Hello, the past two weeks I spent a lot of time playing games and drawing my friends for Artfight, which I'm probably done with now. Playing games I consider a part of my job, though drawing is more indulgent as I now really just use that skill for concept art. However it still counts as activity in which I'm definitely exerting creative energy, so I wouldn't call it entirely slacking off. The momentum I build up doing one thing tends to transition to another thing. But I'm also just trying to justify the fact I spent so much of these past two weeks making gift art for friends.

I'm going to try to keep this post a little short so I can get back to making this nasty little guy. It was probably one of the most complex models to make in all of Lethal Company, just because it's so bizarre. And also because the main (or only) strength of this enemy is in looking creepy and weird, so I needed to make sure I did it right; that's why I ended up using a 3D scan of a real animal skull as a reference. I've found that in modelling especially, it's very easy to make something that looks funny and cute, but the requirements to make something creepy are much more narrow. And surely the fact that it's a canine face is not helping, cause I'm fighting the uphill battle that animals are just cute by default.

I'm also experimenting with making Lethal Company's night vision adapt to the amount of light on the screen. This makes running around without a light a little more inconvenient but without it being crippling, and it also makes the dark and shadows look a little sharper when you're around light sources. We'll see if this sticks around.

Games I'm Playing

I saw "Mole" on Steam a couple days ago and instantly picked it up because the screenshots were so eye-catching. I liked it but didn't love it. Some moments were truly great. I had really no expectations, though I was hoping for a less linear, less scripted, and maybe less hallway-driven experience. And I found the protagonist kind of cliche. So I think it's the second best horror game of 2026 so far! Right under Reanimal.

I also just don't typically like psychological horror like this; it feels like anything goes and I can't possibly predict anything that will happen next (nor what is real and what is not) so I feel like a much less active participant in the narrative and I just disengage. Signalis was a clear exception. I wonder why? Well, #1. its world-building was far more in-depth and its presentation was even more stylish. And #2. I liked Mole, but I felt like I was spoon-fed a rather simple story that has been chopped up into a psychedelic mush for style, whereas in Signalis I felt like I had a responsibility to piece it together myself and it was far more complex. In Mole, the red text often just explains what you're seeing in plain words.

I'm now playing Abiotic Factor with friends and really loving this game. It's like if you took a whole survival game and put it indoors in Half-Life 1, which is bonkers. I love big industrial complexes and factories and offices to explore, and the design of this game's world is excellent in the way it loops back around on itself. I've modelled my fair share of indoor spaces, and I think making something like this requires referencing real-life blueprints and doing some urban exploration.

Abiotic factor is fantastic, I hope you continue enjoying it!

Capt2000_price .

I would ask if I could join you in abiotic because I love it so much but it would probably be a no.

Hey, I have a quick question. Are you taking any monster recommendations? I have a really good one, however I really suck at making monster recommendations as im unsure what to do for stuff like stats and a bunch of other tiny things that affect the monster. Another thing is that my idea for what's scary is apparently kind of average and boring as somewhat stated by someone in your discord server. Overall I think my monster would be very scary to encounter and it would be really unique in its own way, with a few other aspects of the jester and sapsucker mixed in. I would go deeper into what im talking about and add a link to my discord suggestion, but I dont think you would pay attention to this comment at all let alone see it. If you do see this however, please let me know with a reply of some sorts so I may elaborate and send you the link to the suggestion. I have a lot to show you for this but I dont wanna waste my time typing it here in case you never see it. I just wanna make my voice heard, but thanks for reading this if yo ever do!

Very excited to see the new monster when it comes out!! Also really like the music that's attached to this post, is it for LC or something else?

I've been playing abiotic with my brother as well. It's one of the best survival co op games we've ever played. I'm looking forward to a 2nd playthrough with another friend at some point.

If you fuck with massive brutalist megastructures I can strongly recommend Metal Garden on steam, very short but really cool game

EvKem's Art

Unbelievably happy you are playing Abiotic Factor, it's one of my absolute favorite games to release these past few years. Stick with it, it gets even better the further you go. Happy to hear dev is coming along ;3

Wumfumblus

I like the 7/4 time sig track linked to this post..... here's to hoping its in LC !!

Bengin Bayrak

I'm both sad and happy by the fact that I smashed my way through Abiotic Factor so quickly. The game is absolutely fantastic!

MASTRBAITR

you should play white knuckle it's a really fun game

CaliberPlex

Great choice to do a 3D scan to get a more detailed and creepier model. Iirc the REPO devs made the clown enemy with a real hand-molded model and then 3D scanned the entire thing, which is why it's one of the most detailed and creepiest enemies in the game. Also REALLY love the circus music. Gives off heavy Upturned vibes with a mix of the Jester. Cannot wait to see what you're cooking up! But definitely take breathers and enjoy yourself playing other games instead of burning yourself out working on LC.

Ok but you just did ask

The song sounds identical to the Welcome to The Game 2 1337 mode ending song, is that just coincidence? If you haven't played Welcome to The Game 2, I would recommend it but only if you are okay with graphic imagery and it's difficulty.

is this sound creature sound?

White knuckle is a must try from dark machine games. It’s a rouge lite climbing horror game where you ascend trough a superstructure slowly decaying. Much more to it than that I just put it simply.
