♦Topic: Unexplained Tremors Near Făgăraș Mountain at Moldoveanu Peak
In: Boards ► World Topics ► Romania ► Argeș County
► TopazQueen (Original Poster) (Veteran Member)
Posted on September 21, 2008:
Today at around 1:08 PM EET, several inconsistent seismic activity was noticed east of Timișoara continuing in a north-eastern direction, before suddenly at Argeș County along the Făgăraș Mountains people felt an earthquake of a 3.1 magnitude that instantly ended right after it began, leaving only tremors that immediately ended afterwards.
Thankfully there were no casualties however many people have reported hearing a metallic echo minutes prior to and after the incident, along with seeing something that fell about 5 km away from Făgăraș Mountains, before something else hitting the foot of Moldoveanu Peak resulting in the mountain shaking and the peak's collapse.
The have been a few mixed accounts on what the object was that collided near Făgăraș Mountain, with some saying the object went through the mountain before hitting the ground and stopping 5 km away, and some mentioned visual hallucinations related seeing the mountain before the final earthquake.

Again, citing the British newspaper articles of 1946, German newspaper articles of 1945, French newspaper articles of 1916, along with the multiple scientific papers: [LINK], [LINK], [LINK]
Each detailing examples of these types seismic activity. This is clearly another example of Omori's Law Exception from the great paper by the late Dr. Akitsune Imamura, ergo propter hoc it is the same in this case.
►Grounded Gaslighters (Science Denier)
Posted on September 21, 2008:
Except this doesn't follow the Omori's Law Exception because nowhere in Romania is along the special collision zones of tectonic lines, nor does it display any of characteristics Imamura's Fault Line Convergences.
Hell, I've looked at maps, none of these mini-earthquakes were along any fault line.
Could we please stop using OLE as some universal law and actually think for once?

It. Is. A. Bomb!
Look at the energy release of the origin points. Look at the wind displacement. Earthquakes don't change the fucking weather!
►The Fault Line Denier (Science Denier)

Yeah, there are no fault lines in Romania to begin with!
It's the government testing earthquake weaponry and making up bullshit like "it's the fault lines" so they can get away with bullshit, like blocking oil digging, mining and other resources we need from the ground.
Some cracks on the floor don't make a fucking earthquake.

@Grounded Gaslighters, Yeah, about the level of arguing I expected.
I presented you with fact and peer reviewed scientific papers, and you offer mere hearsay. Not even anecdotes.
It seem you simply wish to live in some fantasy world due to the evidence disagreeing with your preferences. I'm sorry to tell you, but science does not care for your preference for the outcome.
►Gregory Crey
Posted on September 21, 2008:
@TheValkyriesRide, Science also isn't an absolute, nor should it be treated as such. It's about experimentation, data and refining theories. Observing the world, drawing up hypotheses, testing them and reaching conclusions from that.
Grounded Gaslighters is right that everything about this latest abnormal earthquakes don't fit OLE, presented evidence of that and is proposing that the answer is something else.
And here you are, the supposed "expert" dismissing and ridiculing him, rather than being curious. How very high minded of you.
►KenNM
Posted on September 21, 2008:
Omori's Law Exception does mean that it is an abnormal earthquake.
HOWEVER not every abnormal earthquake means it's an Omori's Law Exception.
OLE doesn't cover literally everything about all earthquakes outside the norms.
►Pheonix_Fired
Posted on September 21, 2008:
Honestly Omori's Law Exception and all papers related to it should be dismissed and re-examined.
Yeah, I said it. Seriously, OLE at first was only on interactions between specific tectonic plate interactions that resulted in multiple earthquakes happening simultaneously, that result in new fault lines, but don't propagate their seismic waves and stop early on after their initial eruption, because the fault lines formed disperse the waves, and in essence absorb them.
People thought it was military bombardment back then, when no weapons or bomber planes were found.
Then came the paper by Dr. Amar Nath Tandon in 1950, talking about a earthquake that was a seven on the Richter Scale that not only didn't propagate beyond freaking TWO kilometers but resulted in a false volcano and a loud boom.
That paper was then just added on top of the OLE to be included in it, as if the two explanations worked together. As if Fault Line Convergences and False Volcano have anything to do with one another.
And that's not the first time that happened. Everytime something outside of the OLE occurs, a paper comes up after that with an explanation that's just added on top of the Omori's Law Exception. As if they're adding patch notes in a game.
The point is, OLE is fucking suspicious from its conception.

Some of you people are really weird with how you treat some science papers like sacred texts.
There's the Omori's Law Exception.
The Penney Radiation Fire Observation.
The Fujita Dead Wind Zone.
Those are just the ones off the top of my head, from the list of the Exception Explanations. There are many more like the one about in-door lightning, don't remember its name.
Point is, some of you people need to stop treating science like a religion, and stop going "Thou shall not blaspheme against the Holy Sacred Omori's Law Exception Text of THE SCIENCE!"

►Gregory Crey (Conspiracy Theorist)
Posted on September 21, 2008:
Look, at this point, I don't care if I end up getting called a "Conspiracy Theorist", but the pattern is too much to ignore at this point. The fact that the EEs, the Exception Explanations, exist--No. Hell, the fact that collectively people came to see all these theorems and laws and give them that name, should point out that something is off about these scientific theories.
Every thread that I look at that discuss a natural disaster that has abnormal sequence tends to have the same people making the same arguments for the Exception Explanations and siting them as a fact, when nothing ever neatly fits into them.
►TheValkyriesRide (Verified Science Geek)
Posted on September 21, 2008:
The "Exception Explanations" is not an actual official scientific term. They aren't exceptions, they're just normal science facts.
►Gregory Crey (Conspiracy Theorist)
Posted on September 21, 2008:
I literally just pointed that out. That enough people felt that these theories are too different and not cohesive with other scientific laws enough to give them a colloquial name should indicate that something is off.
Hell, I remember Dr. Akitsune Imamura last interview. Halfway through it he seems to not know what the fuck the Omori's Law Exception even is. His own journal has him multiple times throughout the years wondering if he even actually wrote the paper or not.

►Sukuna Ryomen (Secret Admin) (TIMEOUT: 7 Days Remaining)
Posted on September 21, 2008:
All the anecdotes used as the bases for the original research of the Omori's Law Exception papers are based on youkai myths and old Ōnamazu sighting of fish fin through fissures during earthquakes. The dates used for "documents" about old earthquakes that follow the OLE correlate to when those old stories were published or began orally by commonfolk.
