Once again, more complex topics to cover- like clearing buildings or a building on a fancy TDG- just weren't happening, so we're... back to basics? Sorry.

This was actually an interesting one to test out and I had some fun putting the TacAI in increasingly dire situations to see if they'd give up. Its not tremendously useful to know when you're playing- it's more of a bonus than something I think people should be aiming for- but that doesn't mean it's not handy to know.

With that out of the way I've spent the rest of this week working on the supplemental materials for the Winter Turn-by-Turn. If you've looked in the chat, there's the annual Adopt A Pixeltruppen poster that I'm not entirely happy with and I've been polishing up the background to the battle, which currently runs to about 1400 words and, thanks to some help from a few of the Fight Club guys, seen some tweaks that I certainly think give it a lot more of that horrifying Cold War goes hot variant where accidents, mistakes and crazy people on the ground inexorably work to bring about a confrontation that nobody wants.

Except maybe the Soviets, I mean they're the ones invading Iran...

How close that is to go, I'm not sure. I think a realistic start point is going to be the start of next year, which means I need to think up some kind of other content to fill the rest of December. Oh, and find a willing opponent. I should probably get on with that.

Can you shoot prisoners after they've surrendered? And I don't mean by mistake, more as a tactical decision.

You could use area fire, but it'd use a lot less ammo to just take them prisoner

Yes im playing a Cold War tournament game and a brutal warehouse fight, some infantry surrendered but then they were killed by gunfire. Two squads were intermingled so I don't know it individual soldiers give up or the whole squad.

Tried that when I lost a couple of men in a close assault gone wrong. "They should never have fired!" Personally saying, I think CMSF uncons should be guaranteed an instant "win" if they manage to capture coalition personnel. A living hostage can often create a political firestorm and dramatically change the operational environment.

GLG

Can you assign VP's for prisoners captured?

Ben Kerry

Yeah, irl a coalition soldier taken prisoner can really cause a huge political firestorm
