Hello One & All,

Intense episode with a lot of heart & action. Willow being a legend as always, not only saving the day, standing up to the Mayor/Faith but also staying in Sunnydale to help more people & save the bloomin' world! I'm still worried for Faith & her future! Buffy & Angel seem on the ropes, I think the Mayor said some things that left some lingering thoughts for our couple!

I don't agree with your interpretation that when Faith said "Give me the speech again, please. Faith, we're still your friends. We can help you. It's not too late" that she was secretly hoping that was true. No, Faith is totally convinced that it's not and has never been true. And she's right. They were never her friends (at best, acquaintances or work colleagues); they never helped her and it was too late. Probably from before she killed the Deputy Mayor. Faith wants to be needed, and they never needed her. She guessed that the Mayor did; and on top of that she gained a (twisted) parental figure.

that knife sniff always confuses me. like yes, it likely smells of oil and metal, right? I guess some people like smelling petrol.

It's the benzene, which used to be added to after-shaves to make them smell sweet. It also gives a temporary euphoric feeling akin to the effect of alcohol. Realistically, someone like Faith would likely have a drink problem and be a drug user. She doesn't even smoke which is normally how the writers signify someone who's evil or gone off the rails (see Giles in Band Candy!).

I dont think Faith was wanting that speach from willow, but more expecting it. And expecting them to want her to change, not expecting them to be done with her. Faith has a twisted father figure in the mayor. In her eyes finally someone who she feels needs her. Or atleast has use for her. That combined with repressing everything that happened makes her just slip further and further. I think this was a really solid episode. Real good plot advancement and alot of development for the characters. I love Wicca Willow, and i think her killing a vampire with a pencil marks an important moment as well. As well as Willow realising she wants to help fight evel more than she wants the best school.

great reaction as always faith is starting to annoy me now but it seems to me the major is clearly filling a zoid in her life that we know nothing about its like her life has been a life of being alone and she is struggling to open herself to being part of something i dunno shes complicated but i still love her and have hope still :) i feel like i say this every episode but where the hell is SPIKE :( oh and spiders god no keep that box closed please :) can you believe we are almost done with season 3 NOOOO its going to fast but im loving it :)

no no no no dak Faith’s already lost and she knows that. Giving her the speech wouldn’t even change a thing. Wilkins isn’t using or manipulating her. He’s a bad guy but even bad guys are caring and can love. He’s basically a father figure for Faith or lets say someone she needs in her life. Also….I don’t like Xander💀