Basically the origin of the OLE isn't based on any scientific studies and observations done, but on old wives tales used as already accepted evidence to build the paper around, and then cite it to explain any abnormal earthquake phenomena that comes up.
PrimeTime Tabuu (Moderator): What the fuck are you doing? Also timeout for a week for misinformation.

"Oh god, on that thread there are no mods. She doesn't have a filter." Azazel in a quiet whisper as his eyes were staring wide at the screen.
Like watching a slow moving train crash pile up and not looking away, just watching more train carts crashing, wondering if it's over, only for another train to crash and now you're semi-invested wanting to see how long before this vehicular disaster is finally over.
"Azazel, can you please stop watching cat videos or whatever it is you're doing and help!" Shemhazai shouted as he was answering multiple communication spells, and physical phone calls, issuing orders and telling people not to panic, or move Grigori assets in the human world in different places, given the very real (might as well be accepted finality) of a masquerade break. "Yes, move the objects and files of Warehouse 13 in Vegas to our secret facility in Bangladesh, and for the other things..."
Azazel looked at his Vice Governor hard at work, running around putting down fires. He looked around to see other Grigori Leaders busy as well, and idly wondered where those not present were. It's obvious that not every Leader would be at their HQ every minute of the day, or even most days, but in this case, Azazel was more wondering what were they doing when this disaster started.
'Where were you when the masquerade nearly broke?' Is a question Azazel imagined would be asked quite many times over the coming days.
"Hey, where's Baraqiel? Half the work you're jumping around on is supposed to be his." Azazel said, as the aforementioned Cadre was the Personnel Deployment Officer, thus Baraqiel is suppose to be the one to deal with the logistics of telling the minions where to go.
"He's spending the day with visiting and stalking his daughter." Shemhazai said back with annoyance.
"What about Penemue?"
"Found a couple she liked who are secretly siblings without either realizing it, and is crashing the wedding to seduce them both."
"NTR and incest? Shit, I can't pull her outta that. She'd kill anyone that cockblocks her at such a rare chance. Shemhazai, give her a call and tell her to invite me."
"One, go fuck yourself. Two, no. Do your job, Governor General." Instantly came back Shemhazai's biting remark.
"GAAH!" Azazel dramatically flinched back, like the words physically struck him. "Not the 'J' word."
"'Jesus'?" Shemhazai raised an eyebrow.
"Ha ha ha." Azazel deadpanned before sighing. "But still, Baraqiel and Penemue, the two of them being out on a day like today of all days. What rotten luck." He leaned back into his chair staring up at the ceiling, consciously ignoring Shemhazai glaring at him for still procrastinating on actually getting up and working.
He wasn't though! He was in deep thought. Thinking deeply on how to do as little work as possible while managing to fix this mess. It required a lot of brainpower. That was hard work!
Working smarter but longer.
"Azazel..." Shemhazai growled when Azazel just stayed sitting doing nothing for several minutes.
"Ah, that's right." Azazel blinked before leaning forward and resting his elbows on his desk. "Good job convincing the Ouroboros to allow the fight screen to be minimized, so people can use the internet. Hell, electronic devices in general again."
"Wasn't anyone on our side." Shemhazai said back while sorting through which contact lists he's suppose to call next. "It was a mortal."
"That doesn't narrow it down. Regardless of which faction, send them a thank you note—" Azazel waved him off, only for Shemhazai to interrupt.
"I meant it wasn't a magical being or a magician, but a bog standard normie human unaware of the magic. While everyone was shouting or begging Ophis to change things, he just asked her to allow people the option to turn the fight off or put it to the side, so they can use the devices the fight was showing on for its intended purpose. Or so they can use the internet for their jobs, while having the fight screen to the side to enjoy watching it. That worked it seemed. Somehow."
"Huh. Neat." Azazel nodded to himself. Humans tend to luck out when dealing with supernatural beings from time to time. Ophis exposing herself to the whole internet was bound to contacted by someone that appealed to her sensibilities.
Checking the thread that was shared between SNO and MemeO—another point of contamination between the mundane and the supernatural to deal with later—he found the post of the guy that asked Ophis to just let them be able to set the fight to a mini-window.
Huh. Lucky that this guy asked that on the first page before she lost interest and didn't respond to anyone.
Azazel drummed his fingers as he stared at the laptop screen and the minimized window showing a human boy ripping apart a literal army of Evil Dragons, while looking like he was having fun.
He clicked on the mini-screen and enlarged it to full screen. The thought kept worming into his head.
This is someone who is meant to slay the Great Red. Azazel pushed down the shudder and continued. It is very likely he'll come out of this fight victorious, but how long would this take?
Days is most likely the answer. Weeks realistically.
Yet, there was this nagging feeling that he usually got about sudden world changing situations like this. That it wasn't gonna be that simple.
"What to do? What to do...?" Azazel murmured to himself. He drummed his fingers on the table as he watched the battle for a while longer. It really was like watching a train crash into a pile of cars.
No, like watching a plane crash into a train and car faire and the whole thing exploding. With the human boy being the plane, and the dragons being the poor trains and cars.
The kid, Caleb, started the fight by stabbing himself with that broad sword just to get rid of a divine-level curse.
And from there, he was making the Evil Dragons experience ten times the pain he put himself through. The way he moved and fought was almost beautiful to watch.
Azazel blinked at the dangerous thought. Because describing fighting as beautiful was usually for those cultivators or ancient Japanese sword styles. Beautiful and captivating to look at, dangerous of course, but they never really hit above the ceiling of Ultimate Class.
The other example, is Slayers the crossed the Slayer Origin Threshold.
Surely that's not possible, right? How long has he been a Slayer? He looked to be seventeen, no eighteen. He must be a recent awakening, two to three years. Even if he became one as a kid, it would still require years and intense battles, our information network would have picked up on his existence long ago if that was the case.
Then what's the other explanation?
Azazel kept watching. Given that this was a live stream, he could use some of the spells made for digital recordings that show different types of ambient energies and the like.
He already knew about how the Slayer Kid healed by absorbing negative energy, and how his holy energy made the land he fought in be consecrated once it was empty of miasma.
