Remembering Haggis the Cat (Patreon)

If you've ever watched one of my Q&As, odds are good that you've met my cat Haggis. He always wanted to be a part of whatever I was doing—he was that player who always wanted to be in the spotlight, but who was so delightful you wanted to let him have it. We said goodbye to Haggis today after a three month struggle with illness, and I wanted to take a moment to remember him.
Rumors that Haggis arrived in a suitcase labeled "Ashtakala" are false. Haggis and his sister Fey came to use from a local rescue. From the beginning, Haggis was a bold adventurer. After being at our home for just a few weeks, he was nearly killed by a trap: He pushed a detached refrigerator door leaning against a wall so that it fell on top of him, surviving only because it landed so that he was in the butter dish. While some might have been deterred by this near death experience, his curiosity and energy remained undimmed. While Fey is a careful rogue, Haggis is the barbarian who always charged in headlong trusting in his enthusiasm to carry him through.
As I said, Haggis always wanted to be a part of whatever I was up to, whether it was recording a Q&A or running a game for friends. He got along well with everyone, being sociable with strangers and even befriending our dog Ping.
Haggis was with us for fourteen years. He declined over the last three months due to pancreatic issues, but he was comfortable until the end. I think this image is how he'd want to be remembered—ready for a belly rub and encouraging all of us to enjoy our lives. Thanks for taking a moment to remember him with me.
