dance, emphasises the sadness Buffy feels.

Bud Haven

Buffy was blaming the boy for killing the teacher, and him needed forgiveness. But everything that happened was the teacher's fault. There is a reason it's statutory rape, 16 year olds are often too immature to handle a romantic relationship, He was unable to let go when the teacher ended a relationship he should never have been in. If he was the same age as Buffy he's 17, but that doesn't change much.

Allan Cornett

One of my picks for a top BTVS episode. It teaches a lesson but is not preachy. The twist at the end was brilliant and reflected what had happened to Buffy and Angel. Both Buffy and James couldn’t believe that someone could just stop loving them. Of course on the other side, Angel loves Buffy but the demon in him doesn’t let him love. Grace loves James but feels she has to lie because society would shun them. All of this is, of course, IMHO. I just watched your reaction so now I know none of this is news to you.

Allan Cornett

Sarah and David give such great performances, some of the best they have ever done. Sarah got a lot of acting experience on the soap opera she worked on, but David was still new to the acting thing. Their chemistry together sells the scenes even more.

I designed it myself :) I love the show lost girl and Tamsin was my favourite 😻

DakaraJayne

I totally agree :) glad you enjoyed the episode Allan. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts

Great episode and great reaction. I love how invested you were in it. And the Karma comment on Cordelia made melaugh, but also made me think. You might have stumble on a nugget of truth, there!

I really like this episode by itself, but it's also an important step in the bigger story arc of the season for what concerns Buffy. Not surprising considering that she is the arc, in a way, the entire series exists to tell HER story after all. I share your feelings anyway that the snakes part as well as the monster's arm in the locker, seems quite disconnected from the poltergeist's main theme. Also how something appears and immediately disappears while others, like the snakes, look to be real and permanent. I know, it's magic, maybe that's how it works. Maybe they just did it to justify the scene with Snyder and the police chief or something, or maybe they just needed to stretch up the screen time. I don't know. Whatever. The main plot of the episode clearly reconnects with one of the main themes of the season. This irrational sense of guilt felt by Buffy, almost a contempt for herself, because she can't save everyone or because she can't change the world. We have been able to see this since the first episode of the season, when she looked convinced to have put her friends in danger while she didn't, she saved them actually. Was she awful to them? Absolutely, but the fact that they were in danger had nothing to do with her. The same thing, in a way, with Ford in “Lie to me”, or what happened with Angel himself. (The Angel thing however I'm still convinced that it's due to the gypsies. In fairy tales the one who casts a curse always takes care to explain all the terms and conditions of the curse.) We can see this as a phase of “narcissism” that we go through as teens in which we think that everything that happens, good or bad is the effect of what we say or do. “If only I had said this or done that”. Simply, no. The world doesn't revolve around us, it's chaotic and aleatory. During the entire season, everyone told her, over and over again, “it's not your fault”, “no one could have known”, etc. And it was true. But this is a reality that she must come to on her own. Buffy, as slayer, will have to take many decisions on her own because no one else can. To do it she has to trust herself and that she will take a decision for the right reasons, accepting that there will still be consequences, some positive, some negative and many unpredictable, What happens at the end in this episode is a key moment in which she finally forgives herself for what happened to Angel and starts to accept that, yes, it wasn't her fault. How can I say it without actually say anything to avoid spoilers? Let's just say that to overcome all the issues she faced in this season and grow as a character she will have to understand her personal strength, her value and her determination despite everything and everyone to become the person she is destined to become. A little confusing? I know, but it's difficult to talk about this episode without talking of the entire Buffy's character arc in the season and, whereby the season finale. Dak, just a remainder. It's true that Dru is funny, weird and sometimes even scary, but she's also a seer with telepathic/psychic/hypnotic powers … don't know exactly, something like that, they never spelled them out specifically.

G.Un.

LOL … but also it's interesting to note Dak's reaction to the scene. They did such a good job in removing all kind of firearms from the setting that is really unsettling seeing a gun in the scene … as it should be when you see someone holding a gun.

G.Un.

Also, let's not forget that it's also the fault of the moron who allowed a sixteen year old to have access to a gun. I know that it's off topic but, I'm not sure why, this makes me think to a Russell Howard's sketch: “If I had a gun I wouldn't feel safe, I would use it.” I know it doesn't seem like it, but when he says it it's hilarious.

She was my second favorite, behind Kenzi. But there is no shame in being second to Kenzi. :-)

Good episode you're Dru mimics are just the best dak 😀 I do think spoke has been ok for a while he's a smart crafty guy so wouldn't surprise me tbh , special mention to the drumming and the guest appearance by the Kittie 😻 yeah really enjoyed this reaction thumbs definitely up 👍

Dr Laura was big in the 90's. She had a radio talk show where she would often give relationship/life advise. I know this because I am 43 and lived through all this. I watched Buffy live at the time and lived through all this fabulous 90's life. LOL