He thought the thread of the vampires asking for help as they were collateral damage to the Slayer Kid's fight with the dragons. Some of the SNO members, Lugh and Mephisto, he recalled, mentioned some parts of Romania becoming holy.
Azazel thought that was an exaggeration.
"Shemhazai, where any cover-up teams sent Romania to begin the memory editing?" Azazel stood up and began pacing around his desk.
"Yeah, sensor teams said that the Dragon Slayer's fight with Crom Cruach caused large shockwaves that should have cause any population center caught up in them to rupture every human's ear drums at the very least. Our internet masquerade team managed to make people think it was earthquakes related to specific locations in Romania, rather than across the whole country." Shemhazai replied.
Azazel stilled, freezing mid-step.
"The Dragon Slayer fought Crom Cruach and lived?" Azazel asked incredulous.
"Yeah, it was before the live stream went up. Agents on location saw it. They also saw Ophis teleport anyone that could have been caught in the shockwaves radii to some place called Gornji Matejevac, village in Pantelej, Serbia."
"Oh? How many—Actually that's not important. Do we have anyone, battle analyst or energy sensor that watched that fight from start to finish? We need to find out more about the Dragon Slayer and his strength."
"Just our rotten luck, as He's back and out for us, no. No we don't. Also the amount of people teleported wasn't small." Shemhazai said back.
"Baah, it's not important." Azazel waved him off.
"Ten million."
Azazel froze, and slowly turned his head to look at his Vice Governor.
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"We're gonna need multiple cover-up teams mobilized. Whole squads of spellcasters for memory editing or teleportation." Azazel said calmly.
"True. I'll start making phone calls. We should contact Michael and Sirzechs, make it a Three Faction Alliance operation for preserving peace. Would make for good PR for the New Treaty." Shemhazai added.
"Or... we get a decommissioned nuke, paint it like it's origin is recent and Romanian, and just wait for after they're disposed of via monster or subordinate gods by the Roman or Greek Factions since that's in their territory."
"Romania is the territory of the Dacian Faction in actuality." Shemhazai stated.
"Dacian Mythological sphere hadn't been relevant in millennia. Technically they fall under the rule of the Roman Pantheon if I recall." Azazel shrugged. "We would basically be cleaning up their problem for them. They would thank us, whomever of them is left."
"So which is it?"
Azazel tilted his head and looked away in thought.
They could do the lazy thing, but...
"Screw it. Call Michael, if he wants to move, we move and call Sirzechs for extra hands and good PR photos of devils, angels and fallen working together." Azazel decided.
Shemhazai nodded and that was that.
For another hour or so Azazel did nothing but watch and analyze the Dragon Slayer cage match on his laptop, occasionally commenting on the live stream's thread.
Fascination, disbelief and slightly growing dread filled him at seeing how quickly the boy was getting stronger.
He checked the Top Ten list a few times as he saw the boy rising up the rankings.
"...Am I drunk?" Azazel blinked in shock as he watched the boy, Caleb Gunnar, grow stronger, rising from Rank 10 to Rank 6 in real time. "No, no, there's no way this can be real." He had only began to say, when multiple communications spells starting ringing out.
Shemhazai and the other logistics fallen angels pencil pushers were in a frenzy answering and dealing with everything.
"What is it?" Azazel went to Shemhazai's side who slowly fell back into his office chair.
"Khaos Brigade." Shemhazai said.
"What about them?" Azazel asked in slight worry.
"A faction of them calling themselves the Hero Faction just evacuated all ten million humans back to Romania."
"Well, that complicates things a bit—"
"All of the land of Romania and some of the surrounding regions have been consecrated, turned to holy land. I thought Heaven not answering our communication spells for a while now was because they were busy. No, this is way more complicated now."
"...What the hell happened, it's only been three hours?" Azazel rightfully started panicking.
Only for Sahariel to slam his way into the command room.
"Azazel, have you seen the broadcast?!" Sahariel cried out, Azazel annoyed at the fallen being overly dramatic.
"Everyone in the world is watching it, Sahariel—" Azazel waved him off, only for Sahariel to grab a random laptop from a shell shocked fallen angel (Azazel started to notice that the room was oddly quiet), rewind the live stream and show it to his boss.
"Rizevim Lucifer is dead!" Sahariel shouted as he shoved the laptop into his old friend and leader's face.
Azazel's eyes widened, and his jaw dropped as he watched the ending of the live stream.
"What the fuck?!"
And then Azazel's digital energy sensors finally finished their analysis, and picked up on something that sent the oldest alarm in the Grigori base ringing. An alarm spell that had never went off in thousands of years.
The detection of an Antediluvian Human.
Cadre Satanael POV:
"Satanael, are you sure about this?" Asbeel asked, concern in his voice.
The Aleistor Organization needed the strength to act and fight on its own, rather than depend on Caleb Gunnar. To actually be his comrades, was to stand by his side not behind him.
"Yes." Satanael said back with a certainty that he didn't feel beat in his chest for such a long time. "This is the path to take. It feels like too much is moving too fast, but I suppose we have Caleb to blame for that, so we must compensate to catch up." He said with a chuckle at the end, making Asbeel's face lose its somberness for a bit, and for Kokabiel to crack a smile.
They had been active with their own goals in the background. Soon however, things will come to a head, where the three Cadres and their followers will need to act in the open.
Notes and research by the Original Satans and Euclid Lucifuge was given to Satanael and other Cadres by Ophis after Caleb's battle.
"It was a heist by God." Were Ophis' words on why or when she did such a thing.
Satanael wasn't sure if the Ouroboros was joking or not, and neither did his comrades know how to react.
Still, all those research notes were invaluable for knowing how to operate the Malebranche. In that, they can't.
Someone of sufficient power can seal the Malebranche, they can channel their power, and through rituals can forcefully awaken them, if they ignore a potential user's demand of their power.
What one cannot do, is take ownership of them. They were unwieldy.
The Malebranche were, as described in the notes, and seen from observations too wicked, too demonic and too corrupting. They can grant impossible and literally unimaginable strength, but the strength was one's whole will, sanity and identity.
The original plan the Aleistor Organization devised had been to seal the Malebranche further into dormancy so as to halt any underhanded tomfoolery, hidden sabotage, or attempt for the Satanic Arms to aid one another.
