Hello All!

I have been destroyed...is having a pain in your chest & a lump in your throat normal??? Asking for a friend...I all honesty this episode was amazing and very emotional, I felt so drained after watching it because it was such a whirlwind to watch. I'm gutted about Angel, I just didn't expect that, in my head he was just gonna be back with his soul again & they were gonna be fiiiiine. To give his soul back AND THEN KILL HIM! Was just a twist of the knife tbh. Didn't approve of that heart ache but it made for a great finale! I can't wait to explore S3 & see where Buffy is heading to.

Willow must be protected! I love this episode. Its done so well. Part of the point of having his soul come back at that point was to break your heart. Though sad about angel, I do think this was the best way to do the finale. A thing with buffy is generally that things do not always end as well as you would like. Buffy does look absolutely broken with the stuff with both her mum and angel. The "comming out" scene with her mum was also done soo well, and back in the day this scene received tons of positive acclaim for how it was handled. I can't wait to pick up the next season and see how you react to it all :). Have a good one :)

They mentioned that Angel likely has vampires on the lookout for Buffy and/or Spike. So inviting him in was the safest option. It´s not the smartest decision, but I think they wanted to justify it like that. He is an ally right now, and it wouldn´t be beneficial to let him get killed by someone outside. Even if it´s unlikely Spike would go down that easily.

Plus the whole plan hinges on Spike keeping his cover. Kinda blows it if he's seen with the Slayer and not killing her.

It was a direct Shakespeare reference. Romeo was supposed to be told that Juliet was faking her death, but instead he was told she was dead because the message came through someone who was angry and had their own agenda. Xander would never give Buffy hope that Angel could be Angel again because he wants Angel dead. Also the "Have you tried not being the slayer" mimicking a parent who just doesn't understand that sexuality isn't a choice might say "Have you tried not to be gay." That was an interesting touch. This finale gets me every time even though I know what is coming!

"He doesn't remember???" Angel would have remembered, given the chance. There's just a momentary fog of confusion after the spell. Remember the flashback to his being cursed last episode, he also didn't remember everything he'd done initially, until time started to pass and the fog began to lift.

Ok I have questions what the Eck was in that gigantic cup and what's HC stand for ? So yeah massive twist spike teaming up with Buffy definitely unexpected 🤯 . Yep Zander was bang out of order but it's not a surprise tbh , your tissues sure got a workout this episode dak some emotional moment for sure you gotta feel bad for Buffy's mum and likewise Buffy herself people say things they regret moments later and now sadly the damage is done . Good finale though I enjoyed it a lot so on we go to season 3 yes season 3 already 😲 thanks as always dak you're the best

I don't blame Xander at all for telling Buffy that. He didn't want to take the chance that Angelus would end the world because Buffy would stall too much. When you don't like someone, you can see clearer than someone who likes and loves the one that did horrible things.

I completely agree, Angelus was a monster and needed to be stopped, Buffy hesitated once and it cost Jenny her life, had she hesitated again the entire world could have been destroyed, she needed to go into that battle with no hope of saving Angel. That the spell worked was dumb luck, they really had no idea if hobby witch Willow would be able to pull it off, it's not like this was a fool proof plan.

Just a quick note on the actor to stunt double stuff. Back when this was broadcast there was no HD or 4K and the way it was broadcast you couldn't see the difference. It's just that modern technology has made some of the transitions look bad compared to how it was originally broadcast.

As you saw, this is one of the funniest episodes in terms of bad stunt doubles.

I am always torn when it comes to Xander. He has moments where I really love him (he always has the best one liners) like when he tells Buffy that if Willow dies he'll kill her. I love how protective he can be of his friends.. But then he has episodes like this one and I"m like WTF? Part of the issue for me is that you never really see his motivation for why he acts like such an ahole about certain things. It comes off as petty jealousy but I honestly think there could be more there based on the moments where Xander is actually a good guy. I don't know if it's poor writing or if I just want to believe in the goodness there. But one thing is for sure Xander is very unlikable in this episode.

That line from Joyce, where she asks Buffy if she's tried not being a slayer... they basically used the exact same line in the X-Men 2 movie in 2003!
