***THIS FILE IS NO LONGER INCLUDED FREE WITH SUBSCRIPTION.It can be purchased once re-released according to this Schedule.Hi everyone!  Say hi to this cute little fella!  Since we already have the carnivorous leaf nosed Bat, I thought it would be fun to make it's vegetarian cousin... the Fruit Bat (aka. Flying Fox)! This Fruit Bat has an entirely new head sculpt and a similar yet revised body sculpt. It also includes the same features as the original Bat: Rubber Band powered flappy wings, clawed feet for hanging upside down, stands when balanced on its feet and tail, and multiple holding head positions (Head positions pictured above on the original bat).  Here is a video walkthrough of the original bat, the same processes apply to this one:  https://youtu.be/uuSkG2til2EI'm really happy with how this guy turned out, and I hope you enjoy it!

Very excited about this one! Can you tell us which filament you used? If you wanted to link to it via an Amazon affiliate link when you release a model we could get the info, and you could get a little extra!

TheArtifactWorkshop

The darker colored one is the one I am after. Looks soo cool.

matmire_makes

I mentioned the filaments in the post, but haven't linked them. I'll update it. (and I don't have amazon affiliate set up yet :( haha).

Johnny Wilson

Aww he's a cute little guy, I can't wait to print him!

TheArtifactWorkshop

I got the Matcha, wood grain, and now starry sky specifically because you used them… I have no idea how much you get back, but might be worth it!

Mike Sprague

really like how you have the head angled for printing, makes using transitional plastic look more natural... be cool of some of the others to get that angle.

Lioness2000

Oh my Goodness! He is the custest EVER!!! My Grandson is going to be soo excited to have another bat friend for his collection! I just love him! Plus being a vegetarian myself, this little guy fits me!! Can't wait to bring him to life!!!

MorenoCreatives3D

Super excited! Have one going for the wife currently. Any chance we can get the bat body without the brims?

R&B Creations

I don't mean this rude at all. I've not gotten to print one of your bats before. Is this the same as the other bat, just minus the fangs?

matmire_makes

No worries. It’s a completely different head design. The body design is a little bit different but is mostly the same as the original. The chest is more puffed up and has a bit more of a fuzzy texture and the wings have a different silhouette on the last section.

Kristin Riess

this printed so amazingly!!!! thanks for sharing!

So how do I download the file?

matmire_makes

Go to the pinned “current download links” post (that post is also linked above) then click on the Fruit Bat link. It will open a separate page with a download button in the upper right hand corner.

matmire_makes

I just added a noBrim body file to the download.

I just added a noBrim body file to the download.

matmire_makes

The fruit bat body has slightly different fur and the last wing joint is a bit different than the original bat’s body.

Dawn Jones

I love Ziro filament and I’m guessing you might have causes the Starry Sky to go out of stock, lol. Hopefully it will be back soon. Love this little bat

matmire_makes

Oh no! Haha. It such a nice filament. I’m not surprised. Ziro has been killing it lately!

Dawn Jones

Just finished several prints with Twinkling Red and that particular filament has been added to the "Immediately reorder when down to half a spool" list

matmire_makes

I’ve been eyeing that one for a while now! Haha

Shannon Patterson

lmbo i just purchased this print the day before you brought it back

Frostbit Shadow

this is a fruit bat, the older one was a leaf nosed

dejjen

I've tried to print this twice and both times the wings were fused solid. I had no problems printing the beardie, or the snakes. Am I doing something wrong?

matmire_makes

Hmmm. That definitely shouldn't happen. Can you email me some pictures (matmire.makes@gmail.com) so I can see what you're dealing with, or even better, post them in the #troubleshooting channel on Discord and we can try and solve it as a group.

MateoLRey

I made one but forgot to change the walls to 3, but it should work fine right?

GATO

how can I get the design if I already have it