Using Reverse Magic as the base for the sealing ritual, the fallen angels would have turned the Malebranche's powers against themselves, forcing them to shut down, and ensure no shenanigans with the rest of their plans, of subverting control of the Evil Claws and empowering the members of Aleistor Organization so as to save Caleb Gunnar from the Underworld and fight by his side in the battle against the Great Red.
However, what they originally planned to accomplish in weeks, if not months, would need to be done here and now.
It's been near a day since Olympus had released a statement of 'reassurance' that the Dragon Slayer had been contained, thus would pose no further threat to the masquerade.
Or to be exact, Zeus was bragging about how his faction captured Caleb, even though from the end of the fight and Ophis' broadcast, it was obvious that it would be Hades that would hold Caleb prisoner.
Falling into Hades' Realm of the Dead, after all his battles, and out of energy or stamina, of course the God of the Dead would manage to easily capture him in such a state.
What rotten luck, to befall their hope at the height of his ascension.
Given that the fallen angel knew about the Great Red, it isn't out of the question that the damn dragon had manipulated probability to strike at Caleb at his weakest.
Thus their desperate gambit.
"I should be the one to do this." Kokabiel spoke up. "Of the three of us here, I'm the one with the most battle experience. That makes me the one with the strongest will."
"Those do not correlate." Asbeel deadpanned, giving Kokabiel a side-eye.
"You two have missions that you need to fulfill, whether I die here or not does change the importance of your roles. Thus out of everyone here, I'm the most expendable. That makes me the one most suited to attempt the ritual." Satanael countered the argument.
Asbeel said nothing, looking crestfallen. Kokabiel frowned, annoyed at Satanael's usual oratory ability. To be able to flip Kokabiel's argument on its head by taking the strength the Angel of Stars mentioned, his combat ability, and tie it to the upcoming mission, and then make the opposite argument at his own importance, thus making it so that it's foolishness to go with any other option. And he did it with a casualness that none usually noticed, but for Kokabiel, they were brothers for a long time.
Kokabiel clicked his tongue. It was that ability of Satanael that made him so devastating as an opponent for anyone he talked with, that the only option was to attack and kill him immediately. It made Satanael a difficult ally as well, for you never truly knew if he was directing you with his words or not.
Kokabiel had known his brother long enough to be able to tell his usual mood, or his sincerity. And right now, Satanael genuinely didn't want their upcoming missions to be compromised by their absence, yet Kokabiel can't share the feeling that there was something else.
That Satanael was doing this out of some desire for redemption through annihilation.
The Dying Will in Heaven had been communicating with the fallen angels of the Aleistor Organization, offering guidance, tasks that must be accomplished, and even reassurance, light and love. It was almost as if they were in the Presence of their Heavenly Father again.
But it was still only the Dying Will of God doing so, yet that it showed such activity, such capability after being silent and dormant for so long, only barely acting when called up by the wielder of the True Longinus throughout the ages showed a different truth.
The Fragments of God were burning their existence out to act in the same capacity as when the God of the Bible was still around. Because they had decided to take a gamble and go all in on it. The gamble called, Caleb Gunnar, the Dragon Slayer of the Great Red.
That's why the fallen of the Aleistor Organization had to be diligent to the utmost. To not relax or laze about for even a single moment and give all of their being to succeed at their tasks. That they can't afford any mistakes.
For if the Fragments of their Father were working so hard, then how could they, Satanael, Kokabiel, Asbeel and many others in their group, act with any less determination.
The way to grasp control of a Malebranche was in theory simple.
All one needed to do, was enter the inner world of a Malebranche and overcome its will, forcing it to submit to the user, and thus one can gain control of the Evil Claw for a 'round', a brief period of unspecified time, according to the Original Satans. Whether that was one battle, one year, or one single use, it varied.
That was how the Original Lucifer and the other Satans could use the Malebranche the few times they managed to do so. The only one whom this method never worked on was the Leader of the Twelve Convicted Sinners, Malacoda.
To the Leader of the Malebranche, Lucifer warned that it absolutely must not be awakened, for it does not need a wielder, thus it could bring out catastrophe that can't be controlled.
"It is simply not worth using that thing, regardless of the power it could grant, or the versatility and absoluteness of its abilities."
Were the final words of Lucifer in his notes on Malacoda.
And yet, that will be the Malebranche that Satanael will attempt to dominate. For it held one power that would make all other endeavors vastly easier.
Malacoda had the power to control the other Malebranche, that the Ritual of Domination was not needed for any other Evil Claw, should the leader be under Satanael's control.
In theory given all the powers listed about the Malebranche in the research notes, it would be possible to make reality anchor points to trap the Great Red in place, for the final battle with Caleb.
The increase in power, should the fallen angels become true wielders of the Malebranche, will allow them to fight at Caleb's level, thus speed up their plans from months to days, maybe even less with how Caleb is advancing to his own goal.
"Well then, shall we begin?" Satanael said with a smile.
All present were reluctant for a moment, and then resolved and got to work.
Satanael entered the glowing circle.
The safeguard spells and wards were the first thing that went up. Things to protect everyone and kill Satanael should he fail. Records on what the Malebranche do on those they overpower with their strength, or take control over were very clear.
It was more of a mercy for the Adversary of God than protection for the rest of them.
The next part held no complication. Satanael connected his Light Power to the malevolent artifact and his mind was transported elsewhere.
He opened his eyes to see to see a world devoid of Light.
An empty world with buildings that seemed more like outlines rather than solid shapes.
It was Gehenna.
Hell as it was more colloquially known. The actual hell, not the one popularized in pop culture.
There was no fire, no brimstone.
Just silence. Emptiness. And more notably...
Absence.
Of light. Of Presence. Of Good.
Of the Heavenly Father.
Satanael held back a scoff. He almost forgot what that was like. Having a semblance of His Light back, even from His Fragments was enough of a reminder of what being in His Service once felt like.
That to be deprived of it again? It felt like reliving his Falling once more.
No. This was even further than that. The very possibility of returning to Light, to finding it again, Hope itself was gone.
A dark figure made of black smoke rose. Complete Unlight, the size of a mountain manifested in the blink of an eye, with what could only be described as Evil red eyes appeared, and in the next instant grabbed Satanael with his vile shadowy hands.
Satanael blinked and he found himself in another place.
