I've loved dinosaurs since I was a little kid. Like many kids, the Triceratops was my absolute favorite. It was really fun to make, and I'm excited to share it!

I wanted this fella to be able to hold various head poses, so I designed an updated snap-fit joint that has a snug and poseable fit. Check out a quick Demo Video Here!

I hope you like it!Matt

Head: Snap-Fit to Body.  Pre-Supported for easy printing.  No additional support needed.

Body: Print-In-Place. No additional support needed.

Multicolor 3MF: includes multicolor 3MF file that is compatible with both PrusaSlicer and Bambu Studio

Misc: Test Fit objects (Ball and Socket): These are trimmed down versions of the head snap fit joint. Due to tolerance variation in printers, there is a chance that the fit could be too tight or too loose. You can print these test files to either dial in your printer settings, or make fine scale adjustments of the head scale in order to find the fit that works best for you.  Note, tight joints will loosen somewhat as they wear-in.

5%-15% Infill.

3 Walls.

This should generally scale down to about 65% with full articulation, on a well calibrated printer.  YMMV*To Download: Click Here to go to the Pinned "the Hub - Info and Current Download Links" post****Paid Links.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

More dinos to come? I, too, am a Dinosaur kid(at heart, never grew out of it)

Mandy Trundle

Omg I love this!!! My 2 1/2 yr old looooooves dinosaurs! She will be thrilled when I print this one. It's perfect!

Erin Loosbrock

Well, now I know what I'm doing this weekend! It's so cute.

Robin Hadley

Bring on ALL of the DINOS!!! YES!!!! Adorable!

Stuart

Can’t wait to print this!! My nephew is currently obsessed with triceratops so this is perfect!! Another amazing model, keep up the great work

Hannah Galloway

Absolutely love it! Will you be updating old models with the new head fit? Just curious!

matmire_makes

I'm not really planning to. The model really needs to be designed for the joint. I'm also not expecting all future models to use this joint either. It's just another tool in the arsenal, that I'll use when it's the best choice for the design. :)

Daniel Orr

I volunteer at a natural science museum where we have the world’s largest triceratops. I got into 3D printing to recreate the missing pieces. So this file will be popular there for sure!!

James Besaw

My Late father Loved the Triceratops, so the first one will be named after his nick name Tiny.

Scott O'Donnell

Yay!! Does this mean you will do other dinosaurs too? 😁

Lidia Heinzel

I love this Triceratops!🥰😁

Herb Veitenhans

Do you have a fossil version of this planned? Or a skull mount?

Darknynja

This is great. The attention to detail is amazing.

Giamarie Saponaro

Hi. Can someone please help me and tell me what im doing wrong. ive tried making this 4 times now and it always fails in the same place, towards the end of the tail. ive wasted so much filament and hours :( im so sad

Jamie Robinson

So cute!!! I'm happy to see the dinos are showing up!! A brachiosaurus or brontosaurus would be super cute! There are so many dinos that would be amazing as a MatMire masterpieces 😁

Edward Nutley

this is beautiful ! we going to get all the land before time crew ?

Shredder3D

A Raptor with a jaw that opens like the rattle snake would be cool!

Shredder3D

Using a brim? What type of printer are you using?

Shredder3D

First plates of these are done. AMAZING as always!

Nekuian

Just finished mine and I LOVE it! Please, please, please let this be the start of a whole Dino line!

Giamarie Saponaro

Hi! No I didnt realize I could use a brim with articulated ones. I will try it again once my printers are free again. I have a ender 3 pro that is not my friend and an Elegoo Neptune 3pro that is lol which is the printer I was making this one on. Until I get a Bambu one its the best Ive got ;)

Austin Campbell

Is it better to print these in pla or petg? I’m just starting and don’t know what to buy.

matmire_makes

Brims can be great! I often suggest using a larger brim gap than the default. That will still help with adhesion, but also make them easier to remove. I would try something like a 0.3mm gap and see how it works!

Nathan Ryner

You will likely get better results with PLA, nearly all these flexi animals work best in PLA, Save the Petg for higher temperature applications.

Kaia Rasor

This model is the BEST! This is a great opportunity to make a Zombie Triceratops and also Mini ones!

Brian Frederick

Oh yea just printed this came out awesome as always and even better on my new bambu printer. I hope more dinosaurs are in the works I would love to see t-rex and a raptor !!!!!!!

Paige's Purlieu

Just out of curiosity do you make all of your models into magnet heads or do you just pick and choose cause we haven’t gotten any magnets for a while and I was just wondering? Thanks! ☺️💜

matmire_makes

Yup, life just got me a little behind on them. The platypus and triceratops magnets are coming very soon!

Paige's Purlieu

Sweet! I’m excited 😊 thanks for letting me know, it’s no rush or anything 💜

Lucy

love it!!!

Kenny and Katie M

This is my absolute favorite to print. Amazing quality and so much fun.

smoluwu

Will you be doing more dinosaurs? A “long neck” would be great!
