And it was as chunky as expected! A solid 28 minuter. It looks like there are two possible starting locations for Blue in this one, I'm not sure if that's based on previous success or if this is the mission where Routes Tiger and Eagle rejoin, but I started in the bottom right.

In the next mission we're linking up with the Army north of Homs in what looks like its going to be a smaller scenario, but given the map is dominated by great big tower blocks I'm already a bit cagey. Clearly the "avoid urban fighting like the plague" approach is going to be moot this time round and if we have to fight through Homs it's going to be mandatory. Fun times ahead, I think.

Beyond Semper Fi Syria, it's War Room time next week and I'm still spooling up to try and tackle the Battle of Ferrybridge. By which I mean looking at the comical paucity of conflicting information from a selection of broadly unreliable sources and trying to figure out a way to describe the battle that doesn't involve me just making stuff up.

So plenty to look forward to, I'm still spooling up for the Winter Turn-by-Turn in the background and having fun building context. I sank an LPH and shot down four MiGs in CMO the other day...

Interesting scenario in terms of intent and 'briefing.' Felt very 'Generation Kill' in some ways.

I wonder if the LAV commander ordered to charge forward and touch LOA Tripoli considered that the road might be mined?

He might have done... I don't think I did. Even so, it's a better choice than risking slow infantry or a valuable Abrams. Recon sucks!

Of course, recon guys LIVE for that sort of thing …