A place that he had to take a moment to recall. The familiarity throwing him off because this land shouldn't exist anymore.
The Kingdom of Edom, once known as the Land of Uz.
Satanael found himself in front of Job's home, quite and empty.
And then the slimiest voice, sounding like every temptation all at once spoke.
"'Have you considered my servant Job'," it said with all the mockery that could be found in the Underworld on any devil's lips. "Is God just and good?"
"Yes." Satanael replied instantly, and his being felt squeezed, as if under a press.
It laughed.
"He brought up Job. He all but delivered him to you on a silver platter, does that sound like a just God?"
"It was a test of Job's faith."
"At the cost of his suffering? At him experiencing pain beyond what the most lowly scoundrel deserves? Is that just? Is that fair?" A grin could be felt on the voice's lips.
"Suffering reveals who one truly is at their core. Who they are stripped of any pretenses." Satanael said with conviction and the pressure increased many times over.
"A just God brings forth suffering and demands faith in return for it? Are men meant to be amusing toys? Are men's delight meant to be seeking pain? Isn't that an evil god that would design them so?"
"Silence, foul voice." Satanael said firmly, through the pain. "Your hypotheticals means nothing but empty sophistry devoid of any worth or meaning."
"And it, it is true that God wanted Job to suffer." It stated with delight, like one dangling a wiggling worm on a fish hook.
"...Yes." Satanael said, a moment that sent a pang of pain and doubt in his heart, as when one looks at the situation in hindsight, God all but arranged for things to be that way.
The pressure and pain lessened, and Satanael blinked and hide his reaction, realizing the Malebranche's trap.
The more conviction I have, the more pain and power he brings forth to myself. Yet the more doubt I have, the less pain I'm inflicted with. An insidious trap meant to make me full of doubt and thus easier for the wretched arm to take hold of me. Very well then.
Now having discovered the Evil Claw's trick, Satanael went forth.
"A God that wishes for suffering?! Hahahahaha!" It, the Malebranche—No. Malacoda's laugh sounded like the dying of children. The scenery changed to Job holding his dead sons and daughters, crying to the heavens for God. "So he is a God that delights in the pain of his creations. Ah, yes, that is most logical. That God is the God of Suffering—"
"I said hold your tongue, you who wishes to be Lucifer." Satanael spoke, power in his voice and words shutting down the Malebranche momentarily. The pressure and pain erupted yet he stayed standing, even as blood fell from his brow. "You dare put words in my mouth as though I'm thy child, you twisted thing. God does not wish for suffering, God does not condone suffering, nor brought it upon Job or anyone else. I did that. I fulfilled my role and Job fulfilled his. To hold to his Faith."
"And yet He allows it, when He has to the power to stop you with just a word, but no. If one can stop suffering yet does not do so, what is one other than an Evil God?" Malacoda's words and tone held the same cadence, yet Satanael could feel from his experience that the joy, glee and enjoyment was lesser in the Evil Claw's voice.
"It would be employing a semantics argument of me to say that, if a human doesn't help when he has the power doesn't make them an 'Evil God' emphasizing on the 'divine' part, but I won't. The simple fact is, suffering exists, man is meant to endure it through faith in the Lord. To say that God is Evil for not doing anything about suffering is to disempower man's own ability to live, grow and overcome through their own effort. Which yes, also includes holding onto faith during trying times, as being part of their own effort."
"A God that needs the assertion of their subject's loyalty then? That is the God you follow?" Malacoda said mockingly. "How insecure. Is that truly a deity or a petty jealous king?"
"God needs not. The humans' faith is for their sake, not God's, so that they may attain His Grace in their Spirits, through His Spirit." The pressure was too much, that even a fallen angel of his strength struggled to hold onto consciousness. Yet he knew, fainting would be an admission of defeat by this ritual, and signal his definitive end.
"Oh? But then why would Job have needed anything? Wasn't he 'perfect'? Would one who attained all that is needed and a delight in this world, needing anymore faith to have, to prove, when he had done everything perfectly for their god? Everything you say is that Job didn't need his faith tested, nor that it should have been tested in the first place.
"God just simply did it just for what? To make a story on faith? There must have been other humans that lived lives as perfect as can be in faith to their Lord, so why Job? Why torment this one human? Was it personal, since blood still carried sins of the forebearer in that time? If it was not personal, then why would God decide to be cruel on a whim? Or is it that humans belong to Him so he can do whatever He wishes on a whim to them? How is that Good?" Malacoda wicked infuriating grin could be felt in his voice.
"Cease. Speaking. On. My. BEHALF!" Satanael shouted, flaring his power, pushing back against the invisible restraint just enough to stay awake. "God allowed Job to be tested because he was perfect, because..."
Satanael paused as it struck him, where this argument was heading. As well as the Answer.
If he had went ahead and said that, God needed this interaction with Job to happen, to show the rewards for faith through suffering, as God rewarded Job with giving back everything Job lost and doubling it, and that what God feels and experience is different to Man feels and experiences, thus the need for a mediator, that arrived in the form of the prophesied Savior, the Messiah that graced the world...
Then Malacoda could simply say that God created a problem that He knew the solution for, and to offer said solution. For an omniscient deity to do that would be condemned as Evil.
Yet, Satanael knew that story of Job, that interaction needed to happen because...
Because it was time.
Given the new knowledge Satanael had about the origin of the world, he understood. God wanted to see if it was possible for Man to finally overcome Sin and become Sinless again.
And Job was that test case. That trial.
"Job had everything and was as pious as could be. Job did everything perfectly. Lived perfectly. Prayed perfectly. Faced his trial as best as a human could." Satanael grinned, speaking with a gleeful determination that pushed through any pain trying to shut him up. "Yet it only met the threshold of what's expected of Man. Job didn't go beyond that. He couldn't. For what example did he have to follow, to do more in the face of suffering beyond enduring.
"Thus necessitating God to have to come down, live as a human and show mankind how it's done. That is why God allowed me. Why God let Job suffer. God had faith in Job, and when that wasn't met, He still rewarded him, and then showed humanity the way, and the truth, and the life to live."
"But that is just—" Malacoda began his closing rebuke with victorious glee, only for Satanael to rob him of it.
"And He did so, so that they may finally transcend and vanish away Sin from themselves for good!"
