General Q&A: Call for Questions (Patreon)

Hello, Inner Circle! While I like having a monthly topic for longer posts, I also don't want to ignore general questions and will post a few shorter Q&As when I can. With that in mind, I'm looking for questions that can be answered with a single paragraph. Questions that require longer answers or full posts will go on the slush pile, and it's a big pile. So the more specific the question, the more likely it will be answered.

I'm happy to address questions about Eberron, Phoenix: Dawn Command, Illimat, or any of my other games!

Thanks for this opportunity! I asked this question on twitter, but it is probably better asked here. I'm a bit overwhelmed with racial options in Eberron between editions and fansite conversions. Would you be willing to post what you would consider a list of player races. if you were to write an Eberron CS for 5E today? If possible, maybe a list or races that you feel should remain NPCs?

we always hear how forgotten realms is "a kitchen sink setting where anything fits", but all we ever see are things from other faerun/greyhawk inspired settings. What parts of eberron or darksun do you think should have been added to that "kitchen sink"? edit: Don't get me wrong, I despise FR with the fiery hatred of a thousand bland boring tolkein flavored suns.... I'm just fed up with hearing how it's such a kitchen sink that I need to homebrew so much of eberron to run my games

I always tell my players that thieve's tools in eberron look more like specialized artificer's tools than lockpicks. What are some examples of locks of different qualities that might exist in a society where magic is a science & spells like knock exist to trivialize purely mechanical locks?

I'm currently trying to flesh out the Cogs in Sharn. I have it run by Cannith smith's (or subcontractors used by House Cannith), making mundane items later used in construction (girders, gears, etc...). I just don't see Cannith using low wage labor to create magical items. Do I have this right?

How much is known, in general, about the demonic overlords? Is it generally accepted fact that the world was once ruled by demons and they're imprisoned underground or is that considered a fairytale to frighten children or is it something only the most learned of scholars would know?

My players are on track to break into a lesser Kundarak vault in Korranberg, Sharn. Aside from your standard locks and wards and the Silver Guard, what are some quick hits of other challenges they could conceivably face? I'm doing my best not to simply directly rip off Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone here.

What would you say are some good unofficial source books, either for inspiration (noir, pulp, etc) or ones that share similar ideas with Eberron? I've seen you mention both "Complete Guide to Dopplegangers" and "Crime and Punishment" for example.

Oh, my most important one that I’ve had for years: what historical equivalent should I look to for fashion in Eberron? I’ve heard everything from late medieval/early Renaissance to 1920s and would you to hear at least /your/ take.

Under what circumstances do you believe Kaius III might reveal that he is a vampire? I mean if the players are doing a task to serve him, particularly against Lady Vol, is there a possibility that he might reveal his vampire nature to players?
