Happy Printing!

Matt

3D PRINTING SETTINGS

Body: Print-In-Place.  (So far I do not see a need for custom brims, but let me know if you feel they would help.  note: generating brims in-slicer can make fin cleanup a bit of work.)

Head pre-supported (recommended): Snap-Fit to Body.  Pre-Supported for easy printing.  No additional support needed.

Head: bare version.  no supports included.  I wouldn't use this one unless you have a specific need for it.

5-15% Infill.

3 Walls.

Here is a quick video showing the easiest method for snap-fitting the head onto the body: https://youtu.be/DWsYu2BY7ow

I will be printing one tonight!

Printing on the Bambu now. Got a second one 'cause the first one was just way to impressive.

I'm counting the days. Early December for me apparently.

It printed just fine using the bambu X1C. No issues with bed adhesion, the joints are solid. The head snapped in relatively easily. Tighter than the python, but it seems to be in there nice and tight but allows mobility. Nice model. Another great design.

Might just be me, but at 80% the middle support of the presupported head doesn't print right, just leaves an open circle.

matmire_makes

Hmm, can you email me a picture so I can see more clearly what you mean? matmire.makes@gmail.com

matmire_makes

Also, are you sure you used head_presupported and not head_bare?

This is awesome I can’t wait to print some but both my printers are out of action they are annoying me

Dr. C.

That always sucks. Hope you get them back up and running!

Got done printing turned out great on my ender 3 s-1 pro at %100. The neck joint was really hard to put on was afraid I was gonna break it. But it worked just fine. How do you get it to stand on the extra supports by the way? Could you post a pic of it? Also what filament did you use? love the color of yours

matmire_makes

Hi! You can see it in the second picture. I basically lay the wedge flat on the table and rest the last tail joint in the U shaped part of the support. Then it’s all about trying to balance the body on that. It’s not the easiest, but with a little trial and error it should work. Haha. The filament is Cookiecad Blue Ombré

Nikola Vonfulton

Awesome got it to work thank you so much and can’t wait to see what you do next.

with a steady hand you get it to stand without the supports too, I really like this feature. What would make it even better for me is to add locking points for the front fins similar to the leopard gecko, he could then be posed for display a bit more upright otherwise he is a bit flat as a display piece. You can see a pic of mine displayed on his tail with no supports here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/tvdL7hboJCpiM4UL7 and https://photos.app.goo.gl/gDJnpRbTe2M6Qkhy9 google photos share

What is the smallest safe printing size on this one? Thanks!

matmire_makes

I printed a 70% one which turned out great and fully articulated. I imagine it could go a little bit smaller even. Maybe 60-65%