The pressure reached a breaking point, then the pressure itself broke as Satanael was freed.
The scenery changed, showing God reprimanding Job, before showing Job standing with both his family, wives and children.
Then the darkness was back, as Satanael stood in the vision of Hell again.
Before him stood the giant figure of darkness and smoke with hateful red eyes, and a villainous grin, hiding his anger.
In the next blink stood a man. A quintessential version of a human. His figure were anyone's at any time, without any focus on a person. Just the idea of man, only inverted to a mockery, showing a human in their worst state. A man at his most desolate and still slothful. A man at his most shamed and still lustful. A woman at her most infamous and still envious. A child at their most spoiled and still wrathful.
Malacoda wore the face of a human at every sin, every damnation and ruin, and yet still reaching out for more of their favorite vice.
The world changed once more, this time to a place that no longer existed.
A familiar garden. The oldest, the first.
And to two people, the first two humans. Adam and Eve. A bitten apple on the ground between them forgotten, and their bedeviled at realizing they were naked, and dread at understanding shame.
"And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. So the Lord said, 'I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.'” When Malacoda mockingly quoted the Bible this time, there was more awareness in his voice, as if before he was half asleep, but now he was awake and paying attention. "How could God 'regret', is he not omniscient? In fact, why didn't He stop His creations of dust from eating the Fruit, from Sinning to avoid this whole mess? Had He wanted His Creation to be damaged, or did He not see the disaster coming?" He asked with that same playfully vile smile.
Yet even as Malacoda spoke, Satanael's mind raced as he tried to piece together all the information he had thus far. The research notes on the Malebranche stated that the only way to even attempt to wield them was to beat them in a ritual.
The emphasis on the word 'ritual' meant, it had to be an actual Ritual, one with rules and steps. Yet those details were never stated, why?
The logical answer was that, the Original Satans didn't want anyone to know the details to what that ritual was. Yet, Lucifer and the rest has been meticulous in a lot of other points, like the individual Malebranche's powers or characteristics.
Usually one doesn't bother writing a ritual's details, if they didn't want another person to know them, only they can use said ritual, or... the ritual's details are subject to change.
Satanael held back making a reaction.
A ritual event sequence can change when it is done between one or more participants, who each want different things. In that case, the ritual becomes a negotiation.
There is a second participant here, Malacoda himself.
The ritual isn't about dominating a weapon, a tool. The Malebranche itself can be considered another individual, then this ritual... is about who dominates who.
"Because God wished for humans to exercise their Free Will, otherwise what's the point?" Satanael said a generic answer, mostly to buy time, even as the pressure returned, at a harsher starting point. "The entire point of being Good, is to have all options to choose from and choosing to be good and moral regardless of other reasons or temptations."
If that establishes the bases of the ritual, then why is the process what it is?
The Original Satans never wrote down what their rituals were, for controlling the Malebranche. The examples we have of those who failed is death, tortured existence, or...
The Fly Chimera. Satanael recalled, the monster Sirzechs faced in the Devil Civil War. Lending power but one that goes out of control, or barely able to be steered toward the Old Satans' enemies, from what I remember of the information I gathered on Bairoth Beelzebub, the main family runt who faced Sirzechs in the Devil Civil War. Ironic that he managed to gain a Malebranche's power for the sake of renown only to be remembered as an unknown random monster that Sirzechs Lucifer had to show off his true form against. No, focus!
"Oh? So it is only a matter of 'secretly choose the option I want, that one willingly chooses, and any other choice is evil'? Is that truly Free Will, or a tyrant wanting complete ownership of the mind and soul of a slave." Malacoda said.
"These childish arguments are beneath both of us. We both know what Good is, and what Evil is. It's a Fact that God is Good, thus the choices He wishes for humanity to take align with Virtue and opposing him aligns with Sin. That is the nature of those realities. Anything else is semantics to obfuscate and annoy." Satanael expression changed for the first time to a deadpan expression.
"True," Malacoda laughed, sounding like hot oil spilling on children. "But it stands to reason that a flawed creation can only come from a flawed God."
"No. A perfect creation ruined by external wicked forces." Satanael rebuked, thinking of how to figure out the details of this ritual without showing his hand. "Is that all your efforts are for? Trying to mar the image of God?" He said with an amused smile.
"Now why would I do that? You have weaved the yarn of his image many times to test humans, haven't you done that yourself?" Malacoda said back, trying to sound casual.
Gotcha.
Satanael was old. Old and thus wise through experience enough to get these word games immediately. He made most of them anyhow.
The rituals challenges your strong points, or whatever you believe them to be. For me in my elocution and belief in God, thus trying to use reason to bring down what I'm fighting for. For Bairoth Beelzebub it was likely his belief in the strength of his bloodline. The ritual must have stages, you can't just battle out ideals endlessly—Ah, now I feel it.
The connection was found. How much power and control Satanael seems to have won due to passing the first trial or challenge.
Malacoda also froze in reaction, looking at Satanael with a more firm and murderous look in its eyes.
"Ah, is something the matter?" Satanael said innocently.
"You're quick." Malacoda noted. "Most never realize since this process so tailor made."
"I got lucky." Satanael said, casually downplaying his part. Sadly it doesn't seem like the Malebranche was underestimating him anymore.
"Regardless, you're fighting for a lost cause. You know humanity deserves no salvation, that 's why you're going on this mission, aiding the Dragon Slayer." Malacoda smiled. "So that the Endtimes may come and wipe the board clean. Erase humanity far more definitively than the Deluge did. To finally correct God's mistake of missing a few that needed to be pruned as well."
Satanael felt like Malacoda was still not taking him seriously. Yes, the pressure and pain felt more focused now, but still... lackadaisical in a sense.
"I am trying to destroy the world, yes." He started, pausing long enough to make the Evil Claw get excited, get the wrong impression that it might be moving Satanael's opinion to its side, thus fall under its control. "However, all I seek to destroy is this world's order.
"It's current form, of humanity being unknowing slaves to forces that seek them ill, seek to only see them as cattle or interesting toys to use or collect. The Masquerade, the controlled wars, the subtle mind manipulations of both magical and mundane kind." He shook his head in disgust. "So much effort spent chaining humanity, I simply wish to see my Father's dream realized, to see what they can really be without all these bindings on their mind and spirits."
