Bit of an experiment this (somewhat emerging from the fact that I wasn't anticipating having to churn out a non-adlibbed video this week): is it possible to cut the Unit Guides down?

I reckon so. There are plenty of vehicles out there that aren't really that interesting or common to deserve the full-on guides and it would be nice for them to get a look in as well.

So we have the T70M. Which was significantly worse than I thought it would be and I suspect I've missed or glossed over some important features or design points- things like the fact that it was a probably a kind of emergency design to churn tanks out using existing production lines as much as possible, which would explain a lot. But all the practical CM stuff is there.

Probably more importantly, I managed to make this from scratch in about 3 days, which is a nice short and useful timeline.

In other news, the Persian Predicament is almost ready to go. My plan is to input the names today, Luka and I will kick off tomorrow. From there, the plan is to get the first video with the setup to you all on Monday, and then on Friday we'll hopefully have a good number of turns done and ready to go.

I think it was the last of the light tanks produced by the soviets, iirc the intent was to build them on the cheap using smaller factories that couldn't handle the heavy duty equipment needed to put together larger/more complicated vehicles. Production ended pretty quickly as there were enough armoured cars and such either rolling off factory lines or coming over via lend lease to fill the same role and do it better. I think the micro-guides are a good companion to the more in-depth ones!

This format might also be good for vehicles that don’t have a lot of variants, like the Pershing.

Yeah, from what I read (quickly) the Soviets dropping light tanks pretty quick once they got T34 production up to speed

I like this format for the vehicles you have targeted. BT-7 , T-26 and even the T-35 would definitely fit the bill. The only 'good' thing I could say of these early or obsolete designs is that the BT-7 was a good enough design to be the predecessor of the T-34.

This is a nice compact way to explain CM units that would otherwise be ignored because they don’t warrant an in-depth analysis video. I like it.

I was watching this video in respectful silence until canister was mentioned (immediately started hooting and hollering).

UsuallyHaplessVideos

EVERYBODY loves canister. Except the bleeding Soviet crew in the testing. Out on the range, it took literally a dozen attempts to get them to use the canister.

UsuallyHaplessVideos

Yeah, there's a lot of stuff out there that deserves some attention, but not a lot.

Hapless, do you know more about the history of canister shells for tanks? This type of munition is always pretty interesting since their debut in the Drop Zone P video. I remember US army have 120mm canister shots later on in Iraq

Your unit guides were the reson I watched your content in the first place and my impatience was the reason I signed up on patreon to get your unit guides sooner! If the shorter format means more unit guides I'm all for it mate

Theoretically the M60s can punch through the side armor of BRDMs up to 500 meters, it might be possible to deploy them in an "anti-armor" role
