Thank you so much for this video! I'm so hyped for what you coming next.

Andy Weir

Excellent work! Looks like we'll be pressing forward in time even after Caesar's death . Nice! Because a lot of really interesting stuff happened.

Tirantus

I actually cried at the end. Ave Cicero. Father of the republic.

D. S.

I already hated Antony when watching the HBO series Rome a decade ago. Hate him so much more now. Ave Cicero, pater patriae.

Alex Mann

I love this period. Octavian his my boy. One thing I love is how brilliant young Octavian really was. When he got back to Rome he started making some low key moves against Antony. Antony had made his deal with the assassins but the real power in Rome- Caesar's legions- DID NOT want a "deal"- they wanted blood. Octavian began publically calling for the heads of the assassins himself, gaining the support of Caesar's legions in the process. Antony then had to begin to move against the assassins himself, bowing to the pressure created by Octavian. Thus in 1 move Octavian divorced Antony from the Senate. What a mad lad.

Alex Mann

Also I wonder what would have happened if after the battle fo Forum Gallorum/Mutina if the Senate/Cicero heaped praise on Octavian instead of Decimus and gave him the Consulship. Doing this may have prevented Octavian from using force and maybe would have kept him within the bounds of the law. Instead, they publically praised Decimus this angering Octavian immensely and causing him to turn on the Senate. If they had given Octavian what he wanted maybe he wold have complied with the order to purse and kill Antony- and then Antony would have been killed and then when Brutus arrives with 17 legions less than a year later Octavian would not have the numbers to defeat him. Idk though just a thought.

Alex Mann

1 note about the proscriptions- by this point the Triumvirs had around 28 legions under arms with them. As Cassius and Brutus approached with their armies the Triumvirs found themselves in need of cash to pay for this new war. So they proscriptions were in part decreed in order to raise enough money to fund their new civil war. The idea was to sell off seized property in order to cover the costs but the sudden influx of property caused the market to crash. With no other option, the Triumvirate had to institute a tax on the Italians.

Rest In Peace, Cicero, Rest In Peace...

Oriskó Norbert

I feel so sad that none of these events could have been captured by modern technology like cameras and stuff. It would be so awesome to see just a single session of the senate on film and hear Cicero and all the others speak!

Caesar’s Tears

Possibly your best video yet, please keep up the fine work! I don’t usually pay for such things, however your work is more than worthy of my money. Imperium sine fine dedi.

Trevor Conroy-Grinstead

Only someone as repulsive as Mark Antony could make you root for Decimus lmao

Toastman Jack

I became a patron just now to see this video after the anticipation set by Cicero's troubled letter in the last one. Excellent work, man.

Geopphrey

those last 5 seconds... BRUH

Emperor Claudius

The grandson reading Ciceros letter at the end is the one I think it is right?

Very good stuff as always, definitely worth the early access fee

Emperor Claudius

The Emperor that came after Caligula was a diehard Republican

I knew it was coming. I knew Cicero was going to die in this one, but I still cried.