"Are there not enough examples in your Holy Book? The sheer atrocities that required the Flood makes even me take pause at times and laugh. How could a righteous God possibly allow such evil beings to keep walking his Earth?" Malacoda smiled.
Satanael smiled back, as he could see the game now. Discount humanity, and thus in turn be forced to concede that God made a flawed creation, and since Man was made in His Image, then that Evil reflected and applied to Him as well.
"But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord." Satanael gave his answer, and just like that the pressure and pain upon him popped like a bubble.
"W-What?!" Malacoda shouted in shock.
"God holds infinite love to His creations." Satanael explained, as it seems the ritual accepted his answer without him having to fully explain it. Just the realization and an answer proved was enough. It seems even Malacoda didn't know, or at least, didn't expect that. "If even one human that is worth saving exists, they will be saved. They only need to reach out to God, to put in the effort and they would be rewarded, and taken by into His arms. The simple fact of the matter is, the existence of the Golden Timeline, that once upon a time, when humanity was besieged by outside forces, they shined with the Light of God.
"And even now that they have Fallen, that they have sinned and required God's patience and love, that they can still become worthy of it shows they are worthy creations of the Lord. They fail, they fall, they make mistakes, but that there's always those that rise up, that act better, that genuinely try and reach out and grasp virtue, and succeed shows they weren't a mistake.
"God's emotions aren't ours, that passage your first cited was simply an attempt by Man to explain and understand God in a manner they can comprehend. God simply grieved, as a parent does that knows and carries out a required punishment to their child. And at the end of it all, all of Father's actions lead to the fulfillment of the Protoevangelion."
Satanael's words fell down like a definitive hammer, ending that argument, and he felt the ritual lead two thirds to his side. If his theory was right, he could now use the Malebranche for a limited time.
Yet... Malacoda was the Leader of the Malebranche, so things likely won't be so simple.
The quiet hung like an executioner's blade. The scenery of the Garden was gone, and once more they were in the depiction of Hell.
Malacoda changed one last time.
"Then what about you?" And spoke with the face and body of Satanael, with the colors bleached out, only leaving an image of black and white, with a red sclera. "You haven't actually figured out all the rules, you know?"
"URGH!" Satanael cried out in pain, while feeling his throat close up on him, trapping any words within him. The gravity shifted sending him slamming into the ground, as he felt the pressure crushing and flattening him.
"No one truly knows themselves completely. Everyone thinks they know what they believe to be their true strengths, but the reality is, what you believe to be your strength, tends to be what you don't think about. The things you take for granted." Malacoda said casually, as he strolled around with relaxed pose and sadistic glee on its face. "Take Lucifer for example, he thought his strength was in his judgement, that he is always right; his cunning and ruthlessness, but in truth, deep down what he considered his strength is his Father's love for him. That no matter what, God would forgive him. Of course, he'd never admit that to himself even if you tortured him.
"Same for the others Demon Lords, the ones appropriating your name; Beelzebub in his heart believed his strength was in his usefulness, Leviathan in her kindness, and Asmodeus in his ability to hope. Of course, they never realized that these were things they ever even believed in, so they never managed to truly complete the Ritual of Domination. They believed their strength were vileness and near immortality for the old fly, beauty and tactical ability for the envious snake, and seduction, the ability to manipulate emotions and his flames for the leecher. Which were all true but not the full depth of their core."
"And... what... you think... you understand... me...?" Satanael pushed against the ground even as his bones in his arms creaked, forced air out of his throat even as it felt like grinding against broken glass.
"Yes." Malacoda mirrored Satanael's condescending smile. "For you, Satanael, what you truly believe to be your strength is your willpower. That you aren't afraid to die for the sake of your 'Father'," he scoffed and laughed. "For you, Falling was a calculated decision made of logic. You thought that was how you could best aid God's designs when he was no longer around, that as an Angel, when you fulfilled your role, and people prayed to God for help or reason, and He didn't answer it would cause them to further lose faith if they saw it was an Angel that did that to them.
"But as a Fallen Angel, it would make sense. You're an enemy of Heaven, so of course you were against Mankind, and when repelled it was by the aid of God. Good plan," he mockingly nodded. "If you hadn't started to resent humanity, if you hadn't started enjoying tormenting them, rather than test them, if you hadn't started to be distant from them. All of your experiments, your work since you Fell, you told yourself that it was ultimately to aid your Father's design, yet what had it really brought?
"Losing faith in them, if losing faith in your Father's design, the Love He had for mankind, and if that's the case, if your willpower frayed after a mere few centuries, then you're a flawed creation, and thus made by a flawed God. Everything you did, everything you believed in, was worth nothing in the end. All of this? Helping Caleb Gunnar? That's just a child begging for their absent Father to forgive them. Thinking that at the end of it, if you did a good enough job, God will bring you back to his side as an Angel, WELL TOUGH LUCK BECAUSE WE'RE NOT HAVING THAT!"
Black crimson lightning fell down upon Satanael's body. He screamed and cried as he burned, feeling not just his remnant Light be shattered, but something else settle in his being.
"I CURSE YOU TO ETERNAL FELLDOM, SATANAEL! I CURSE YOU TO NEVER RISE TO THE HEAVENLY STATE EVER AGAIN! EVEN IF YOU BEAT ME HERE, EVEN IF YOU LIVE LONG ENOUGH FOR THE DRAGON SLAYER TO SUCCEED, YOU'LL NEVER LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO JOIN HEAVEN AGAIN, AND EVEN YOUR FATHER WON'T BE ABLE TO RISE YOU TO BE AN ANGEL AGAIN!" Malacoda cried out loud as he laughed. "Your very existence is proof your God is flawed, for if he was perfect, he never would have needed to create you to begin with." He said his final piece.
Through the silence, through the pain, Satanael laid still. In that moment when he was cursed, the Malebranche's energy touched his being, Satanael saw an image. He saw the Agreas Crystals used to make the Malebranche, the ones used to make Evil Pieces later on.
He saw giant drops of blood fall from the Dimensional Gap that formed the mines and veins of Agreas Crystals, that made the floating isle of the Agreas Pillar Family.
He saw the colossal amount of blood fell from a battle between two entities, two beings he knew very well. His beloved Father and the Dragon of the Apocalypse.
