As you might have inferred from the state of Metal on Metal by Turn 50, this is going to be the last week of the turn-by-turn. I've stuck the last ten turns into one final video like the beginning so we can get the slightly painful end phase done.

So still no poll, that'll be back next week. In the meantime, last week's famous battle was the Battle of Leuthen in 1757, where Frederick the Great destroyed an Austrian army twice the size of his own. It's a classic for a reason: Frederick fixed his opposing general's attention on their right, then redployed his whole army round onto their left and rolled it up. The church and walled churchyard in the paintings were a key focal point of the fighting. A really interesting fight!

Anyway, guess it's time for another one! We've got a map (below) this time, though I've (hopefully) redacted all the immediate telltale information. Should be enough to work it out though.

Plus, for some context, a photograph from the resulting surrender negotiations which should give some more hints:

Doing it this way seems like it might offer some more info to dig into, rather than some paintings I thought were a lot more famous than they evidently are!

So, what Battle/Operation is this? Answers in the comments.

I'll take a quick shot in the dark, and say Operation Dragoon maybe? :D

Or maybe its just Overlord on second thought? I figured that would be too obvious lol

Dragoon is a very good guess... a few years early and a bit more tropical than southern France though!
