Introducing the Great White Shark!  I wanted to make a companion for the Hammerhead Shark, and what better than the crowd favorite Great White?!  This fella looks to be hiding mischievous intentions behind that toothy grin.  I'm planning to release this model to Cults3D next week.  In the meantime, I would love to hear any feedback so that I can address any issues before I release it there.

Happy Printing!MattPictured Model is printed in... Cookiecad Mermaid***

3D PRINTING SETTINGS

Body: Print-In-Place.  (So far I do not see a need for custom brims, but let me know if you feel they would help.  note: generating brims in-slicer can make fin cleanup a bit of work.)

Head: Snap-Fit to Body.  Pre-Supported for easy printing.  No additional support needed.

5-15% Infill.

3 Walls.

Here is a quick video showing the easiest method for snap-fitting the head onto the body: https://youtu.be/DWsYu2BY7ow

That's some sweet looking filament there...what is it?

matmire_makes

Oh, I need to link that in the post. It's Cookiecad Mermaid. Love it!

Jason

Fridge magnet coming soon?

Aleviltona

My nephew is going to love this. He loves the sharks from finding Nemo

Kate Ettensohn

As soon as I get a printer free this is going on it. Can't wait

Lucid 3D Printing

Nice work! is this multi-color or is it painted?

matmire_makes

A bit of both. I hand painted the eyes to speed up the print time. The teeth are MMU.

Tig

printing two of them tomorrow lol

SM-3D

dose the hammerhead stand on its tail like this one as well?

matmire_makes

Unfortunately no, not without using the head support wedged under the tail fin. It doesn’t have the same front weight that helps the GW balance.

Kayla

Just finished printing it. Looks and prints great! But I can’t get the fins to loosen and move. Might just be me though. But great job overall!

matmire_makes

That’s odd. Did you have supports turned on by chance?

Kayla

I didn't have them enabled.

matmire_makes

Hmm… they should move pretty freely. The fin joints rely on a little bit of bridging to crate the horizontal links. Maybe the temperature was a little off causing the bridges to sag and fuse to the lower loop. Maybe try a temp tower to find the optimum temp for your filament. That’s the only thing I can think of, unless you scaled it very small.

Kayla

I didn’t scale the model up or down, but I will look into what caused the fins not to move. Thanks for the suggestions!

Angelo amato

looks great! what printer do you use??

Herb Veitenhans

Prints great at 100% and at 75% on the Bambu X1C, 0.16 layer heigh on .4 nozzle. 2 walls 10% or 15% infill depending on what I'm messing with. Any chance we'll get a Great White magnet?? :)

Wayne

i printed it today at 150 speed and still printed perfect

Vojtěch Santolík

Yes, he does. With a little time spent balancing him, he does! At least for me it works comfortably. :)

matmire_makes

That’s impressive! Haha. I can’t get it to do that without propping the tail up on the support wedge, or something similar.

travis keith

Thanks was not sure if they were printed or craft eyes

Just Jay

I have a question. how do you manage to get the seams to not show.. your prints looks super clean

matmire_makes

My Bambu prints are generally really clean, and the seams are usually pretty well hidden. I've been using "nearest" for the Bambu. For my other printers, I use Cura's "sharpest corner" and "smart hiding".

Thea, just Thea

I love him! He looks like he should be wearing an Akubra hat and be named Bruce!