And suddenly it all made sense. The final link between Great Red and the Devils, fulfilling what Caleb told him so long ago, when he tried to explain the maddened knowledge of exhausted daze. Caleb talked about the possible connection between Great Red and the Red Dragon Emperor of this era, before dismissing it, after learning the real truth from Ophis.
It seems he had more things right than he knew.
Yet Malacoda's words would end up damning the Malebranche, for the Adversary of God, in the face of everything that just befell him, started to laugh.
"...W-what?" Malacoda blinked in surprise. He couldn't fathom it. He can feel what Satanael felt, he could feel that the fallen angel's psyche hadn't shattered, instead it seemed more stable than ever.
"Y-you... know..." From Satanael's charred spiritual body, a single light formed in his chest. "Pride... really is.... the downfall... of all." Impossibly, his shaking limbs moved. His body began to stand. Each action an impossibility, yet they still occurred. "The... strength... one never realized they believe in..." Satanael stood, their eyes burning clear. "You should never tell your victims that, because it's their strength for a reason."
"I just told you—" Malacoda scoffed, only for Satanael's laugh to cut them off.
"Either you take my soul and control me, or you kill me if I come close to succeeding, right?" The fallen angel said, stilling Malacoda. "You can't fully change the ritual, but you can adjust the rules right? That should be within your capabilities."
"Hahaha, so you figured it out, that all your efforts were for nothing? You figured it out too late though."
"Haha, I never expected redemption. That was a fantasy, a nice bonus if possible, but I was never an optimist, I'm a realist through and through." Satanael grinned through crumbling charred lips.
"What are you..." Malacoda eye's widened in worry, yet it was too late.
"The objective of the ritual is to see who dominates? The final trial is my willpower? So be it. If I am to burn so humanity may finally see a new dawn then so be it. O' Lord, I, Satanael, have erred. I am your faithful servant, and if I am to burn, THEN LET ME BURN!"
The small light became a blazing flame, and Satanael's soul burned and engulfed the whole of the imagery spiritual world they were in, along with Malacoda's being.
The Malebranche screamed in pain and terror for the first time in it's existence.
"WHAT IS THIS? STOP! STOP!"
"LET MY SOUL BE THE FURNACE OH LORD, AND BURN THIS VILE BEING TO BE REMADE TO BRING HOPE TO MANKIND, NOT DESPAIR!" Then Satanael spoke scripture. "'AND GOD SAID, LET THERE BE LIGHT: AND THERE! WAS! LIGHT!'"
Malacoda burned. He screamed. He begged. He pleaded.
"YIELD!" shouted Satanael.
"I YIELD!" Malacoda cried out.
"YOU THINK I CANNOT SENSE YOUR DECEIT? YOUR EMPTY WORDS! I! SAID! YIELD!"
Malacoda screamed.
"I WILL NOT STOP! I WILL NOT GRANT MERCY! I WILL NOT BE MOVED! YIELD!"
Malacoda begged.
"THIS WILL NOT END! NOT UNTIL YOUR SURRENDER! NOT UNTIL THE FEAR OF GOD IS PUT IN YOUR HEART! IN YOUR SOUL! ON YOUR BEING! ON OUR WORKS! INTO YOUR WORDS! UNTIL YOU BREAK, UNTIL YOU YIELD!"
Malacoda pleaded.
"YIELD!"
Malacoda pushed back with all its strength. Breaking the ritual, suffering the backlash and weakening from it, all to thwart Satanael's fire, all to try and push back and survive.
"YIELD!"
Malacoda failed. He tried everything. Using all his forbidden knowledge, all his dammed power, all his secrets.
"YIELD!"
And before Satanael's fire and determination, it was all washed away.
Malacoda showed Satanael his piety, he burned. He showed Satanael every future the fallen could desire, he burned. He showed Satanael how long he would have left to live if he succeeded.
The Satanic Arm burned by Satan.
And finally yielded.
Light remade the Malebranche, Satanael claimed that new power completely as his own.
And the Top Ten List shined with a new name in the Rank 4.
Satanael, the Ephemeral ReKindling Dawn.
Indra, Hindu God of War POV:
In the far reaches of the Underworld, in a location most secret, the Old Satan Faction Headquarters lay in ruins.
"WHY!?" Shouted Shalba Beelzebub, last true descendant of the Satan Beelzebub bloodline, shouted from where he laid on the ground with a foot on his back. "WHY WOULD YOU ATTACK US? WHY WOULD THE HINDU FACTION GET INVOVLED? FOR WHAT REASON—"
A trident went through Shalba's head killing him instantly.
"Lord Indra has no reason to explain himself to you filth." Vaiśravaṇa said with a frown as he disposed of one of the leaders of the Old Satan Faction.
All around them Indra's army were slaughtering everything that was left of the Old Satan Faction, a task that was frankly too easy for the Deva Army to be qualified as something requiring effort.
Far ahead of them, Indra himself stood before someone that should not be in the Underworld, nor would anyone expect them to be there.
Bishop of Rome, the Vicar of Christ, Holder of the Holy Shroud, the Sacred Gear, Illumination Veil: The True Pope, Nicholas the Vigilant.
The old man, battered and injured from his stay in the devils' hands, stared down the Hindu God of War with tired eyes, yet still filled with devout determination.
"I already know the answer to this, but I will ask anyways as courtesy for that strong will of yours, come with me and soon you'll be returned to your flock again." Indra spoke with irritation visible on his features.
He had gathered his army, the Deva Faction in record time, yet even then he arrived only to see the collapsed pieces of where there was once the hidden realm of Qlippoth. He couldn't believe it. The Dragon Slayer was growing faster than Indra's future sight can keep up with.
Thus the only other option was what he was doing now. Getting ahead of the problem rather than trying to catch up.
"And be used as a pawn in some scheme by a pagan god? Well, you do have a sense of humor, I'll give you that." Pope Nicholas laughed and coughed blood. "Get on with it."
"...Very well." Indra raised a hand and divine lighting gathered in his palm.
He charged up the attack while meeting the eyes of the old man, there was no hesitation or fear in it.
Indra clicked his teeth, and released the lightning bolt. No body was left behind.
"Annoying zealots." He growled, at how many followers the God of the Bible had even when they hold knowledge of his death. "At least this way one Blessing is gone for good. Can't have your Apocalypse now, Dead God."
Indra walked away with the Old Satan Faction HQ burning behind him.
